The people working at the Comfort Inn were friendly and helpful. For dinner, one of them recommended Coyote Lanes, the local bowling alley, as "the best place in town." Sadly, he did not warn us about the speed trap that the local sheriff maintains to nick tourists for the impoverished town's coffers. Although I was not speeding (as shown in the attached dash cam video and scrfeenshot), the sheriff ruined our night in Shelby. We travel this route often, and have never been stopped for a traffic violation. We plan to never return to Shelby, and we will let our friends and social media contacts know about this grift.
