We stopped here on the way to a hot spring, and this place seemed to be the only one around. Franks is a really cozy local spot with large menu and a super friendly staff. We split a cowboy burger, and a pizza with tons of toppings. I chose pepperoni, onion, pepper, Jalepeno and of course, pineapple. The sweet and spicy mix on top of the homemade dough was perfect. I stopped by on the way home for some cream puffs for my girls. I've head through the grapevine that they are delicious, and they were! I picked up two vanilla ones, and had the option of a pistachio, next time I'll grab one of those too. My milkshake was a mint chocolate chip with whipped cream, hold the cherry. You'd never know it from the outside of this quaint little metal shack looking eatery, but if you pass by you've missed out on some GREAT food! Pretty full menu of sandwiches and Mexican food (tacos, gorditas, etc). Everything prepared on order and was VERY fresh, right down to the diced tomatoes on my tacos. Tortillas were hot and right off the griddle! Just as we were about to leave we realized they had fresh baked desserts! We bought some to go because we're all stuffed from lunch! Arrived at 3:20 for a quick burger and tacos and got our food at 4:50. The service was unacceptable. No utensils and dirty tables. The tacos were similar to taco bueno with a little side of rice and no beans. The burgers were good but very very pink inside and were lacking the lettuce and tomatoes that we asked for.. In the future if there is over a 1 1/2 hour wait it would be nice to inform the customers before ordering. Also the table next to us came well after us and was served 30minutes prior to us. Even when we got the undercooked hamburgers my daughter had to wait an extra 12 minutes for the waitress to finish visiting with other customers and go upstairs to retrieve her very average tacos. I met some friends for lunch here and I had THE BEST FRITO PIE EVER at Frank's Eats and Sweets. The service and atmosphere were very friendly. Our food came quickly even though there was a very large group of people that ordered at the same time as us. The waitress did not forget to ask me if I wanted more coffee. I drank three cups! I got Christmas chili on my frito pie which means both red and greed chili sauce and I think that made it extra delicious. The cook even came down to say hello to us and everyone else. Found this place on Yelp when we were passing through on our way from Taos to Great Sand Dunes NP. I'm so glad we stopped off. The stuffed sopapilla was amazing. So flavorful and delicious. Lots of food too. Got some sopapillas and honey for dessert. The rest of the dessert counter looked so good. I wish I could of tried everything. read more

Having been raked over the coals in nearby Red River, we decided to look for a more affordable option for lunch. Looking at online reviews, we decided to give Frank's a shot. To say that we are glad that we did is an understatement. The burger and fries I had were excellent with it being obvious the fries were fresh cut. Wife had the fish strip basket, and the kiddo had the nuggets. Of course, with Frank's having a cake counter up front, we had to sample that as well. Chocolate cake and lemon bars rounded out a wonderful meal! We look forward to another visit before returning home! read more

We had chicken tacos and blue corn chicken enchiladas and a cream puff and a slice of lemon cake for dessert. All were rich, complex dishes that were flavorful and filling. We stopped here based on the other Yelp reviews and I am so glad we did! When we pulled up and saw window service only and it's unassuming exterior we almost didn't. I ordered the chicken sandwich with green Chili's and my husband got the chicken taco plate and my daughter got the chicken taquitos. Everything was excellent! Fresh. Tasty. My daughter said the salsa was "so good". My chicken was cooked perfectly. The hand cut, homemade fries were perfect. The lady at the window was very nice and friendly. And. Then. I. Saw. Cream puffs!!! They make them ON SITE!?! The man behind me at the order window said I HAD to get something bakery. Who am I to say no! Boy were we surprised when we opened the door and walked in. There were pastries, turtles, cream puffs and cakes in the counter that were all to die for. We were greeted by a busy gall who was working her tail off. We sat down and started looking over the menu. I picked the enchilada dinner. Although I had eaten plenty of New Mexican dishes the past few days this tasted different. Great flavor and fresh ingredients. I can tell they take pride in what they do. My wife had the burrito. It was huge and very good also as we always try each other's. I had plenty of green chili on my enchilada so we spread a little on her burrito sand it was delicious. Then we shared a cherry turnover. It was light and flakey. The cherry mix was delicious also. They also had blue berry and apple. Was told they have peach occasionally. Then for the road we got a few chocolate turtles and a huge brownie. Both were great over the next few days and traveled well in the cooler. I would highly recommend this hidden gem if you are passing by. The only thing I could recommend for Frank is more seating. A shaded area outside would be nice but I know that may require more staff. If they ran out of everything except fries, I would still stay, eat, and leave happy. Every time I visit Questa, I say I'm going to stop and eat at Frank's, but today was the day I actually did. The kids shared a kids entree: a bean and cheese burrito with a side of fries. It was big enough for them to share and still be full-bellied while having leftovers. I had the mushroom Swiss burger. Yum! The buttered bun made an already delicious burger better. The fries are hand cut and golden, just the way I like them. The kids got a brownie and a magic bar (the 7 layer bars whose recipe can be found on a can of sweetened condensed milk or a bag of coconut flakes) for dessert and I had carrot cake. All three were decadent and just the right size that wasn't stingy, but not overly generous to make you feel like you derailed your diet. I'm glad we stopped in today. We stopped in Questa just to see some of the town. A local recommended Frank's. It's an old gas station turned restaurant/bakery. I had a burger in a tortilla and fries-$8. Wife had a Navajo taco-$10. Food was great and quick. Service was great. The desserts look fabulous, we got ours to go, I don't know how anyone saves room for dessert with all the food on our plate. We ate here over and over last summer and it was great every time. This summer indicates there must another person doing the cooking. My favorite , Chile Rellenos , have not been the same. I can't eat spicy or hot foods, and now this dish has become both. My first order, the Chiles had not been seeded and were too hot. I thought it was just a fluke , so I ordered them again .The Chiles were even hotter than last time, as well as the accompanying rice and beans.
