This community park is located in the historic Franklin Park neighborhood of Ft. Lauderdale. It is part of Franklin Park Estates, a neighborhood founded in the early 20th century by African-American railroad workers who settled in the area after building the railroad. The north fork of the New River borders the neighborhood.
Franklin Park has many amenities to enhance the communities well being. These include a recreation center with meeting rooms, computer lab, and fitness center which offers after school care, youth camps, and senior wellness and nutrition programs. The park also has a basketball court, picnic area, and playground. I especially enjoyed the fitness path that encourages outdoor movement like walking and running.
The park is clean, comfortable, and perfect for a quick outdoor such a a walk, bringing kids to play, or to attend a camp or class. if you're nearby and want a quiet place to walk, sit, or let the kids run around, it is great choice. The park is open on weekdays from 8 AM until 9 PM but check the park website because hours do vary slightly on the weekends. read more
