We used Franklin Funeral Home when my father past away this summer. It was a $19,000 funeral, and my entire family was so disappointed with nearly everything. This place deserves 0 stars but I gave it one because Stephanie and Mark were really great.. Vincent was a very sleazy salesman and Bruno had the demeanor of a mafia guy. There was also a priest that came there from their side (in addition to a family friend priest) that just did not care. It was just so fake. After going through the most difficult time in my life (loosing my father to cancer so quickly and harshly ...actually seeing him in pain and taking his last breathe while tears came down his eyes), dealing with such rudeness, tacky slimy sales focus, "fake" priests, and "Mafia" like behavior is the last thing I needed. There were things overlooked ...like no eulogy time set up, which I realize now it was probably bc they booked us knowing we didn't have enough time as every 15 min delay past 12:30 on that Saturday to the cemetery costed us $500.
Everything felt rushed. Stephanie really did all she could and was really clear, caring, and kind. We did have to pay $500 extra bc we were 15 mins late to the cemetery but we obviously had to take that as a loss. It's just not right. St Charles cemetary was another disappointment "fake/drunk or crazy" rushing deacon, and even the process of working with the sales guy about my fathers burial ground.
This is the first funeral I have ever booked so I have nothing to compare. It may be that all funeral homes and cemeteries do not care about you... rather they just take advantage of you and your money when you are so distraught....going through a death literally 1-6 days before planning this funeral. Everyone I dealt including the "priests" and "deacon" just seemed so fake. I come from a very devoted Catholic family but I must tell you that after my experience planning this funeral, I lost a lot of respect for the Catholic religion. read more
