After following his lead all this time, we went from a cleared nuclear stress test to suddenly being told my husband now needs a catheterization to find out why he's experiencing heart‑attack‑like symptoms. That alone was alarming -- but what happened next was worse. When I asked to speak with Dr. Kernis for clarity, he refused. Not in person. Not over the phone. His receptionist confirmed that he simply would not speak to me. It is disheartening to realize that after seven years of loyalty, we are nothing more than a patient number. When a specialist becomes so comfortable in their practice that they cannot spare even a moment to speak to the family of a patient facing possible cardiac issues, something is wrong. And let's be honest: if there's no way to bill the conversation, it seems there's no time for it. Money rules the world -- and in this private practice, it now seems to rule the care.
