Well hot damn!! This place is a golden nugget for sure! We landed in London, and six hours later we…read morefind ourselves in this place, nestled in an alley style of pubs and shops in Carnaby. Haven't eaten or drank much water today, and we were in a mission for some fish and chips. Well, turns out we failed in that department, and we stumbled in this place because we were so damn hungry. I ordered the The Diablo burger, and holy hell of name of the devil in Español... it is to die for!! Don't let the name fool you... no heat whatsoever. This thing was huge in presentation and even better in taste. It HAS to be the pickles that make the taste buds explode and pop in the mouth! I ordered a side of their tater tots... I kid you not, it is the best tasting tots I've ever had. It's almost borderline of a tot and fried hash brown. Big and crispy in size. So perfect to quench the hunger pangs (hangry) of my wife and my happy go lucky and lost in London friend . I definitely recommend this hidden little gem, which yes, serves American style cuisine, but damn, they just about do it better than home. Enjoy walking through the shops, grab some beers from some local pubs in Carnaby, and stop by for some tasty food!

This food was interesting. the service was really good and the covid situation was handled well but…read morei had the mac and cheese and was seriously disappointing!!!!! it was just pasta with melted cheese on top- just a ball of cold cheese. my friend had the vegan burger and said was very good and tasted very realistic so 8/10 for that one but omg the £7 cheese pasta really let this place down. the toilets were nice tho but were we meant to flush the TP down the loo???????? good vibes tho.

My first night in London (a mere 3 hours after getting off the plane and severely jet lagged) my…read moregroup and I decided to pop into The Diner because we were all hungry and exhausted. As Americans, we were interested in seeing the English take on a lot of our classic American diner dishes. I had the chocolate chip pancakes, my sister had cheese fries and macaroni and cheese (she has an intense love for cheese) and our friend had the burger with seasoned fries. I think the best things on the table were the pancakes and the cheese fries. It seemed to be ACTUAL cheese melted onto the fries instead of the fake "nacho" cheese that we get in the states -- even though the fake cheese is also delicious. The macaroni and cheese was a bit dry and in need of a bit more flavor, as was the burger. The pancakes? Awesome. They came out warm, fluffy, topped with a sprinkling of powdered sugar and a side of butter and maple syrup.

The Diner is one of those places in London trying to replicate the American diner experience, with…read morethe typical English vision of what a diner is, through the typical Hollywood lens. At this, they fail. Any Denny's will provide a better experience than this, without the London prices. Some complaints: after asking for sweetener for my coffee, I was informed they only have sugar or agave syrup. I asked for an omelette, and I was informed they were too busy to make omelettes, even though the menu offers scrambled eggs any way you like. How time consuming is an omelette? So I revised my order for 3 scrambled eggs with a side of bacon. They brought out two plates, with 2 eggs on each plate! The service was slow and unfriendly. This might be acceptable if it was a 24-hour diner, and I was there at 4 am with the clubbers and other freaks sobering up for the journey home. It was noon! I sense the people dining here were part of the bleed-over traffic from a nearby Breakfast Club, as there was no queue for a table at The Diner, unlike the competition on a Saturday morning. Apparently, this location is part of a chain. America isn't very popular these days, so these Londoners have a lot of cheek destroying the idea of one of the few good things you are usually guaranteed in the States: a friendly breakfast diner where you can get a bleedin' omelette when you ask! (One positive: they serve bottomless filtered coffee. There is that.)
