This office and this doctor are not reliable. I went in to check a minor issue, and they never even called me with my results. I had to call back repeatedly and email to get a copy of the results. The front desk receptionist ended up haphazardly telling me the results over the phone, which clearly is not professional protocol. Furthermore, on the day of the visit they roped me into doing a physical. I specifically told them I did not want to do anything outside of a routine covered checkup but apparently they ordered labs that were unnecessary. And the physical wasn't even a full physical. He kind of poked around for a few minutes didn't even listen to my chest or check my ears, nose, or throat. The doctor also opened the door while I was undressed without knocking and laughed it off. Very unprofessional. I have been waiting almost 5 months for Weiser to provide a short letter for my insurance company, and he has done nothing. His staff are powerless to make him do anything, so I hope that my unpaid claim does not send me to collections. Had I known that this doctor and office were so incompetent, I would have stayed away. Sure, they may be nice and personable, but they also need to do their job. Why is it so hard to find a good primary care doc in NYC? Unreal. read more

There arent many doctors that practice like Dr. Weiser. He is thorough and caring. In fact he saved my husbands life as he identified his prostate cancer which the specialists ignored for 7 years! The most wonderful doctor I have ever been to. Staff is very nice, professional and knowledgeable, and the doctor will ALWAYS return calls and always takes his time when seeing you; he also takes time to speak with you after all diagnostics have been run. I've been going to him since moving to NYC, 6.5 years now, and I recommend him to everyone I know - each person who has gone loves him just as much. Also, not only are he and his staff wonderful, every single doctor he recommends is spectacular as well. I had the pleasure of seeing Dr Weiser yesterday for the first time. He is a wonderful doctor (I'm a former R.N., so lots of experience with M.D.'s. He was very thorough and I feel very well taken care of. His office staff is superb and the entire experience was great! I wonder if its not a matter of good communication and a little history. I recognize the nurses are a little like bouncers, that's their job. Vette matters to make sure the doctor is getting the calls he needs to. But after being a patient of his for over 8 years, I have found the staff and the doctor to be very sensitive to my needs. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Weiser on and off for about 20 years. He knows my other doctors and is very good at working with them if need be. When ever I go, my appointments are right on time and I am always seen by Dr. Weiser within a few minutes of entering the exam room. His first question is always "how am I and what is going on". I tell him everything and he always listens attentively. He is not only interested in why I am there to see him, but what has happened to me since he last saw me. Then he tries to less my concerns with a story or family incident similar to my concerns. His exam is thorough and he does depend on test before making a quick decision as to how we can handle my health issues. He will always ask if any of the tests he is requesting have been done recently and if so, he will get them from my doctors. I never feel rushed when I see him even when it is busy. His staff has all my medical and billing information on hand, so I am in and out. My main contact is Marilyn, who sets up my appointments, does my insurance, completes my billing and when necessary takes some of my test. I find Marilyn to be an excellent nurse. Whenever I need tests she has no problems with my blood work, which other doctors find difficult due to my veins. She is friendly and very professional. Even if I have not seen Dr. Weiser in over a year or two, when I do go to see him, he makes me feel like we are friends and he truly cares about me. Not many doctors can do that. read more

Being a person who has worked in a doctor's office and a major medical hospital, I find this office to be the most unprofessional office that I've ever dealt with!!!! My 81 year old mother made an appointment to be seen (hadn't been seen in a few years) and was turned away because she didn't have a referral from her insurance company. Now I can understand that this is something that is needed, but at least have the courtesy to help her obtain it - she's 81!!! I was told by one of the staff members that if she wanted to pay out of pocket it would be expensive; they wouldn't even tell me how much! I was told "it's not a good time for her to seen". What kind of response is that?! I really like Dr. Weiser, but his office sucks and they really need some education about how to treat patients who are in pain! I will NEVER EVER recommend anyone else to this office! And, I will never come back there for myself! Horrible!!! read more

Dr. Weiser is a knowledgeable and personable doctor. I have been a patient of his for more than 10 years. On the other hand, while the medical staff is very professional, the receptionists are not always at par. Today, I called Dr. Weiser's office at 10:25 to let him know that I was in severe pain and that I would appreciate if he could call a CVS store whose number I provided to instruct them to give the pain killer I needed. The receptionist told me that she would communicate my request to Dr Weiser and call me back. Almost an hour passed without a call. At 11:16, I called back. The receptionist told me that she had just passed my request to Dr. Weiser but that he could not deal with it "now" because he was in consultation and that he would get back to me after 1pm. I told the receptionist that I was in severe pain and was disheartened by the fact that she had not communicated my problem to Dr. Weiser sooner. She just cut me out and gave me the recorded music to listen to. At 12:02, the receptionist called back to tell me that Dr. Weiser wanted to see me. I explained that I was in too much pain to go to his office and that that was the very reason for which I had called earlier, the severe pain. Eventually, the receptionist told me that Dr. Weiser had agreed to call the CVS store to instruct them to give me a few pills of the painkiller I had requested initially. This was the second time, ever since I have been one of Dr Weiser's patients, that I have had a problem with the lack of responsiveness of the receptionists. I agree with the person who gave the bad review. This office and his staff are a nightmare, and I mean that literally. I first went to him with my father. He said his heart was good, dismissed him and said to go to the hospital if anything goes wrong, not to him. Less than a week later, my dad was dead. He died in my apartment in the middle of the night. I waited until morning for the funeral director to arrive. They said they needed someone to sign the death certificate. I called Dr. Weiser, who, and I am not kidding about this, YELLED into the phone and said, let some other doctor do it. I should have quit right then. A month ago, I needed orthopedic surgery and made an appointment with Weiser for a pre-op. When I got there, the door was locked. I rang the bell, and an office girl opened the door and slammed it in my face, saying, we're closed. Time was of the essence, since the hospital needed the report ASAP. When I finally saw Weiser a few days later, he waltzed in and didn't even mention the incident or let me mention it. If you even try to do something simple, like have your pharmacy call for a prescription, it becomes a national incident. Duane Reade called for a prescription for HPB pills and I had to wait a week, while I was out of the medicine, for Marilyn et al to return their calls. Just this week, a pharmacist from NUCare called me, slightly hysterical. I had never heard a pharmacist upset like this. She said Marilyn approved the meds yesterday but when she called to confirm the dosage, Marilyn denied ever talking to her, and said she wouldn't fill the prescription. Something is seriously awry here. Either the doctor is in the midst of a breakdown or has dementia. DON'T GO THERE, despite the UES location and the supposedly good reputation. This office is professionally dangerous. I am serious. read more

the worst patient sevice from a doctor, that I can imagine. I visited him on a Tuesday with fever and mouth soars. he never even looked at the soars or put a stethoscope to my chest. he took blood and said the results will be in the next day or Thursday for sure. I called the next day and no results were in. the nurse told me to call back Thursday afternoon. I did. no answer. the phones were forwarded to a cell phone that didn't answer. I called on Friday, the nurse said the results were in but the dr. only discusses results at 1pm.. after finally getting my results, I asked the nurse for an insurance referral to my gastro doctor. Marilyn said I needed to get the gastro doctors insurance id number. after calling back again at 12 noon, Marilyn said she would send it immediately. at 3pm, I called my gastro doctor to schedule my appt. but they didn't receive the referral. I called doctor weiser's office back, but of coarse at 3pm on a Friday, the office staff is gone. now I have to wait till Monday before I can see a specialist. what ever happended to a little care and concern read more
