Dr. Spriggs will do all he can for you, if he feels that you need a referral, then he will discuss that with you. Just know that he's never just given up on how difficult my health can be. Chronic care is what he treats me for, but I can also call for something acute as well. I trust his judgement and am grateful for all he has done and Lord willing, will continue to do to help me. After having an MRI of my brain and some bloodwork, my followup appointment with the PA resulted in no diagnosis and no further tests were ordered. Instead I was referred to speech therapy and told to come back in six months. I wasn't satisfied with my treatment so I contacted the University of Alabama Birmingham - who saw me in March 2024. The Dr. suspected ALS and ordered extensive testing including a needle test (which is performed on suspected ALS patients). As a preventative measure, I was prescribed RiluzoIe. After further evaluation and consultation, I was officially diagnosed with bulbar onset ALS in June 2024. If I had followed Emerald Coast Neurology's recommendation, I would have lost a half year of critical treatment. And with ALS, EVERY MINUTE COUNTS.

After my vitals were taken, I sat in the exam room for an hour and 15 minutes. I was finally seen over two hours after my appointment time, and the appointment lasted maybe 10 minutes. I am very angry with my experience and I find it completely unprofessional and amateur to mismanage a schedule that poorly. I will be making the same complaint on multiple platforms. I was not the only one who had been waiting hours, several people in the waiting room were complaining about it being way past their appointment. I'm active duty military, and my free time and time with my family is sacred. When that time is squandered due to poor management, that is just disrespectful.
