Franich Dog Park, 795 Vista Montana Dr, Watsonville, CA (next to Ann Soldo Elementary off Hwy 152)

An excellent new dog park in Watsonville, CA! They have a small dog section, an all dog section, excellent fences and the gates are push bar style like schools have. They have benches, water fountains just for dogs, waste bags and trash cans provided. The ground is a sand/rock mixture that I kind of like provided that you brush it off before you get in the car, ect. It is nice that you can easily see what dog mess needs to be cleaned up, not muddy either. One of the best dog parks I have seen in the Santa Cruz & Monterey county area.

Entrance to the park off the main drag!

This is a great park for dogs and kids! It was recently remodeled and it had all new equipment installed for skating and climbing. Because of its central location to downtown Watsonville it's a favorite park for moms with little ones and soccer players. Try it you'll like it!

He loves it here!

The dog park itself is great. Cleaned often, well maintained, and large…read more There is a fun crew of dogs and owners that come on the weekday evenings. We try to pop in once a week. Unfortunately this dog park has a disproportionate number of inconsiderate owners compared to other parks in the Monterey Bay. Many unfixed, unvaccinated, untrained, and aggressive dogs that will attack or hump your dog repeatedly. I came with a friend last summer and both our dogs picked up a respiratory/eye infection. Because of this, you'll often find people walk their dogs on the track instead of using the dog park. I usually do this unless I recognize the dogs at the park.

I've been going to this park with my German Shepherds for about a month now. I've never had any…read moreissues with aggressive dogs in other parks like Gilroy or Morgan Hill. There is a large portion of dogs in this park which are not spayed or neutered. For the last week I've had nothing but trouble with other dogs attacking my dogs. Today I had a person upon my arrival warn me that their female was not friendly with other females. If you have to warn someone about your dog then you don't belong in a dog park. Sure enough the dog attacked one of my dogs. If your dog isn't fixed it is not a good idea to bring them to a dog park. The chances of altercations increase. I won't be going back to this park any longer. I'll drive the extra time to go to Gilroy which has a much better quality of non-aggressive dogs.

This is a horrible dog park. The best part is that it is fenced and has a water faucet…read more Annie had a great time meeting 4 overized loveable dogs. Had they not been there, this trip would have been pathetic. There is just old gravely dirt and no sign of grass for miles. Not that it has to have an apparatus for the dogs to play in, on, or under, but that would be nice. If you're in the area, there's a dog park in Morgan Hill on Edmunson that has grass.

Due to that, I will just tell you what you need to know about layout. The Gilroy Dog Park is located in a nice city park with plenty of parking, bathrooms, & picnic tables in the park. I *loved* the multiple signs pointing the way to the dog park! The park appears to be maintained. In the dog park there is: A section for "small dogs" & a section for "large dogs" (not the typical small & ALL sections I am used to). Small dogs can go into the large area *at owners risk* (typical of my other dog parks). Note: I have a "small" dog but almost always go into the "all" dog sections of dog parks. The dog park has lots of trash cans, doggie poop bags in dispensers posted in many locations, shade, benches, fresh water in both sections, "push bar" gates, 4 foot fences and a bulletin board. The ground appears to be dirt but it might be "decomposed granite" that needs to be refreshed (see photos). My only complaint was that the water drain on the "big dog section" was clogged and backed up, I am currently asking around for who to contact to fix it. Today, 18 July 2012, it was only 84 degrees at 12 noon. Hopefully this is not the lamest review I have ever given for a dog park.....but I did want to 1.) add this dog park in Yelp (check), 2.) tell ya'll what you should know (check) and post multiple *good* photos (check). If I go back, if my dog gets to play with others I would be happy to give the place more stars. I am *not* from Gilroy nor do I go to Gilroy often, but my 2 year old dog has gone to more than 30 dog parks and I have something to offer in that department.

We came here for a kid's birthday party, and this park is so nice!…read more It's very spacious, lots of free parking, and lots of features. There is an extensive playground with different types of swings, merry-go-round things, a large playhouse thing, and several slides on a little hill on the playground. In the area with the slides they have turf material and there is a recycling box with cardboard so that kids can use it and also sled down the hill. They have different types of courts like for basketball, pickleball, tennis, baseball. There is lots of space to walk on the gravel path, and there is sort of a pond area (which appears to be less maintained). There are many picnic areas that are shaded too. I really liked that the area the birthday party was located had a gate so that kids wouldn't run out and away. The playground also had a gate on it too, which is great for childrens' safety and parents' ease of minds! We noticed the bathrooms are somewhat high tech with lights to activate the automatic doors and lights to indicate that the bathroom is occupied. I didn't go in, so I can't comment on cleanliness/upkeep. Wish this kind of park was more common. I would highly recommend this park!

New magical bridge playground opens this weekend. It's not even open yet and it looks beautiful so far :) It has a dog park, a trail, a basketball court, a tennis court, and a baseball field. I almost forgot, the ducks! It has a lake with ducks! I like walking the trail because there are plenty of trees which creates shade, so it's not just sunny. The bathrooms are located in between the tennis courts and the baseball field. Also, parking is free! Anyone can come with children, strollers, solo individuals, people with dogs, anyone. Everyone is in their own world, living their life with nature.
