The rules are the same red means no more meat, green means bring it on. Of course the salad and sushi bars are designed to fill your tank before the meat comes. DON'T DO IT!!!!! Save space for the meat. That's why you come to a Brazilian steak house. We were a party of one hundred so hats off for serving all of us and the normal patrons. Most of the meat was tender, juicy and well seasoned. Occasionally, I had a dry piece but that was the exception not the rule. The wait staff was super friendly and did there very best serving a bunch of gringos who don't speak Portuguese. The desert platter was pretty yummy as well with all kinds of options pictured below. Exciting atmosphere and fun place to eat.

The service is wonderful and the wait staff pays great attention the customers needs.

It would take over 10-15 minutes just to get another slice of Picanha, yet they kept bringing bottom sirloin and other cuts. Also, the bottom sirloin was not as good as the other Churrascarias in Sao Paulo (Jardineria, Barbacoa, etc...). The pincaha was still very good at this location, but you could tell they were trying to get rid of their other cuts first. The staff also kept messing up our bill. For the price point and quality of the other cuts, it's just not worth it. There are too many other great Churrascarias around the city. For the record, I only went because of how close it was to my hotel. I'm actually surprised the Fogo de Chao in the states have better quality and service.

Just because you see a lot of people, don't be scared away. I'm not a beer drinker, but even I was impressed with the expansive beer selections. While all those people congregate outside waiting for their table, I head to Empório São João. This unassuming, but perfectly adorable café is home to my favorite chicken milanesa. Often, you'll find the chicken dried up after having been lightly fried, but not the São João milanesa - theirs is always moist and cooked to perfection. Then the zesty lemon risotto that gets served alongside the chicken is equally excellent. Another thing I love at SJ is the soup buffet at night. This soup array may not happen always, but I found myself going back for bowls of their homemade varieties, of which there were about 5 to choose from. For lunch or dinner, SJ has consistently satisfied and their passion fruit caipirinha is definitely one of the best I've had. If you get Elton as a server, you're in luck - he's an absolute gem!

Find a friend, split the milanesa de frango com risotto ao limone (chicken milanesa with lemon risotto) and pair it with a trip to the salad bar. This way you'll get your veggies and more than enough of the indulgent stuff too. Don't miss the toasted garlic bits at the salad bar, they really made the salad for me. Empório São João has many lunch options from quiches to veggie burgers and pastas. Something for everyone? Our group of seven seemed satisfied! Now I need to figure out a way to come back for dinner so I can try the soup buffet...
