This place really deserves more credit - the Korean food options that they serve are, frankly in my amateur opinion, quite good. I normally come here for lunch especially when the craving for Asian food can't be met by the 'oh-so-boring' Temakeria and everytime I have liked what they serve. For lunch at R$ 38-40 they have some options of bibimbap & sundubu and the portions are quite well served -the spice level is on the higher side so I recommend that you go prepared to get some good Korean flavours. Most of the customers are Koreans or Japanese from neighbouring Paulista based companies - also another sign that the food is authentic. A place I visit frequently and has never let me down !

Mirim is basically a restaurant to go during weekdays for lunch and focus on the Korean expat population in the neighborhood. From bibimbap (rice with meat and vegetables in a hot bowl to mix with a raw egg and chili paste) to sundubu (spicy soup with tofu and seafood), you can try the basics of Korean food. The lunch menu dishes include the main dish and 3 options of banchan (kimchi is always a must) and for attracting more customers, they have a loyalty program. For every 10 meals, you get 1 for free. I have my favorite dish which is the sundubu. I already tired bibimbap which was good, but a dish I would not recommend is any noodle based dish. Even though the broth was spicy, the noodles tastes like instant noodles you can get at any grocery shop in Bom Retiro.

The bibimbap is quite good, as well as the barbecue, and they were both served with traditional sidings, all very tasteful. Watermelons finish your meal, with the check being relatively concise - only the numbers, so keep track of your orders. The price is fair (even a little cheap) for what is served. Will return to try the rest of the menu.

After their investigation through Internet and a kind of survey with other Koreans living in the country, they finally concluded that this was the best Korean restaurant in São Paulo and so far, I agree with them. In the heart of the traditional Korean town of Bom Retiro, as other restaurants of similar cuisine, one issue that needs to be adapted to local customs is their working hours: specially at night, they close quite early for Brazilian standard. Apart from that, the dishes are very well executed. If you are a beginner on Korean cuisine, better try "Seok Joung Combinado" which can be individual or for sharing by two. It comes with a little bit of each traditional dish, including soup, rice, Korean style sashimi and others that may vary daily. And the price is very reasonable for the quality and quantity. If you know a little more about Korean food, then try the other dishes in the menu with no fear. A Korean to be called authentic.

We were quickly seated (although be careful if you sit under the AC unit, as it dripped on my colleague a few times during dinner), as there were very few people in the restaurant. The wait staff offered either Portuguese or English menus: I was thankful to not have to use Google Translate to order. The wait staff was patient as we ordered and knew enough English that ordering was not a problem, thanks to the English menus. The food took a while to get out to us, especially considering the number of others in the restaurant, but once it arrived we were very happy. The meal had a touch of heat, but it didn't hit you in the face. Be aware that the meals for 2 are not American-sized portions; not saying they are tiny, but keep that in mind as you order. My colleague and I ended up ordering the scallion pancake later because we were both still a little hungry after the meal. Overall, a very nice dining experience and a nice change from the meat-focused or carb-focused restaurants that are so common in this area.

Gogigui (barbecue in Korean) in is he main item in the menu, with different options (beef, chicken, pork, duck) for sharing, but other dishes are also available. We were in a group of 4 and none of us were in mood of having the barbecue. Moreover, we had a member trying Korean food for the very first time and another one who wasn't much into spicy food. Taking everything into consideration, we ordered 2 bowls of bibimbap and kimchi jjigae (stew with kimchi, tofu and pork). While waiting for the dishes to come, we were offered banchan (side dishes) which was okay. A portable stove was placed on the table for preparing the kimchi jjigae and all dishes were brought at once. Flavor-wise, everything was very tasty, but spiciness was an issue for the ones that were not really familiar to Korean food. But fortunately bibimbap was served with gochujang separately, so we managed to make and edible bibimbap for everyone's standards. In the end we realized that 1 bowl could be enough for the 4 of us. One curious thing happened while we were having our meal: a family with a child seated in a high chair had ordered the barbecue. We heard a scream all of sudden. The girl had put the hands over the hot grill! So one important piece of advice: make sure you keep an eye on children if you come here with your family.

Owner, the lady was disinterested and the man was simply rude (Korean owner) - Perhaps they think I am Korean as I have an oriental face. They probably think negatively of me thinking I am a Korean refusing to speak Korean with them. I will not return. If one is selling BBQ in Brazil, you have to be original as the local standard, which is Brazillian BBQ (churrascaria) is pretty high. I was with my friend, a compatriot that has been living in Brazil for 50 years, He was not impressed either. If you receive good treatment from the restaurant owner, good on you. As for me, I will not return.
