So as I read the profile of Dr George, I felt more confident in what I was reading about his experience and when I read he treats patients like a member of his family that struck me as a power sign we were in good hands. Dr George always took the time with my mom, addressed EVERY fear, helped us all to laugh about something to ease the anxiety about the healing process but he was always very cautious, confident and calm. I can say after weekly follow up appointments for 10 weeks, we were going through stressful times but what was the best outcome with Dr George expertise and guidance, needless to say we are just so thankful for Dr George! Dr George treating you like a family member is spot on of who he is so caring and does wholeheartedly, let's just say he is welcome anytime to a family gathering and means a lot to our family! She recently started to offer Shockwave Therapy and so we gave it a shot and also added custom orthotics. I am so happy to say that it worked!! I first began my care with Dr. Salvino on 3/15/18. I suffered a foot injury, which I suspected to…read morebe a ruptured Achilles, and didn't want to foot the bill of going to the emergency room or urgent care. Instead, I went straight to the source and began searching for foot specialists. After calling a couple that were unavailable that same day, I called Dr. Salvino's office, and not only was the person on the phone very empathetic, but I was able to come in a couple of hours after my phone call. Upon arrival, he confirmed what I thought to be true, and was recommended various locations for an MRI to determine the severity of the rupture. The next day, I received a call from their office to come in for a second appointment to prepare for surgery. Dr. Salvino explained the entire process to me, answering all of my questions and discussing why surgery was the best option for me. Since I didn't have a PCP, Dr. Salvino recommended a physician that might be able to squeeze me in for a pre-surgery approval physical, so that my surgery could take place as soon as possible. A few days later, Dr. Salvino performed my surgery on my Achilles rupture. It was as smooth of a process as it could have been, and I have been seeing Dr. Salvino weekly since then, notebook in hand to make sure that all my questions are answered. He answers them all with patience and I never leave his office feeling confused or like my questions haven't been answered. There was a time I called the office with a concern about my cast being too tight, and even though he was out of the office, he promptly called me back from his personal number to address my issue. I really appreciated this. I am very pleased with the care I have received from Dr. Salvino and his team. Everyone is friendly, I never have to wait long to see him, and I am pleased with the progress I am making with my injury.

I thought perhaps it had re-broken because it was hurting the same way. Now, for those of your that have experienced broken toes (I've had two on my left foot, one on my right, plus this something-carsal-thing) then you kinda know when it happens. It's like 'yup, that's broken'...actually I have broken lots of bones and also knew it, but I digress. So the I only attended the facility twice, but every single person there (including the Dr.) was extremely pleasant. I never waited and I always felt relaxed. The rooms were super cool too because there were photos that Dr. took on his own vacations (which I also do...at my house...not my Dr.'s office, lol). My main issues for not giving above three (other than no comparison and only two visits) is he never wanted to take an X-ray. And it wasn't because it wasn't covered (or, I'm willing to pay for it) but just he was extremely sure it was not rebroken. I'm not one to argue with a Dr.; they know way more than me but wouldn't a Dr. just try to rule that out? In the end I did receive very caring treatment but no definitive answer. Would I go back? Yes.

I am a runner and I went to Dr. Nichols as a refferal from my family doctor. My experience has been…read moreterrible. The first visit I went, Dr. Nichols said I had a neuroma.He injected my foot with cortisone, without asking my if I wanted the injection or discussing what the injection was even for. It was very painful! He used a 2" long needle that went between my toes and through my foot. The worst part is, my foot now had ANOTHER pain for a week and a half from the shot. It did not help at all but made my pain worse! The bill for the shot that I didn't even ask for was $140!!! And he acted like it would cost nothing and forced me to get it when we were one-on-one in the patient room. I went back to Dr. Nichols a month later complaining of the same foot pain. He still thought it was a neuroma, and said to look and see if my insurance would pay for custom orthotics (otherwise $800). He had no real answer or diagnosis for me, even after taking X-Rays. Two weeks later, I went to a Sports Medicine doctor in the Cadance physician group. He said that I most definitely did not have a neuroma as Dr. Nichols said, but that my issue was metartarsalglia. He told me where to get a ball of the foot pad that would support my big toe up while I was running extra long distances. It has worked! And now I'm able to run 10 + miles without pain! My experience with Dr. Nichols definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. Seeing a specialist isn't cheep! And then they stabbed me with another $140 bill!. Awful.

My PCP thought it was time for me to see a podiatrist, as they were starting to cause me real discomfort. I went to see Dr Nichols, as he was in the same vicinity as my PCP. Not even five minutes after meeting him in an examining room, he declared that I needed surgery on both feet and within the next six months. Wait, what? I have friends and acquaintances with feet issues, and ALL of them have gone with custom orthotics prior to thinking about surgery. Even if it only delays the surgery, the less invasive orthotics route would be a suggestion that I had hoped would be offered. But no. Dr Nichols was extremely adamant that both of my feet needed surgery, or else I was risking much more serious surgery down the line. I asked about custom orthotic insoles, and his unwavering opinion remained that I needed surgery. I told him it wasn't an option for me at this point in my life and he begrudgingly said we could "try" insoles. At this point he left the room and his receptionist/assistant came in and began to photograph the soles of my feet with an iPad. Huh/what? I'm going to get custom insoles based on an iPad shot of my feet? I was also told that "Insurance usually doesn't pay for orthotic insoles, but they will pay for surgery". Interesting. After the iPad photos were taken, I was told "you can either pay $486 right now for the insoles, or we can bill your insurance, but if they don't pay for them you will then owe us over $800 for the insoles". Uhh, why the price fluctuation? At this point I was a little distressed, so I just opted to pay for them upfront. Not only did the office charge me $486 for the insoles, but they billed my insurance for $950 THE SAME DAY. I found out about this after I was looking at my insurance claims on line. My insurance paid them after I already had; the office of Dr Nichols was paid twice for the insoles! After three weeks I received a call that my insoles were ready to be picked up. I made an appointment to come get them, and when I go to the office I was told Dr Nichols was on vacation. There was a "substitute" handling his clients, and it took this guy over 15 minutes to find my twice paid for orthotics. Then he couldn't tell which one was right from left. I was flabbergasted. A month into wearing them, my feet were in worse pain than prior to seeing Dr Nichols. I called the office, and the receptionist explained that they needed a "breaking in" period. I also asked about the double billing, and she reluctantly agreed to refund $103.00 to my credit card. What? These pain causing insoles cost over $1200? Called back another time complaining about pain and was again told that it would take time for my feet to adjust. Ok then. You folks obviously are done with me. Just within the last month I received a letter form my health insurance, United Health Care, stating that they no longer will be covering ANYTHING from the office of Dr Nichols. Very interesting. So here I was, 3+ months into this ordeal, with feet that were more painful than ever, and useless $1200+ insoles. Wow. I went and got a second opinion last week, from a more established podiatrist, and am confident that we are addressing my foot issues correctly this time. Never be afraid to get a second opinion, Yelpers. It may save you time, money and a whole bunch of frustration.

My doctor, Dr. Tauchen, recommended their therapy at the same location. I went here and I remembered the therapist, as she remembered me. My treatment started with dry needling and this procedure really helped with my pain. This was just the start as an hour more of therapy got me more mobile. I have seen progress in the few visits and continued workouts at home. My therapist, Michelle, is one of the best therapists I have ever used. She has given me hope to make my fall fishing tournament in Destin, Florida. I always make jerky for these trips and can drop off some of the jerky for my therapist and doctor.

I was able to get an initial appointment scheduled right away, zero wait! My appointment started on time. He ordered an x-ray (on-site) and then determined I needed an MRI (also on-site) so I came back a few days later for the MRI, once my insurance agreed. Once he determined what was needed he offered to do surgery the next day! I decided to wait 5 days, but I was really impressed that he could arrange for surgery so quickly! So far so good with the surgery outcome. His bedside manner is lovely. He met with my husband and I pre-op at the surgical center then my husband again after the procedure while I was waking up in Recovery. He individualized the plan as I have a duel diagnosis of cancer. It would appear that his surgical skill is excellent too as I actually feel really good and it's only 24 hours post-op. So I'm pretty sure he solved the problem! I'm up walking on crutches, no swelling and just a bit of pain! I also want to give a shout out to the other members of Dr. Chudik's awesome team at Hinsdale Orthopaedics: Brecken the athletic trainer who did my initial screening was professional, efficient, attentive to my worries, and made sure all my questions were addressed. Pat in X-ray, who I saw on two separate days, was so friendly and upbeat and she remembered when I came back the second time that we were distant Irish cousins so that's a fun coincidence. Jason in MRI scheduling was friendly and helpful, checked my insurance for me and scored me an evening MRI spot so I wouldn't miss work. Michelle the PA squeezed me in for a last-minute pre-op visit then took loads of time with me and made sure all my concerns were addressed, even called to check on me the night prior. Front desk clerks were friendly too. Great experience! I highly recommend Dr. Chudik for orthopedic surgery!
