Over the years, he has performed successful procedures on my shoulder, both legs, wrist, and elbow. Most recently, in the summer of 2025, I underwent a full knee replacement under his care, and the entire experience--from initial consultation to recovery--has been exceptional. What stands out most about Dr. Romano is his conservative and thoughtful approach. When he first noted that I might eventually need a knee replacement, he didn't rush to schedule surgery. Instead, he made the recommendation but gave me the time and space to decide when I was ready. I ultimately waited a year before going through with it, and I'm very glad I did it on my own timeline with his continued support. Pre-operative care was outstanding. His team provides clear, thorough guidance to help patients prepare for surgery, including medical and lab clearances, and a pre-surgery meeting to ensure everything is in order. I had my procedure at Rush Oak Park, which--like Dr. Romano's team--was excellent across the board. Though it was an outpatient surgery, I stayed overnight and received top-notch care throughout. Dr. Romano came to see me in the recovery area shortly after surgery to check in personally, reassure me, and explain how the procedure had gone. What impressed me even more was that he returned the following day--Saturday--to visit me in the hospital. He didn't have to do that; Rush has hospitalists assigned to oversee patient transitions and discharge. But Dr. Romano took the time to come in himself, examine me, and ensure everything was on track. That level of care and commitment is rare and deeply appreciated. He also gave me his personal cell phone number so I could text him directly with any questions or concerns. That kind of accessibility is almost unheard of, and he was genuinely responsive. Of course, his office team is also attentive and available, but knowing I could reach him personally was incredibly reassuring. Follow-up care has been just as thoughtful. At my post-operative visit, a member of his office team carefully checked my scar tissue, explained the next steps in recovery, and extended necessary medications. It's clear that patient well-being and recovery are top priorities for Dr. Romano and his entire staff. In-home physical therapy--arranged through a company they work with--has also been exceptional. The professionals from Interim HealthCare have been friendly, skilled, and focused on results. Even within a single week, I saw marked improvement in my right leg's strength and mobility thanks to their expert guidance. I wholeheartedly give Dr. Romano and his team five stars. So yeah, screw you for that. I will say he was very skillful with his injections. I was very nervous about them, but they went very well. Filled with old people staring at me and whispering to each other about me, "she's too young to be here" "she's too young to have back issues." that's some REALLY dumb shit to say. The hernia was about 10 mm which is huge relative to the space your spinal cord and Dura need and was pressing directly on the spinal cord. After reviewing the MRIs, I was advised urgent surgery was needed. Since I could see the progression and was living with the scary negative trend with my leg strength, waning, I was eager for the surgery. Dr. Lopez told my wife after the surgery that every aspect of the surgery went better than he had anticipated and that he knew I was better already. I was able to walk out of the hospital same day and was so grateful for a reversal of what could've been a dire situation. Although I still have some lingering neurologic sensations in my legs. This is not unusual as nerves can heal at very different rates, but I can say after five months I am nearly back to normal, my experience with Midwest orthopedics, Dr. Lopez and his staff has been nothing but positive. During the investigation of my spine, it was also duly noted that I will likely need ACDF surgery as well and I have symptoms of severe radiculopathy. I have scheduled surgery with Dr Lopez and have all the confidence that my outcome will be outstanding as it was for my thoracic spine surgery. I included a picture of the surgical site the day after my surgery. A life changing surgery through such a small opening. I did feel like I wanted an opportunity to review my cervical MRI results and get a better understanding of why surgery was indicated and so I made an appointment with Dr. Lopez and had this discussion,-and decided to move forward with the surgery. The treatments take about 10-15 minutes on average and results last about 15 hours, not sure if the physical therapy is working or laser therapy is helping with the pain, but I feel better and thats how good I feel now. The therapists are all amazing and I have had 2 technicians work with me, Jocelyn and Angelica are just awesome as they explained everything before starting my treatments. The location is easy in and out, right across from Binny's liquor on 83( kingory highway). The owner, Kevin was super helpful with all my questions and I signed up for 6 treatments to start. It is not cheap, but in the long run of life, it is worth every penny spent. I can now continue doing the things that I enjoy, that peace of mind has helped loads. I would go back as needed if my pain starts to return. Try a the 6 treatments first and go from there, I saw results after the first time, my friends gave me a home laser therapy machine for my birthday, this maybe why so quick to recover.

My orthopedic surgeon recommended this place to give it a try and to hold off for surgery unless absolutely necessary. I went for an additional three visits and my pain substantially reduced after those additional visits. It's like 'yup, that's broken'...actually I have broken lots of bones and also knew it, but I digress. So the I only attended the facility twice, but every single person there (including the Dr.) was extremely pleasant. I never waited and I always felt relaxed. The rooms were super cool too because there were photos that Dr. took on his own vacations (which I also do...at my house...not my Dr.'s office, lol). My main issues for not giving above three (other than no comparison and only two visits) is he never wanted to take an X-ray. And it wasn't because it wasn't covered (or, I'm willing to pay for it) but just he was extremely sure it was not rebroken. I'm not one to argue with a Dr.; they know way more than me but wouldn't a Dr. just try to rule that out? In the end I did receive very caring treatment but no definitive answer. Would I go back? Yes.

When Hennessy showed up, he seemed to immediately assume I was interested in total knee replacement, a propos of nothing except possibly $$, and when I told him I preferred conservative treatment and had good success with PT and was there for assessment, he seemed to lose interest. He ran down the short list of treatments -- cortisone injection, the newer platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections -- and when I leaned toward the former, he left the exam room and his PA took over. Didn't get an MRI even though it was on the referral form. His PA was a pro and made up for his cursory 5-minute "evaluation" by being thorough and caring. Got the cortisone shot which has helped even if it's a temporary measure. Visit did no harm, but I'm going somewhere else next time.
