The guy refused to sell me the meat and avocado salad at the farmers market unless he could put the rice & beans in with meat. I told him I would pay, but I just wanted the meat and the avocado salad. Slammed the lid down and said I don't sell it that way.

You may not find a more friendly owner of food stand than you will in Noel Argote-Herrera, Cuban…read moreborn and Miami and LA raised, who owns the Cuban food stand named after his mother from whom he learned to cook and whose memory inspires his cooking. On most, or maybe all, Saturdays during the Boise Farmers Market (BFM) season you will find him in the parking lot there. He is also sometimes at a local cigar and wine bar (although I have this information second hand since I never think of food and cigars together). For a while, maybe in 2020 - 2021'ish time frame he sometimes set up in a neighborhood...maybe he still does and I no longer get the info. He is also sometimes set up at events like local brewfests. And if there is music in the mix, you may find Noel sharing his joy in dancing to the beat. My husband and I are big fans of Cuban food and have enjoyed Noel's dishes that we've had as take away from his BFM stand on occasional Saturdays starting in 2021. Typically he'll have a rice dish and Cuban beans (both vegan), maybe plantains, and an animal protein option like ropa vieja (beef) or lechon (pork). His flan and pastelitos (guava marmalade he makes himself filled pastries) are legendary. And his tasty food is made more delicious through his charming personality. PS - If you're looking for great Cuban food in a sit down, full service restaurant owned by a Cuban family who found their way to Boise from Cuba via Miami, try Casa Blanca. https://www.yelp.com/biz/casablanca-cuban-grill-boise-3

Walking in, I was instantly greeted by a beautiful smile. I looked over the drink boards and decided on the tiramisu latte. It sounded delicious. While my drink was being made, I checked out all the fun merch, flowers and decor. It's a really bright venue with lots of seating. Great for a coffee date, home work or some alone time. There were fresh pretty flowers that really added a feminine touch to the place. Flowers are so simple but add such a warm touch to a venue. I'm not gonna lie, I ordered a small and with tip I was pushing close to 7 bucks. I thought it was a pricey coffee. I was hoping for my coffee to be sweet. When I think of tiramisu I think of sweet and creamy. It was creamy but it did lack in the sweet department. I would have liked a little more flavor to the drink. It was a little bitter for my liking but I still drank it. I'll have to ask for extra sweet next time. If you're looking for a chill joint to drink coffee and chill, Slick Rock would be a good joint to hit up. Even though the coffee was average for me, I do look forward to going back and trying another drink.

The prices were incredible and the quality was top notch. The owner is from the PNW and provides fresh quality ingredients for all her drinks and it shows! The inside of the shop was tastefully decorated, cozy and inviting. If I lived in Boise, I would be at her shop daily. I highly recommend you check out Slick Rock Coffee. You will not be so happy you did. I know I am.
