My husband and I have dined at The Board Room many times. I am sad to say they seem to be declining…read morein quality. Our most recent visit was early on a Friday evening. We ordered a few small plates, a couple large plates, and dessert. Food was hit-or-miss. Two of our four Bao buns were stale--in fact, one was so hard it was inedible. The chocolate mousse cake we shared for dessert was frozen in the middle. Although we tried to stagger the ordering of our items, they came out too quickly so dishes were starting to pile up on our table. And they were slow to take our dirty dishes and fill our water glasses. Service otherwise was decent but not spectacular. Prices are on the high side but not atypical for similar restaurants. As other reviewers have noted, the restaurant can get pretty loud, no matter where you sit. That's neither good nor bad, just an observation. 2 years ago, I would have given The Board Room 5 stars. Nowadays, 3 stars seems about right.

If the DJ is there or if one of the young bartenders is working who clearly looks out of place, by all means, stay and enjoy what is about to unfold. The last trip here, the DJ played "teach me how to dougie" which is a beat I have yet to hear in Chicago and I do not know why. This place erupted. The time before was apparently Elvis impersonator night. Oh yes, the last friday, and sometimes Saturday, of every month features an Elvis impersonator who drinks as much if not more that Elvis did while belting out some serious tunes. He won't sing all of your requests if he does not feel he has to. America. All in all, stop by this place on a friday or saturday towards the end of the month and be prepard for absolute glory.

Employee mentioned it was an error due to the third party reservation site, except the MOH spoke directly with an employee at Baker House (even gave her card number) since our group was too big to book on the other site. We later heard an employee mention a similar incident happened a couple weeks prior. The employees we spoke to were accommodating and said we would still be seated but the food might come out a tad later since they didn't prepare for us. They mentioned giving a discount for the trouble but that did not happen when the bill came. There was also a $16 admin fee. When we asked our server, she said 'I don't deal with fees' and had no idea what it was for. She then asked someone and was told it was the fee to 'run the card' but I have not come across that high of a fee anywhere else. I probably would have rated this 2 stars instead but the tea was quite good. So I bumped it to 3.
