I may work for Yelp, but I totally didn't even realize that I could review TV stations! I love that! I've been on FOX 5 numerous times throughout the year. And it's definitely one of my favorite TV stations to go, too. The area is nice and it's right by Ethel M chocolate off Sunset. There's plenty of parking out front. Once you arrive, the doors are locked but usually security will open the door for you and greet you. They are always SO nice. They have a new system now where you enter your info and check-in via a tablet. Which is pretty awesome. Then they give you a badge. Typically someone will come grab you and bring you back to where you need to go. I love how nice this station is and the anchors are always so welcoming! I'm still a fan, after all of these years. I am originally from the SF Bay Area (born and raised), and grew up watching the Fox news station there. The Morning News team has changed over the years but Jason Feinberg is anchoring with Alyssa Deitsch. The weather man is Matt. The traffic man is Ken. I always check the weather and the traffic almost every morning. Everyone on the staff is likeable. We appreciate this every morning. This news team has been helping out the Las Vegas Community year after year with Take 5 to Care, The Surprise Squad, Super Build and various other events, year after year. Recently, I saw the news story about the Honor Flight, and a Vietnam Vet saw his buddy's name on the Vietnam War Memorial. The family saw it and got a hold of the daughter of the this man's fallen buddy. It was such a touching story. 8 When I'm in Vegas visiting family or on a business trip, I'll often watch the local early morning news shows including Fox 5. The first time I saw their early morning show, I honestly thought I was watching a local public access station. It's amazing how unprofessional the anchors are and the stories they cover. There are so many hard news stories that should be covered and yet they discuss fluff like make-up tips.Fox 5 can't possibly consider itself an actual news station. Even their morning anchor Feven Kay was found passed out naked in her car a few years ago and was still able to keep her job!!! read more

KVVU is quite deserving of being one of the top local TV news for the Metropolitan Las Vegas vicinity. Their news coverage is throughly on point, and relevant. I was a resident in New York City for (5) years and was an avid viewer and supporter of Fox News as my go-to station for hard news as well as local news. Hoping somebody in charge or higher up reads this comment/review. I have lived in the Las Vegas Valley for the last 46 years. I have recently started having issues with volume during shows broadcasting on channel 5. I find this quite ridiculous as the commercials are still loud and noisy but the but Broadcast itself is completely mute. Who fixes these problems? Is anybody else having this issue? I live in the Summerlin area, I have a brand new smart TV that works just fine. It is not my cable provider and it is not my TV. So my question is, what gives?! Please respond one way or another. Been watching Fox 5 news early edition for years. The morning crew is great! Can't say enough good things about Feven, Casandra, and the rest. Sorry I can't say the same for the evening edition which I recently started watching; sorry but I can't watch it anymore! Christine would be more at home reporting on a croquet game. She shows as much enthusiasm as my grandkids do when it's time to go to bed!! Perhaps she could be moved to the late night broadcast where she would be great at helping people go to sleep! After living here for 13 years, and giving all the local news broadcasts a fair chance and evaluation, I have to confess these good folks are the most comprehensive. John Huck is the Class of all local News Anchors. That says it all. I'm wondering why he's still here in the number 49 size media market, and not in a larger market like San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, or Los Angeles. Either the local station owners are paying him well, or he must really like it here. He's for sure the major asset to the News Broadcast. I think they made a mistake letting Elizabeth Watts get away. She's in Colorado Springs, now, and from what I hear, raising a child. Hope she's happy. I do think she was good, and the local Fox Station made a mistake letting her get away. I can not figure out for the life of me why they added Christine Meddela. My guess is they wanted to be politically correct having her replace Olivia Fierro, whom is also hispanic. Honestly, they had Elizabeth Watts, and now they have a couple of other ladies like Faith Tanner, and Alicia Dietsch, who are much better and would have better chemistry with John Huck. Nothing personal, but I'm hoping they say adios to Meddela when her contract is up. I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to Kevin Bolinger. What is he doing still in Las Vegas? He could be a local sports anchor in a larger market like San Diego, Phoenix, or Los Angeles. They are lucky to have him. He's wasting his talent here promoting the UNLV football and basketball teams which are the laughing stock of the Mountain West. Overall, this broadcast seems to be the best rounded, good reporters,and their morning group seems very community oriented, and not a cheap infomerical with phony experts (example; Morning Blend on Chanel 13, Las Vegas Now on Chanel 8). It would seem if a reporter is not that good (Ophelia Young), they replace them with someone more professional. Please promote Alicia Dietsch, Monica Jackson, or Faith Tanner to the night broadcast, so I can truly enjoy it again. This is my favorite news station and the only news station in Las Vegas that is honest and well-balanced and not politically leaning one way or the other good morning news crew is like family to my girlfriend and I we can't get up without them and the evening news crew is what we relax him they keep us abreast of what's happening in our neighborhood and in our country and we have gotten so used to them being in our lives that they're what we think of when we see something happening. We wouldn't know what to do without them we wouldn't know what was happening in our neighborhoods without them and we wouldn't be able to handle the News That's brought us it's sometimes it's pretty rough and sad without them they make it a little easier to tolerate the the bad news and they tend to give us a lot of good news and a lot of great human interest stories they make the world a better place read more

There's a major reason why I love Fox 5 news, but let me ramp up to that so I don't shoot my review wad in one note. What else... Oh, the 3 featured anchors. 1) Olivia: she's cute in a morning talk show kinda way. Apparently she recently moved here. she appears to be learning about annual events and the others occasionally "teach" her on the air about what has gone on in town years past. She is un-jaded. And instead of being cynical wondering when the bricks will fall on her, I actually like the newbie's point of view. I had a lot more hope of things when I moved here. It is a tough time. It's so easy to look on how we got out of recession in the past, but the truth is, we don't know what to believe in the media. Or why spend the time looking? Why would it be easier to believe things will get worse and over question flickers of things on the rise? Okay, lil too philosophical before happy hour. 2) Darren Peck: this by far is the happiest weatherman on Vegas tv today. He is just happy about EVERYTHING, weather if the forecast has been the same for 3 months, or all hell is breaking loose. He has a vibe of "Look, the tsunamis are blowing all the roofs of the casinos off, better bring a jacket out there! Let's go to the 3 day forecast..." I believe he was traumatized by by Casey Kasem's Ponderous. Look for the clip online, infamous recording of Casey having a breakdown with what he has to read on the air. Darren must have vowed he would NEVER get caught in this situation. Someday, on another channel, we may figure out there is another side to Darren... 3) John Huck. Oh, there's a 4th... so, John Huck hosts my favorite segment on the news. He's all over the social networking sites also, which I suppose is alright. The 4th announcer is Stefanie Jay and there is a bit of sexual tension when they banter off each other. Every news team should have a will they/ have they couple. There will be a day when we see a split second eye rolling or tone of voice letting us know something betwixt them went overboard at the bar last night. and that's why we race home every day to watch. So, John Huck hosts the Rant, by far the BIGGEST reason to watch the news. People e-mail and call in and basically bitch about what is going on in the news. Yes, there are unintelligible people and ones that have NO idea what they're talking about. I just love that people can bitch on the air, I can see when the broadcasters want to and can't. There are a few dj's on the radio that do this and go thru suspensions and all that. there have been a couple of times where I had a real rigid opinion about something and someone ranted and made me actually change my mind about something. It was an angle I'd never considered before. And I don't remember the actual news segments ever doing that. Ever. It's not all gloom, people thank others for helping them out when they were stuck on the road or something. I am so damn tired hearing about finances, there should be a required good Samaritan news story on every day. Christine Madella should be ashamed of the misinformation in her Covid19 report last evening. She began by saying that chloroquine is a relatively untested medication which is untrue as it has been used in the treatment of malaria for a number of years. She then presented an interview with a woman who had been using chloroquine to treat Lupus and wanted to bash President Trump for touting chloroquine and thereby creating a shortage in chloroquine supplies. Really Christine, no mention was made of the Governor's order to cease the sale and use of chloroquine and it is all Trump's fault???It is obvious that you either do not do your homework or you are simply presenting FAKE NEWS. Spelling errors on the morning news, errors reporting the news, dumb jokes... how do the morning folks stay on air? How has Jason made it this far in journalism? When he reads the teleprompter it seems like he barely knows how to read! Jason and Monica together are total clowns. They don't even pay attention to the other reporters or to each other. There was once a story about a street being named after Sammy Davis, Jr. The reporter was on scene talking about it. When we went back to Jason and Monica in the studio, it was clear they weren't even paying attention... Jason asked, "Do we have a street in Las Vegas named after Sammy Davis, Jr.?" Uhhh, Jason, what in the world was your colleague just talking about? They are unprofessional and unprepared. I don't know much about journalism, but I know I expect a certain level of professionalism. Can anyone explain to me why is this so called news is just giving and going by half a story?? "Former University of Nevada, Las Vegas football safety player passed away Friday, details of death were not disclosed to the public but a GoFundMe was created to help pay for funeral services" next on a 2nd separate headlines -"Las Vegas Metro responded to a single vehicle accident killing a pedestrian while the driver was impaired and sustained "moderate" injuries due to the accident" and that's it- next up, a trapped dog was left in a parking lot vehicle and police were called after a bystander couldn't find the owner. No further info and or if any charges against the car owner if unsure what specific charges those will be." WTF is that???
