I'm writing this while we're here, about to spend our third night. We spent one night here back in…read more2006 and we enjoyed it, and always remembered this place. At that time, we rented a smaller cabin. This time we're in a 6 seater with a master bed in a room, a cozy upstairs loft, and a futon in the living room. This one advertises to accommodate 6, and it will. Pete and Lynn are great, they make sure you're comfortable, but as the previous reviewer stated, they're not nosy. They even keep movies on hand for folks to watch in their cabins, which our 4 year old much appreciated. This place has changed quite a bit in the 12 years since we were last here, but it seems to have only gotten better. It's off the beaten path, phone service works but is spotty at times...but it's Frankston, not Plano, so you should expect that going forward. The cabins are clean, well maintained, ours had a coffee pot, electric range/oven, two window units, two space heaters, a small TV and a VCR/DVD player. If you like East Texas, and you're a lake person, and you like fishing, etc. you'll love this place. We do. Just don't book it when we wanna book it.

http://www.campingfriend.com/skytraqsrvresort/…read more Stayed here with my wife and my dog for 4 nights when we attended a Music Festival in Palestine. Very secluded and off-the-beaten-path on Lake Palestine. The Cabin was extremely clean. We found one little problem that seemed to have been 'hidden' by a previous renter but Pete had it cleaned up in 30 seconds. He and Lynn were very helpful when needed but not nosy. There are 6-7 cabins of various luxury/size for rent as well as a few RV sites. 2 cabins have lake views but everything is close as the park is not large. Most of the cabins have a fenced dog run attached. They also supply towels to dry your dog if it decides to go swimming! There's a boat ramp and a pier/dock. Lots of shade. Picnic area, 'pet' horses, 'campfire ring', volleyball net, horseshoe pitch. The stars at night are breathtaking! As is sunrise over the lake! There's also a dog agility training place about 7 minutes away. Near to Tyler, Athens and Palestine. Pros: Perfect for folks traveling with pets. Very secluded. close to nature. great for fishermen. Good for families that like rustic accommodations. Good for small family reunions or couples traveling together.(a couple of the cabins have a shared wall or porch) Cons: very rustic, gravel/dirt roads could be dusty or muddy. No wifi (free wifi at Dairy Queen 5 miles away) If you like the seclusion of camping or like traveling with your dog but need a TV and shower and a kitchen - this is a great place!

Five stars for everything including perfect, honest descriptions on the website. Helped me find exactly what I was looking for. Full kitchen and nice A/C. Updated bathroom with nice shower. There is a TV with digital broadcast and a dvd player. New where it needs to be and antique where it should be. Our stay was serene amongst old farm buildings, a creek, small ponds and lots of wildlife. Nearest neighbors are acres away including a local cop (we heard) and a couple of farmers. Mineola is about 10 minutes away and filled our weekend with restaurants and small town shopping. We also hit Winnsboro, TX about 30 minutes away to view some of our old family's residences from back in the day. Being in the event business, I could appreciate how the proprietor took one of the large barns and turned it into an open air special event facility with lighting, small stage, bar, picnic area and a clean smooth new floor for catering, weddings, concerts and reunions. If I lived in that area, I would use the heck out of it. The coordinator or the guest of honor and family could stay on site in the cottage while the rest of the party could stay in town at the ever expanding group of hotels. I think it would be cool to tent camp with some other couples out here with the cottage as home base. (haven't asked the owner yet.)

Mineola offers great restaurants and over 100 antique dealers throughout many shops and malls. Close to Canton First Mondays and Lake Fork. Multiple original farm buildings make up "Homestead Farms", including a large party barn available for weddings, family picnics and other events. Several small farm ponds for catch and release fishing. Cattle roam the surrounding pastures.

And wait until you see those stars at night! The owners are lovely people. You can tell that they really care about the horses under their care and the grounds are well maintained. If you would like a beautiful, quiet space to spend quality time alone with your horse, your family - or both - do yourself a favor and come to Crossroads Ranch - you will not regret it!

I can only speak on the boarding side of things, but you're paying a high price (which was raised…read moreseveral times even after paying your board for that month, they would raise it again and expect you to pay the extra) for a run down facility. The site online does not represent the property in the least. Upon arrival, we walked the property and had to clean it up, pound in and/or remove nails, picked up boards with nails sticking out, blocked off sections with sharp slabs of metal and misc. other unsafe objects. At the time, the site online said hay was included in the monthly price- which it was not. I provided all my own feed with the amounts that were to be fed morning and night- I found that my horses were not getting fed morning and night and they weren't even getting fed what I provided. When we returned after visiting family for the holidays, my horses were out of water- the feed I purchased before we left had hardly been fed- there were signs that the horses had gotten into the tack room and were free feeding themselves (I was praying none of them were going to colic) but the worst part of it was that they were all underweight and acted starved. I could clearly see that they were not cared for. In my opinion, if you're going to charge a competitive rate, your facility needs to be safe. And if they say they will feed your horses- I expect that to happen. 10/10 I would not recommend boarding your horses at this facility.

I hate that I'm just now getting to post this review because this place, by far, deserves a good…read morereview! My husband and I decided that this would be the year that we took our first family vacation with our son. We came here from Aug. 2nd (Thursday) through the 5th (Sunday evening). Our son would be heading back to school on the 16th, so this was a nice end-of-the-summer getaway before starting a new year. First, I'll start with the area itself that the retreat is located: Jacksonville is what I'd call "simple." It has lots of trees and country roads - a beautiful scenic place. The town itself has a Walmart and a decent amount of restaurants to satisfy your inner-city needs. The farm (Elijah's Retreat) is located on a large piece of land and owns horses/ponies, goats, donkeys, chickens, ducks, rabbits, and an awesome little kitty named Lucky. There are 3 cabins. My family occupied Cabin No.1 directly located across from the playground. It was a perfect little piece of seclusion that we'd been yearning for since living in a big city. I have no complaints whatsoever about the cabin. It was spacious, clean, and had plenty of donated items to keep you comfortable (i.e. sheets, towels, dishes, etc.). The air conditioning functioned perfectly in the sweltering summer. The quietness of sleeping in the country was amazing. Each morning around 9:30, Jason would drive by on his tractor and start the day off by feeding the animals, which the children were encouraged to help with. By the time the feeding would end, the kids would be at the main barn where most of the toys are kept. My son spent most of his time playing with the train sets. There is a sensory room (air-conditioned) in the corner of the barn as well. The thing I liked the most about this place was that the expense did not run us into the ground like some other places I won't mention. I know that can be an extra worry for families with autistic kids. This place was safe and was worth every penny. Our little family enjoyed ourselves immensely and can't wait to come back for another getaway. I'll end this review by praising Cheryll and Jason for what they're doing. Thank you both SO MUCH for making this place available. We had an awesome time :)

There's lots to do (animals, playground, sensory room, sound room, activity barn, clubhouse, etc.) and the rates are very affordable considering you get an entire cabin to yourself. The staff is great and you're treated like family. We only spent one night, but we'll definitely be back and hope to become regulars.
