I thought using an independent insurance agent would result in the most competitive rates across…read moreseveral insurers and continued monitoring to ensure they are still competitive in the ensuing years. I guess my expectations were way off base. Once Nolen Agency signs you up with insurers, I doubt any rate comparison is ever done until specifically requested. I was a client for over 7 years. I noticed my homeowners rate with Travelers increasing by leaps and bounds in recent years. I began requesting a review for competitive pricing for over a year, but received nothing. Then, I recently purchased a new vehicle and added it to my existing auto policy with Safeco, now Liberty Mutual. I thought wow, that seems expensive. I did some competitive shopping with a different independent agent and reduced my auto rate for two vehicles from $2,700 to $1,000 annually with identical coverage. Being a group of insurance agents, I would think they could look at a policy quote and conclude the rate is rather exorbitant and perhaps take the initiative to compare... You know, watch out for their clients. If you have this expectation, you should find a different insurance agent. Also, when you cancel your policies expecting a prorated refund, there will be additional surprises in store for you.
