They designed and built the perfect deck for our home!…read more When we purchased our home 3 years ago, the original 30-year old deck was there, and the home inspector was quick to tell us it would never hold "party weight" and to replace it soon. We never even allowed a table on it for fear of too much weight ripping it from the side of our home. In the Fall of 2012, we were finally in a position financially to take on a brand new deck. Add A Deck was one of three companies we received bids from. They were generally pretty easy to get ahold of, their bid was fair, and most importantly their help in designing the new deck was invaluable. Our old deck never had stairs from the second story to the backyard, so we had wanted to make the new deck larger and include stairs to allow easier access to our backyard (previous access was only through the basement or around the side of house). They had the knowledge of local building code (some other companies proposed things we later discovered were against code), they supported our requirement of pulling a permit, and they also did not blow us off when they realized we were interested in a real wood deck vs composite. They do composite, and I'm sure they do it well, but for many reasons we chose to do a real wood deck and they were complete professionals. Other companies tried to convince us why wood was bad, or flat out refused the job. Their builders were true craftsman who took obvious pride in the opportunity to craft the "old fashioned" way. The builders were personable and did a great job keeping the job site clean. It went up very quickly and we love it! We even ran into a minor issue with the permit expiring. We had been under the impression from Add a Deck that we had one year from issuance to complete the missing item for approval (we had to do a concrete landing pad in yard from stairs, which Add a Deck had told us would be required), and since it was built in the Fall we had to wait until Spring to even consider that portion. Unexpectedly, when we called to have an inspector out once we complete the concrete, we were informed the permit had expired and had to be reissued. Tony, the owner, was very helpful and professional in helping us resolve this inconvenience, and I truly appreciate his professionalism. I highly recommend this company. So many companies like this can be "fly by night" but I never felt taken advantage of and I feel like the work was completed on schedule. Buerger Brothers Construction built an addition to our home, which included a 700+ square foot garage, using concrete poured on Piers and a floor poured as a "Slab on void" due to bad soils report. They also built a new deck, and managed front yard landscaping. They are an honest, ethical, professional, and an excellent company to do business with. We started planning in May of 2019, with construction from June through October of 2020, we found ways to work during the early days of the Covid pandemic. Communicating with Christian was a breeze, he was easy to talk to, responsive, professional and truly cares about what you are conveying. Because I am a retired engineer I had to stick my nose into everything... From the beginning he brought in professionals from the Architect, Structural Engineers to the finishing Carpenter and Painter, each step was amazing and all within budget. The cadre of subcontractors hired by Burger Brothers had to meet a high standard of professionalism and produce a high quality product, they were all wonderful to work with. Of note, was the daily cleanup, the care taken and the security to the existing area, especially working in the midst of a pandemic! Inconvenience was kept to a minimum and in the end we can actually say the complete project went quite smoothly and was a great experience. Would I hire them to do it again? Absolutely "In a heartbeat, no doubt about it!" I just cannot brag enough about this company and I promise you will not regret your decision to hire Christian and his crew! I worked with MetalArc on a highly custom and challenging stair railing. I asked them to translate…read morea sprial staircase design to my linear, right-angle staircase. Most railing companies said that they couldn't do it. MetalArc was one of the few willing to accept the challenge and the unknowns that came with it. They worked hard to understand my vision and priorities. I am very particular in what I want and don't want. They respected that and were not put off by it. They are very, very kind people. The project gave them challenges beyond their expectations, but they were patient and stuck with it each time. I am thrilled with the final result. On my end, there were a few challenges as well. I had to be extremely patient with the schedule. The project was bid at a flat rate, however, they increased it when they had a better understanding of the project. This was after I was already committed and had made a large deposit. I was frustrated by that because I thought the project was clear from the beginning since I had a picture of what I wanted to replicate. The payment installments were confusing and, as things took longer, they added new installments. I had to be firm that the final installment would be paid when the project was done. They had a few employees turnover which directly impacted my project. All but one did great work; but the one caused some major hiccups as did the transitions in general. We finished the project as a team. The results are beautiful. We are on good terms. We are planning to work together again, thankfully on a much more straightforward project!

They were incredibly adaptive when handling late changes (specifically on retaining wall scope), communicated well, and finished the work when they said that they would. That initial project completely has completely changed our backyard. Because of their outstanding work on the fence, we brought them back to handle a much larger project: a new deck covered with a roof extension and associated electrical work for lighting, a fan, and electric heater. During the planning phase, they worked patiently with us through multiple iterations of the initial bid to ensure we got everything we wanted in the scope. The finished deck and roof extension has far exceeded our expectations and has truly transformed our house and outdoor living space. Our previous deck was rundown and downright dangerous, we now spend some time enjoying the new deck daily. On top of their outstanding craftsmanship, they handled all the permitting and inspections seamlessly. They are a genuinely capable team--equally skilled at the detailed physical labor as they are at managing the paperwork and ensuring customer satisfaction. For both projects, I gathered quotes from three different contractors, and Quality Contracting's pricing was extremely competitive. I started to leave another voicemail and my voicemail was randomly disconnected in the middle, which was weird (also a feature many networks let you do if you preview the voicemail and decide not to proceed). So I sent a text and he called me back immediately. This part felt better honestly, finally able to talk to someone. I sent him my name and address via text, he will send me date and time options for scheduling. Later a few days later, the team texted me saying they would like pictures instead. This is Friday, July 19, 2024 per the text timestamps (can be provided for verification if needed to Yelp or anyone else). He requested pictures and was obviously not scheduling an appointment. I was not able to take the pictures immediately the same day. They were sent over approx one week later on July 27th as I had a personal emergency to prioritize. Instead of a poor quality pictures, I decided to take my time, do a detailed walk through and take two videos. I even took the time to zip it up for him and upload it to dropbox (public easy to download link, industry used for over 10+ years and intuitive). They responded by telling me that: "Your videos are not viewable. I don't believe I will be the best contractor for you. The major delay of response is not a good first sign for communication for me. Also I am not available to look at your project this week. Let alone start till mid October. I wish you the best and hope your project goes well." This is laughable, they were hard enough to get ahold of the first time, they never came out to give an estimate as agreed in first phone call and then they give me an attitude when I go out of my way to give them a detailed video instead of crappy pictures. Obviously I am proceeding with someone else, but this was a weirdly disappointing experience. This business is blacklisted and blocked in my books and they are not welcome to bid of any of my work, ever. I find it weird they have so many other 5 star reviews that contradict the experience I had so I am exercising my first amendment right to share what happened with me. P.S. We have a house with a nice west facing view in the back yard. We installed a new deck, but needed…read morethat finishing touch of an awning to shield the deck (and Great Room) from that blazing afternoon summer sun. Enter Best Awning Company. I called them for an estimate. The owner, Tyler, happened to be finishing up an estimate in Parker and he was at our place within about 20 minutes. That is responsive! He looked over the area, took measurements, and reviewed our options, including brands, styles, features, colors, etc. We elected to go with the KE Durasol for the deck and a Sunsetter Easy Shade for the pergola. We opted to get the motorized version for both. Given the size of the awning we wanted, the product had to be ordered, but it was not a long wait, about 4 weeks (probably a little less). The crew showed up on time, were highly professional and did quality work. We even had to have some extra support work done given the span of our awning (pushing 20'). The crew engineered the proper solution and completed installation of the awning and the screen in about 4 hours. The product and quality of work was fantastic. As a side note, we had some high winds, resulting in a slight final adjustment. Tyler came out and made the adjustments himself and things have worked flawlessly ever since then. We are extremely pleased we went with the electric versions of the products as well as the products themselves. Tyler was very responsive, professional and helpful as was Teresa, coordinating everything from the office. The installation crew was top notch. I'd highly recommend them to anyone. Just so you know, I recommended them to my in-laws and they are extremely happy with their awning as well. (You know I have to like the product and company to recommend them to the in-laws. :D)
