Good idea if you have no other obligations in life. If you are an adult who is not supported by someone, I would not go to this school. It is for young adults who do not need to work and make money. It is full time, plus homework at night and over most Saturday's and Sunday's. Don't let them fool you, if you have no education with science this will be very hard for you as the program is very fast and offers little help to student's (even though they charge twice as much as a real school that would have tutors). The help they offer is from other fellow student's who are trying to figure out everything as well, so it is a poor situation if you need extra assistance at this school. I recently graduated from Fox for the Medical Assistant program in July 2018. I have personally been to 3 other different colleges before I came here and didn't even get to finish more than 3 months because basically it really didn't feel like instructors were interested in what the students needed, but this was definitely different. What caught my eye was the small class size. Granted that when I started we were about 17 students, and by the time we finished the program only 11 of us walked the stage. I believe it was due to the program being accelerated. Apart from that, most think that the Medical Assisting program was going to be a piece of cake. But not a lot of people took advantage of the resources given in the school. I definitely recommend this school, but be prepared to put a lot of work and effort because there will definitely be a lot of homework. read more

Fox College - Classroom - Colleges & Universities Near Me - Tinley Park, Illinois

Here is MY PERSONAL pro/con list of my experience @ Fox College in the OTA program. Cons: -Since Fox is a private, for-profit college, the tuition is basically 3x what a community school's tuition is. I paid for my first semester and I still have $25k in student loans that start in December [2019]. At a community college, you may pay $15k total for the degree, but at Fox its nearly $40k -Since it is still a newly accredited program, it's still working out the kinks and trying to get into the groove of things. There was a lot of disorganization amongst the teachers and very many miscommunications regarding assignments and exams -One teacher in particular admitted to being very disorganized and frequently lost student's work whether or not they were on paper or via email -I was filling up on gas at least once a week w my commute - so add that cost to the tuition and that's at least another $120/month -Occasionally in class, I felt that the teachers treated us like we were high school students and not adults pursuing a 2nd/3rd career -Fox doesn't actually help you with job placement Pros: -I would say that all of the teachers truly care about the students passing. Whether or not it's for the positive stats of the school, I am not sure -The curriculum is meant to teach you what you NEED to know about the field of OT, they cut all the other BS out -The teachers are pretty open to suggestions from the class, for the most part. Sometimes we felt like we didn't have a voice, but I remember a handful of times where we mentioned something to the teachers about a better way for us to learn and they put it into action -We had frequent proficiency exams where we learned how to perform a test or evaluation and then were required to act it out and prove competency. Though these were high-stress times, I feel that over all they were essential -I had really great experiences on all of my Fieldwork placements. I didn't like all of the settings, but I had good experiences with my CIs. My Fieldwork sites truly prepared me for the board exam and practice -I finished with my degree and I am certified a year and a half after beginning the program The reason I went with Fox was because I had applied to other community colleges for the same program, but it was 2x as long as the Fox program was and the wait-list was up to 2-years long! I applied to those programs with a 3.5 GPA, a bachelor's degree, and 150+ hours of OT shadowing and volunteering and I still didn't make the cut. Since I didn't have debt from my undergrad, I decided "why not give Fox a chance". Fox is twice as expensive, but half as long as other programs. Fox is accredited by the appropriate boards for OT and it is one of only a few accredited accelerated OTA programs in the nation. It's not an easy process to get accredited, so I give Fox that credit. Pretty soon, the OTA degree will become a bachelor's degree, so if you've already been accepted into the program, you should keep your head up and tough through it. I am familiar with school-related stress and I didn't think the miscommunications regarding assignments were that big of a deal in the long run. As students, you'll always have a teacher you're not fond of and you will always have a class that you feel you do not perform the best in. However, you tough through it and you do what you need to do to pass. I had that mindset throughout the duration of the program and I passed my boards with room to spare on the first try. If you put in the work, you will get the outcome you hope for. Any program (especially accelerated) you begin will stress you out. That isn't necessarily specific to Fox College, its specific to the type of program it is. This program is strict and time-consuming. They have a strict attendance policy that they inform you about on the orientation of the program so you are not taken by surprise. Though, if something comes up (accidents happen), they will try hard to work with you. My personal examples; I had two hip surgeries during the year-long course work and I was in a car accident that nearly totaled my car on the way to school. The teachers and director worked with me & helped me stay on track. Because of surgery restrictions, I finished [only] 2-weeks after my class. One piece of advice: it is so incredibly important to maintain a positive attitude and perspective/focus on the end goal. Accelerated programs are STRESSFUL. Keep your head high and focus on your goals and how much the degree means to you & good things will come your way. Though it was a stressful 16-months, I truly learned a lot during my experience. In the end, I basically blocked out all the hard times and stressful moments at Fox because I passed my exam and I no longer have to worry about it. One tip: don't take your gen-ed courses at Fox. They are far less expensive at community schools. What got me through the program was the friends I made, wine, and venting to my boyfriend... I hope this helped! read more

I graduated from the Business school, with an associated degree that isn't worth the paper it is written on. The credits don't transfer anywhere, even though I was talked into the associates degree by the administration saying they WOULD transfer. (At the time they were not accredited. Those of us who went to this school pre-accreditation do not get the benefits of accreditation, and the credits do not transfer, no matter how high your GPA.) I spent close to $22k on this worthless piece of paper I don't even put on my resume. Why don't I put this on my resume, after spending the money on a glorified typing degree? Because I have lost out on job offers as a result of going here. Let that sink in for a moment. People denied me and rescinded job offers as a result of having Fox College on my resume. It's that bad of a college. Also, their placement records are artificially inflated. Yes, they placed 90% of their graduates (or whatever number they are spouting off these days) but what they don't tell you is that they can place you into a job that pays a whopping $10/hr. If you refuse that job, they still count that in their placement rate. e.g. they placed you, but you refused. If you really, really want a Associates of Applied Sciences (and you shouldn't) then go to a community college. The credits will transfer because community colleges have never NOT been North Central accredited, it will be substantially cheaper, and no one will openly ask you in a job interview why you were so foolish as to go to a "scam college" (true story.) The administration will try to sell you on the rigor and curriculum, and say that people who don't like their school obviously couldn't "hack it." I assure you, I graduated from this institution, I could "hack it," and now I am deeply ashamed to say I am a graduate of this mockery of education. tl;dr DO NOT GO HERE read more

In this school, they want the best. A top notch amount of high schoolers and mother's who are looking for an opportunity; what about the college graduates who wanted to try this path? If you have ever gotten a withdrawal or messed up in a class, they won't even look at you despite your redemption and achievements you've gotten in your college career. Take it from me: I was trying to be a DPT but missed the app deadline, so I tried to do PTA because it was quicker to get in. I was a college student who was a part of Phi Theta Kappa (the oldest honors society) and have completed 600 hours of geriatric practice (internship and observation hours). Along with that, most of my grades were As and Bs despite having a visual disability. What happened? Despite my achievements, the classes I failed due to lack of transportation because of this disability was the only thing they looked at. Despite my redeeming grades, I was rejected. No questions, and no specifications of what I did wrong until I pestered them on the phone. In general, if you had a failed grade (that you got an A in after), withdrew from a class, or anything of the sort, disability or not, don't bother trying with them. Fox college is not a good school to attend. I was a previous student in Fox College in RDH program, which is an unorganized school!! The only people who i must be honest about how they do their job the correct way is Financial aid staff and Mrs. S my instructor from preclinic. But from their on its a mess starting from teacher and teachers downstairs in preclinic like Mrs. Edwards. I was descriminated based on my sexuality in certainf moments during my preclinic based on being gay, sometimes she would make jokes try to insult me in fromt of my classmates which i think its unprofessional from a teacher if thats how you can call. Others will fall asleep in class during presentation. Or pick on students that sometimes wont even say a word in class. Some of my classmates will sometimes be called out by teachers in front of the class that will make them feel bad that some of them will lead them to have melt downs. Cleary the first day of class one teacher told us i do not like polish and greek ethnicities when she clearly new that a few of my class mates where tose ethnicities. Fox college is based on favoritism and money. I was not able to continue on based on a personal issue i had during test. I sended a petition to hopefully get accepted back the president Mrs. Tucci reached out to me 1 and 15 days later, after i gether every single detail she told me i needed to come back, of course with furst letting me know if you want to come back we need you to pay all the money or else you cant come back. When baisically when a president from a school that has already been close should be helping you in another way not saying pay the money and then we will se what kind of education where they offering. We started the program with 32 students in june by August we ended up with 24, just that they brought students from cohorts above us so the class room wont bee that emptu based on the number of student. At the end of the term our grades where not post based on grade issues that they where trying to curve 80% of the class grade based on the scores that we have achieved, because they would not give us thw correct material to study.
