I hadn't been in a classroom in several years and I was a bit apprehensive if not terrified ! But I was pleasantly surprised at how welcoming the teachers and students were. The teacher that I had was Mary. She was very upbeat and informative. She made sure that we understood everything that she was teaching before moving on to the next lesson. She was strict about safety and procedures, which I appreciated and respected. Mary was always available before and after class. Upon graduating, the Stars Academy staff still made themselves available for any questions that I had. I would 100% recommend this school.

Kindercare care was clean, the staff seemed friendly and the hours were convenient for our work schedules. We thought we'd try it out and see how are daughter adjusted to the environment. Before moving to DG we had a nanny and we wanted her to have exposure to other children. It's been over a year now and we're very happy with the care our daughter has received. Our daughter loves going their each day and is learning a lot from their lesson plan. The staff is very proactive in addressing issues; though we have had very few. If a parent has a concern, they respond and follow up immediately. I don't agree that the staff are overwhelmed. With a classroom of 2 year olds it's going to be a bit noisy. But, the staff is great at settling the mood of the room. Since the first week, I have felt at ease and confident that my daughter is getting the best care possible. I highly recommend considering the DG Kindercare.

I know this is a low blow but they earned it…read more Laura is the wedding lady at St Geralds and her favorite word must be awkward because she uses it ALOT. She gave us misinformation several times including forgetting to tell us about an extra $200 fee due to them until just about 1 month prior to the wedding. Funny part is that $200 was to pay a music director and if that person was even there I don't know but if they were they must be one of the rudest people on earth for not saying hello and congrats. We just had problem after problem with this wedding co-coordinator lady, we did not switch because she told us she would not be there on wedding day two other ladies would. At rehersal she was there and I did tell the other wedding ladies that I kindly ask that she not be present at the ceremony and guess what. She didn't show up and everything went fine. Not sure what that means but, unless St Gerald's Church has some sort of meaning to you look elsewere. Also on a personal note I think churches with center isles are best for weddings and St Gerald's does not have a center isle!

My program, Addictions Studies moved to Kennedy King College from Harold Washington College back in…read moreFall 2016, resulting in me transferring to this campus. Most of the classes I took on this campus pertained to the degree I pursued which were mostly social work, mental health and a child development class. Kennedy King College is a very relaxed environment and the classroom sizes are intimate which gives you opportunities to get to know your classmates and more time with the professors. The social work and mental health professors I have had are very knowledgeable because most still work in the fields they are teaching. And as semesters went by, I regularly found myself returning to old valid notes in realization of how amazing my social work, and mental health professors were in preparation. Most of the books we utilized were up-to-date with the books used at Chicago State University or Governor State University. As for the staff, I have not encountered many rude staff members. For the most part, the onse I have encountered are laid back and down to earth, but you still have the few that are not the friendliest. Like any other college campus you will have students that are not as serious in their studies in comparison to others, such as seeming like it is a high school reunion versus putting in the work in the library or computer lab to get studies done. Do not be the one! Get the work done and move on! If I can give any advice to any new students, I would say research the program you want to study and the classes you need to take that are part of it. And always make sure your FASFA is submitted prior to completing an application because it will make things somewhat smoother once you enter the campus. It will seem like a rough ride, but you will get the hang of the process, as far as where online to choose classes and once you visit campus who to see. The Veteran Services Center is nowhere near what I have experienced at Harold Washington College, but it is ok! I think that it is because Harold Washington College has more veterans on campus and younger versus Kennedy King College, so more work is put into the program. Other than that, I have not had any issues with my Post 911 nor Illinois Veterans Grant paperwork being submitted. Located on the campus is a pool, gym, and a cafeteria with reasonably priced foods, which I may have shared pictures of. I cannot speak about the pool, but the gym is very nice! It is equipped with enough workout stations that will assist you with staying fit during the semester. I loved working out in-between class because it helped me clear my mind going into class, plus relieved that the workout is done. All, the pool, gym, and cafeteria are located in the 'W' building. The college sits right outside of CTA Halsted and has a Divvy bike share, if that's your thing! There is also a huge parking lot, if you wish to drive to campus. Kennedy King College is not a bad school, however, the area may be sketchy during the evening hours, but I have not encountered anything crazy as of yet! I think many students avoid taking classes here due to the campus being in Englewood, but I assure you there is not anything to worry about, as long as you are not up to no good off campus you will have a great time at Kennedy King College. However, he was met with sarcasm and rudeness from the people who were theyre to give him the information. He's a first generation college student so he's starting from scratch and these people kind of changed his excitement for starting here. I don't take kindly to people who dislike their jobs and takes it out on the very people they should be helping. They know they're in a predominately black neighborhood they should be more helpful, receptive and polite!

She stands outside in the morning to greet and get the kids out of the cars and stands outside after school to waive us parents goodbye through all weather. My son has ADHD and struggles with staying on track. His social worker and teacher have been very accommodating; MsDycus, MsEdmondson. Especially with finding ways for my son to stay focused and on track to be able to learn. Just very pleased with this school so far. Only been two years and it's been a great experience so far.
