I've only visited Downtown and Clovis Library and compared to this location it's quite small. I had my two children with me during my visit. I initially came to get library cards for all of us. As I entered I saw there was a stack of papers to apply for a library card. The lady at the front desk was way in the back but noticed me and greeted and approached me. I just asked to confirm if those were the forms to be filled out. After filling them out I went back to the front desk and she assisted me and was able to get our library cards a few mins after. My daughter wanted to play in the children's s area as she noticed a play kitchen so we did just that. They had a calendar of activities for the month. There were actually quite a bit of people inside on the computer and desk area. I sat down at one of the tables and noticed the tables and chairs could use a good wipe down. Bathrooms are always clean and stocked with tissue and paper towels. There is a water fountain with a bottle fill spout right outside the bathroom. I dropped off my overdue book in the book slot and then we headed to the kids room so the older kiddos could do their homework. No pencils in backpacks, ugh. The air conditioning in this library is better than the air conditioning in my own house. It's very quiet inside, and staff is friendly. I needed a new library card (lost mine) and we got that situated in about 5 minutes! Printers only take silver coins, so make sure you have those on hand. There are also quite a few people facing homelessness that stay inside for long periods of time, but everything is still really quiet and peaceful. There is always a security guard at the front door.

The kids area is spacious and has great book selection and fun crafts to enjoy. My teens were able to explore the anime section, and there were chess and checkers to play. There were also puzzles out to play as well. The library is full of interesting books, magazines, cds, dvds, etc. I would recommend to set aside at least 2 hours to enjoy the full library. The staff are weird and watched us like we're going to steal, although the library is full of unhoused transients, and we were just a family enjoying the library. Very uncomfortable and not welcoming! Will we be back? Yes, because family fun in Fresno is limited and we do enjoy the library. Can they improve the experience, definitely. We usually spend about 45 minutes to an hour inside just browsing around... If you have a library card you can rent up to 25 books and keep them for 3 weeks! I don't need 25 books I usually get myself one and get 3 for my son so he can read and use them for his homework. I have been paying for parking using my phone it's about 1.50 for my hour using the parking meter. There are a lot of homeless outside but they give out smiles and don't bother nobody at all but if it's your first time there it can be a little nerve wracking. The few books I have rented were brand new. I did spill a little bit of coffee on it and I told them when I tuned it on and they said it was still in great condition. My son loves the kid selection and even he gets excited to read. Don't go out and buy a book when you can rent it from out own Fresno library

The librarian read 3 books that were part of the Lunar Year genre and in between had some mini interactive song activities. Love that my daughter participated. At the end of storytime they crafted a Snake and that was definitely my 3yo favorite. It's nice that the public libraries provide these kinds of free activities for the kids. My daughter did a great job listening though at times it was a bit challenging to hear. Would love to join in another Storytime event. Plenty of free parking.
