In august of this year I purchased a truck cap from Four Winds in Eldridge, IA. A friend recommended I consider buying a cap from them. Based on his purchase of a truck cap and seeing his, I decided to give them my business. I purchased a top of the line Century truck cap from them. Three weeks later it was delivered as promised. I had my wife drive our Ford F-150 to his shop to have it installed. (I was out of town at the time.) When I returned home, I washed the truck and cap and found a buffing mark and two scratches in the side glass panel. I returned to the dealer and he agreed to order a new window to replace the damaged one. He called me a week later to set up the window change. During the removal of the old window, they damaged the fiberglass cap. He told me he would have to send it back to Century to be repaired and painted and that he turn around time would be three weeks. Three weeks went by no call or update from Four Winds so I called them to get an update on delivery. Two days later no call from Four Winds. I got on the internet and found the Century plant's phone number located in Indiana. I spoke with the warranty manager and he tracked down my cap status. This should have been the dealer's responsibility. The warranty manager told me it was repaired. I asked if it would be delivered before the end of the week because I needed it for a fishing trip to MN. Four Winds knew I needed back by then. The warranty manager agreed to ship the cap that week upon my request. Communication from the dealer was poor at best on every aspect of the warranty work. I received it in time for the fishing trip. When I washed and inspected the paint and glass replacement, both were sub-standard. The repair area on the fiberglass was visible through the paint and dull. The replacement window glass was wavy and deformed. I took it to a local body shop for an independent evaluation. His opinion confirmed my thoughts as sub-standard workmanship. At this point I had enough from Four Winds and Century. I returned to the dealer and demanded a full refund. He agreed and removed the nightmare off my truck. I will never recommend Four Winds for a truck cap purchase. Century and Leer caps are manufactured in the same Indiana plant. Beware of both brands. I have since ordered a ARE brand cap. I'm hoping for a quality product from them. I received neither from Four Winds and Century. read more
