Is wanting an early morning coffee an American thing? I want to get up at five, have some coffee and go down to the gym before the day starts. Maybe a little coffee maker in the room even? -The hotel gym, while beautifully situated in this cool little converted room/free standing outbuilding deeper on the grounds, consisted of two or three cardio machines. No free weights, no weight machines. -the Restaurant Park Laurin (again, in a BEAUTIFUL environment under a canopy on the grounds) was good but not great. -The lobby was pretty sweltering when we first entered. (in June) But enough minor complaints. Overall, the place was pretty awesome. Just old-school enough, very charming, spacious rooms, amazing grounds to walk around (see pix), all the staff were great, deluxe breakfast buffet. The cocktail we had on the Laurin Bar patio overlooking the lush, green grounds made for one of the best moments of the 4 days in Bolzano.

We arrived very late (2:30am) and the staff was accommodating our arrival ensuring that our keys and such were available for us. The rooms were great but the grounds, breakfast, staff, and catering to cyclists was the best. As we interacted with the staff we suspected they were family as they all clearly looked like sisters...and we were right. Family owned for quite some time and the care and attention to detail shows. The attitude of friendliness to us at every moment was very nice. The front grounds were amazingly kept and welcoming to just sit and enjoy the sun and conversation. For us it presented a great place for some après refreshments as we eased our sore legs. The hotel is perfectly located for cyclists. While we didn't partake in the promoted Stelvio Experience (we had arranged outer own courses for the 3 days) it did look like quite a good organization if you hadn't arranged a plan in advance. The hotel and Bormio are perfectly located for riding. We didn't use our car at all and were able to ride Stelvio, Gavia, Mortirolo and other areas with ease. The hotel itself caters to cyclists with an amazing secure bike room and all the tools you could need to give your ride a tune each day and wash afterwards. Really fantastic. And the laundry service for your cycling kit also was very welcome. The front desk also carries some gels and electrolytes for purchase if you need some. While we didn't partake in the restaurant for dinner, the breakfast was amazing. An array of very tasty options to please everyone. Coffee, latte, espresso machine accommodates those in your party who drink coffee. And if you don't there are plenty of other fresh fruit juices to enjoy. Fantastic breakfast to start the day. Very friendly and helpful staff, very nice restaurant, large and deluxe room with a huge bathroom, lots of hot water, lots of towels, very comfortable bed... All in a beautiful building right in the center of town with a great patio. Exactly what I needed. Low key and all about comfort. I enthusiastically recommend.

It is a super great deal especially you don't have to drive outside after sauna. The food looks modern. My only complain is that there are no soul in their food. The plating looks amazing, but the sauces on the plate feels so disconnected. I feel like some of the ingredients are only put on the plant for presentation. And not every ingredients are meaningful on the dish. The morning breakfast bar however, was really great. Lots of local ingredients to choose from and they have a great selections of honey. I would recommend staying at this hotel and try their dinner. Just don't be expecting a Michelin Star meal then you should really enjoy this place.

The spa was one of the best I've experienced and every bit deserving of its five-star rating. The alpine ski has miles of mostly blue runs. But what this high plateau lacks in grade it makes up for in high altitude expanse. One of the highlights for me was Nordic skiing. There are extensive trails running throughout with something for every skill level. Next time I'll book it as a Nordic skiing and spa vacation.

Breathtaking view with long gorgeous pistes that are catered mostly to intermediate skiers made this my favorite ski resort. The spectacular panoramic view of the Alps exceeds Obereggen and Alta Badia by far, it's hands down the best scenic resort. It's probably one of the most popular ski destination with the possible celebrity sightings such as F.Alonso, Massa, Valentino Rossi who are some of the regulars. With 19 lifts (5 gondolas, 12 chair lifts, 2 surface lifts) the resort offers skiers an incredible 1000 metres (3281 feet) of vertical descent and has 35 pistes with a total length of 60 kilometers. I snowboarded here during the week of Xmas from Dec.23 to Dec. 28 and I cannot ask for any better time to come here..... the pistes were almost empty!!! Since most people prefer to stay home with their family during the Xmas week, we got such an amazing deal for 4 nights stay with 4 days ski pass, breakfast, and 3 course dinner for only 420 euro from a nearby hotel (Hotel Canada)!! However, starting the 28th the pistes were getting crowded and the price hiked. I would definitely go back again...... I can't wait!!!!

The entire hotel just feels very perfect with the castle decor, and then the traditional vespas out front to rent, and a garage full of very fancy cars. While we were running in and out to explore Bolzano and the entire area, we definitely noticed that most of the guests seemed to be there purely to enjoy the hotel itself and never left, which makes sense. They also have a gym, indoor pool, more saunas etc that I never even used. - Friendly staff - Comfortable and very sizable rooms. I had an entire balcony plus a rooftop terrace for myself overlooking the valley. The bathroom (and especially the shower) was fantastic. They also provide everything you'll need for the pool in a cute tote bag. - great breakfast!! An extensive buffet and friendly service. Cons: - No AC, and they ran out of fans when we asked for one. It would make a world of difference if they had screens on the doors and windows - I'm all for allowing outside air to cool down the room, but I also ended up with VERY large insects that I had to.....relocate either physically or spiritually. House centipede and grasshoppers, anyone? - Wish they had communicated better with what the wine tasting offerings were - we only learned that they offered it the following day, when they wouldn't have any more lol. Really fantastic final location for our trip. The entire area is very beautiful and this was a great way to enjoy it.

We had stopped attracted…read moreby an interesting menu and were also able to appreciate the great attentions for Covid and the courtesy of everyone (see my July review). We then decided to return and stay some days at the hotel, and it also deserves the 5 stars, for many reasons. First of all the structure, which instead of being made up of a single large building, has several chalets scattered in the green, furnished with style, great presence of wood, stoves in the rooms, large terraces, ancient objects in the premises and corridors and great attention to the environmental impact. Very interesting is also the offer of different specific packages: "alpine blooms", "spring and golf", "sculpture symposium", "photography and foliage", etc., each one with different trips, visits and initiatives. Finally, a particular appreciation for all the staff: the family, which began this adventure in 1954 with the first three rooms and of which representatives of several generations are present with specific roles and tasks, and all the team, all united by excellence, passion and courtesy.

Ten different type saunas, massages and other beauty packages are offered to meet everyone's individual needs. The food is nothing short of phenomenal. Fresh and presented like a gourmet meal is nothing compared to the taste-over the top. Breakfast is buffet but again, fresh, diverse and plentiful. Lunch is also buffet and us lighter; consisting of soups and salads. You won't be disappointed with a visit to hotel Schwarenstein.
