The Branch at 1501 - Tap beers and cider!

    The Branch at 1501

I've been here a few times for pop up dinners & really love the space!…read more They've kept some of the great old features from the original bank building including an impressive vault. I don't know if the mezzanine is original but it's a cool way to get extra space without separating people. Staff has always been outstanding and their prices are quite reasonable. Big parking lot behind as well. Definitely a great space to consider if you're planning something!

The Branch is an old bank turned event venue, located on the corner of Washington Ave. and Ann St…read more The vault is still there, as is an old teller window and lobby table. The interior has been left with it's original white marble and it is beautiful! There is also a second level balcony. I don't know what it was used for when this housed a bank, but for events, it is set up as an additional dining area with tables for 4. I've been twice now, both times for private dinners. There must be a small kitchen in the back, or a decent sized prep area, at the very least. The area that would have housed the original teller stations has been turned into a bar area with limited selections: about 6 tap beers, a couple of wines, and a few liquors (whiskey, rum, tequila and vodka) along with soda. There is no proper parking lot for this building itself, but there is a very large public parking lot behind the whole block, and there is street parking as well. The Branch is the perfect spot for the monthly dinners that I have attended...not too big and not too small. Cozy, but spacious. It would be the perfect spot for an anniversary party or to celebrate a milestone birthday. I look forward to returning for another dinner and, possibly, a party? 41/2018

Delta Hotels by Marriott Racine - King Room had good pillows

I stayed at Delta Hotels in Racine for 7 days and unfortunately, the experience was far below…read moreexpectations--especially for a property under the Marriott brand. From the start, the hotel's identity was confusing, with signage for both Delta and Fairfield out front. It was unclear what kind of experience we were walking into. At check-in, the agent did not inform us of a scheduled pool closure, nor that all amenities listed on the in-room TV were outdated or unavailable. Rooms were okay but the bathroom was cramped and the shower head does not move which makes showering difficult. There was no in-room dining, and the restaurant was only open for buffet breakfast ($15) and limited dinner service. For a week-long stay, having no reliable food and beverage options on property is a major inconvenience. Even on the weekend, no Bloody Mary's or mimosas--a surprising miss for a hotel. To make matters worse, we received a text asking how check-in went, but when we responded with concerns, no one followed up. If you're going to ask for feedback, you need to act on it. As someone who has worked with Hyatt, Starwood, and Marriott, I know what proper hospitality looks like--and this wasn't it. I won't be returning, and I'd recommend others consider alternative accommodations in the area.

The room's carpet could use a good cleaning (or burning, honestly). And although the room was spacious, it seemed like they removed some furniture as there was a huge area between the bed and window. Maybe it's part of the remodel. I appreciated the managers reception where I was able to have a few beers as well as Fried Pickles and Onion Straws from the BBQ place next door. It was a nice snack before heading out for real dinner later. Parking could also be better as it's not designed very well, and the main elevator is on the end of all the rooms, so if you have a high room number (in the 50s), you have a loooooong walk. Luckily, there's a back entrance with an elevator and better parking. It's not very roller-bag friendly though. I debated staying here again, but for the price, it just wasn't worth it to me compared to some of the newer hotels in the Mt. Pleasant/Racine area.

    Uncorkt - The owner... Tony

There are tables and seating towards the front of the store and an event space upstairs. They have large coolers filled with individual bottles of beer, wine and other beverages. I was impressed by the variety I believe Uncorkt has something for everyone to indulge in. They also have a nice selection of snacks. I was a little underwhelmed with the customer service. There were two employees working and a couple of customers enjoying a bottle of wine when we arrived. None of the staff made eye contact with us or said hello. We browsed around a bit and when I picked a beverage I took it to the counter to ask about their process....do we pay then find a seat, do we start a tab, etc. The person that I spoke with informed me I had to pay for my beverage, and was very short with me when I asked clarification questions - I couldn't get a smile or laugh out of her. I'm sure masks make it hard to understand each other, but the whole interaction felt awkward and not very welcoming. Later a local family that this employee knew came in, and she was very nice warm to them, so I guess she just didn't want to warm up to me. My husband said the other employee was helpful & friendly. We enjoyed sitting by the window and watching the activity along the street while enjoying out beverages, and I would return.

Made me feel silly thinking I was mistaken,....Then hollered across the floor to get my attention to explain how she was mistaken. Very weird vibes overall. Bar was full so we sat near the windows at the tables and mostly had to go back to refill our flights . Great wine, but service and courtesy was skewed! Will not be going back.
