You build it the way you want it. We were there around 9:00 pm on a Friday night and the place was packed although we were lucky enough to locate two seats in the middle of all the action. They'll bring your order to you, and the ladies can store their purses under their seat in a cleverly designed stool with a basket that is thief proof. It may seem like a small thing but actually is quite important given how crowded the place is and how little room there would be to put your bag down anywhere. The niche of Bacoa is that the burgers are offered in a variety of meats including lamb, and built with all organic products. You'll only find locations in Madrid and Barcelona but it looks like an establishment you'd find in Santa Monica or NYC. My burger was HUGE and delicious. The meat was cooked just as I had requested and was tender and juicy. The avocado and bacon I added to the burger complemented it nicely, but I wished I had topped it with the manchego cheese the Spaniards love so much. The chicken burger was also a delicious thin layer of chicken which we paired with a salad to reduce the guilt that came with our meal. The salad is served with no dressing but there is olive oil and vinegar to make your own dressing. One of the highlights of the meal was their spicy sauce that you can find on all the tables. It's delicious on the burger or on your fries. Since we're in Spain we actually opted for the papas bravas version rather than traditional French Fries, which I would highly suggest.

You'll order your burger from a sheet with tickboxes where you choose the type of protein, the toppings, bun and sides. Or have a bowl. Turn in the sheet at the counter and wait for your burger to be prepared to order. Very simple. I opted for the Galician Beef with "Manchego" and a side of the "Bacoa french fries". Nothing complicated and it turned out great. I even managed a San Miguel while I waited for it to be prepared. Very good burger, though done to a rare rather than medium. I lived to tell the tale and ate the entire thing. Yum! It's not fancy but it's reasonably priced (€6.70 for the burger and €2.50 for the fries). Plenty of seating including tables and a narrow counter area next to the kitchen.

My husband & I arrived in Madrid from Seville via the rail station. When we arrived at our hotel…read morethey said it was too early for us to get checked into a room, as it wasn't ready yet. We looked on Yelp for some food suggestions, & my husband made note of Steak Burger place as we were being driven to our hotel. It had some nice reviews, so we thought we'd give it a try. As soon as we walked in, I said "yum" it smelled amazing inside the restaurant!! We were immediately seated at a comfy table for 2, & given a UPC code to look up their full menu. We decided on a steak burger with bacon & cheese. We chose the smallest of the three options, it was more than enough to fill both of us up. It was delicious!! I looked at my husband & said "this is the best beef we've had since we left home (8 weeks ago!)". We've been through 7 other countries since we departed on 5/1/25. The bacon cheeseburger came with fries & they were crispy, yet tender on the inside. After we finished, our waiter (who made sure we had what we needed, but didn't fuss over us) asked if we wanted dessert. My hubby said "what do you have". When our waiter mentioned cheesecake, my husbands eyes lit up & so we ordered their cheesecake. It was one of the largest slices we have ever been served out at a restaurant. It had raspberry crumbles on top of it (I would have preferred chocolate, because what doesn't go with chocolate???). My husband probably would have chosen fresh strawberries on top, but he thoroughly enjoyed the raspberry crumbles. All in all it was a very delicious meal for about 28 euros (not too bad). It was a lively atmosphere, so if you want peace & quiet, it's not the place for you. We split everything we ordered, & we both left quite full. My only negative comment (which may not bother some people) is: Of all of the places we've had meals at over the last 8 weeks in Europe, this one was the most like US restaurants in that they want to turn tables as quickly as possible. They were swamped (we were seated immediately which was a plus for us) but I saw a woman approach our waiter about getting a table in this very busy restaurant, & not long after that, the same waiter approached a couple next to us & within minutes the couple were moved to a table near the rear of the restaurant. The lady who had approached our waiter & her 2 friends were seated at that now vacant table. Shortly after that, a young guy sitting at a high top bar looking table, by himself, was moved to somewhere else in the restaurant & 3 young ladies ended up with his original table. As we were leaving I noticed the three young ladies moving. Another couple was standing near our table, were apparently waiting to be seated, & I assume they were seated at our table before we reached the door to exit. In my opinion, It was a lot of shuffling, but I guess it turns more tables & makes the owner/manager group happy. As we finished with items it they were quickly removed from our table, which also expedites the clearing of tables & makes it quicker to seat new people, thus turning more money. I really liked the idea of your table is yours until you decide you don't want it anymore, everywhere else in Europe.

It's too much for one person while three other people- no uniformity, just walking around with credit card machine and not helpful. The cleanliness could be better. They need better management as the revenue can probably go up about 50% more. certainly under staffed, they could use two bartenders and two more bus boys and one more waiter. Vacant down stairs level is unused/ vacant. Waste of space when 20-30 more people could sit. The overworked waitress just left in the middle of a rush because she got yelled at by her boss to work harder and no one was helping her. Not coming back. And our 3 mojitos ...was basically lemonade w mint and ice, sour as sh*t w no alcohol. The manager was giving excuses of "shift change". (apparently reviews from a year ago also say their excuse was/is shift change) It's not the shift change problem, it's the management problem. What he really has is a lack of ability to run this restaurant smoothly. They need more staff, waiters, and bartenders. The only reason why they're staying alive is because they are on a busy street and unsuspecting tourists don't know better.

They offer outside seating which I always opt for if available. The interior is modern and cool (a bit small) The menu of the day is usually the reason for my visit to Cokuy. They seem to always have paella on their menu of the day, served in a personal sized pan with mussels, calamari, chicken and shrimp. The seafood isn't necessarily fresh but the paella is still tasty. Pictured below is the second course, chimichurri skirt steak with fries. The fries are the best I've had in Madrid. The skirt steak was so tough though that I could barely eat it apart from the edges. My friend had the roasted chicken which was delicious. My advice is just skip the skirt steak, everything else is tasty!

I am sorry to say that the hype connected to this restaurant is way over the top. My friend…read morebrought me here because he said he had an excellent visit last Friday. Well...I think that he was in the Twilight Zone because this meal was totally different. The wings were nothing to write home about. Small pieces and the BBQ sauce wasn't even tossed with the wings; they were more like drizzled on. The chicken tenders were probably the worst I have ever had...I don't see them selling a lot and they had a vinegary taste to them. After 1/2 bite, I had enough...And the oil they fried everything in was old and the food absorbed it. The burgers finally came and they looked like something we make at a home barbecue. Nothing special. The bun fell apart. The meat was practically raw, as you can see from the pictures. The bacon was fried to a crisp and was like eating a bacon potato chip. And the fries were good, salty, crispy and oil soaked...Complimented the sub-par hamburger. I guess quality and value isn't on the menu cause I didn't see it in our meal.
