I moved across the country and to save money I used U-box pods. I had 8 boxes packed full of "treasures" including some valuable antique furniture. When they arrived I needed some muscle to unload those pods and put things into whatever room.they were destined for. These guys did NOT disappoint! These guys are my heroes! Equal parts brawn, tactician and magician they are able to do what others cannot. The first time was a large Welsh dresser that I was told would not make the turn of my steps by the nationally recognized van lines company that moved me from Seattle to Traverse City. Foster Bros came in, did some quick measurements and calculations, cracked their knuckles and got it upstairs without a problem. Then they looked around and saw that I had two antique twin bed frames strewn in pieces and asked if I needed help with those. I was missing hardware, the wood was warped and yet they got them together in record time. I have no idea how they did it. So, when the "White Glove Delivery" of a custom made four poster bed went south last week I knew who just to call. Derek, the owner of Foster Bros, said he couldn't guarantee they could do it but he'd come out and take a look. The other delivery company had been out 5, count 'em 5, times and couldn't figure it out. I thought, at the very least, if Derek told me it wasn't going to go, I'd know it wasn't ever going to happen. He came out yesterday morning with Kirk and they immediately got down to business. Probably the best thing about Foster Bros is the feeling that you are in excellent hands from the get-go. They treat your possessions as if they are museum pieces. They take down your artwork and wrap any pieces of furniture that will come within 10 feet of what they are delivering. Together they break down step by step how they are going to get the piece to where it needs to go. They do a dry run of who will stand where, the angle of where the piece has to tilt and various hand-holds. What I'm trying to convey is that they are continually trouble-shooting. In this case they had to go over a pony wall and pivot - they probably had less than an inch for margin of error. But they wrestled that beast upstairs and put it together. During assembly it was discovered that needed bolts and other hardware were missing. They went to Home Depot and got the stuff. No dawdling either, they were back in a flash - did I mention they charge by the hour? They got the bed perfectly placed, rehung the artwork and moved back all the furniture. This was a super technical delivery and really required a ton of smarts and knowledge. They come prepared not only with a full toolbox but a can-do attitude - they are friendly and professional.
