I went to high school here. Class of 2007. While I assume a lot has changed since I went there and…read morethis review may not be 100% relevant to today, I do feel it set me up with a decently good education and I ended up with a great career so that probably says something. I was a 3.6 GPA student here that found some classes easy and some hard. The block schedule with long classes and A and B days did help set me up for college well. The religious aspect was a big part of school but also not overbearing in my opinion. As someone who is mildly religious, I feel I was well educated on religion without having it completely pushed down my throat. The religious retreats were enjoyable regardless of an individual's beliefs. The campus grounds are pretty, and have improved immensely since I went there. The new student center is beautiful and they no longer have the ugly portables I had to go to class in. I do feel they played favorites and I was not one of those favorites, and that determines a lot about kids futures and college applications. For example, the musical cast was ALWAYS the same people. Mr. Wilkinson (musical and play) was the biggest culprit of favoritism. I know I wasn't the best singer in the world but I also was decently good and he really killed my confidence in something I had been passionate about up until high school. He never even gave feedback to anyone to improve. He could have switched up the choruses in his musicals instead of THE SAME PEOPLE EVERY SEASON. The journalism staff was also predictable based on staff family members and their friends. From what I heard about the sports teams, it was usually the same. Basically any extracurricular was made by politics and not always by hard work or talent. Some staff that deserve shout outs: Mr. Ellis is a great coach, teacher, and positive ray of energy. Mr. Stokely is no longer there but always did a wonderful job of making every single student feel heard and included. I was terrible at math, but Mr. Stokely never made me feel bad about it. Ms. Hanigan was a wonderful, positive, and supportive teacher. And Father Jerry was a terrific counselor that always helped guide me in the right direction whether academic or personal. Also, the dress code here got a little insane when I went here so I hope they've relaxed and stopped policing women's bodies so much. (No one should be appalled by the clavicle and it's terrible to teach women that their body is inherently sexual). I'd probably send my kid here. I imagine some of my complaints here (politics) would be similar elsewhere and I do feel I got a good education. Hopefully things have changed on my concerns since I went there and if not hopefully this brings valuable feedback to light.

The Principal Mrs. Hofstrand allows it. My children had the worst experience here. They enjoyed the primarily and intermediate schools but completely lost interest in school when they came to the Junior High. My daughter quickly learned that thanks to Mrs. Zamira you can't sing happy birthday to your friends, you can't link elbows, and that they cannot recognize breast cancer awareness month because according to the Vice Principal, the kids are not mature enough.

Once I toured the school the property seems to be well maintained. This includes the classrooms. The staff was welcoming and friendly, which is important to me. The principal seems to be quite involved. I was honestly horrified by the low scores of the school however I have come to learn that parent involvement plays a large roll in the success of your children. My son has…read moreattended two of those-here are my reviews for each: Evergreen Elementary School on Fort Lewis- 1 star the teachers obviously did not want to be there-or should have been teaching different grades. the principal was more concerned with following steps then actual problem solving. I pulled my child out of this school because of these issues and moved him to a school that I had to drive 20 mins 2x a day for drop off/pick-up. Lakeview Hope Academy- 5 stars! Loved, loved this school. This is a truly wonderful elementary school. The teachers and staff are all very dedicated to each student and will go beyond what is expected. I transferred my child here in Kindergarten after the horrible experience at another school. His K and 1st grade teachers were very helpful with the transition, and everyone worked to get him the support he needed. Unfortunately, We had to move out of state after 1st grade. Starting 2nd grade in a new state was hard for my child-we contacted his 1st grade teacher for tips, and during her summer break she not only sent helpful emails to me and his new teacher but also followed up with phone calls. It was very obvious that she cared about my child and getting him off to a great start. The front desk staff were always friendly and very helpful. ESL staff is also wonderful. This school is in a poorer neighborhood and that is obvious during pick-up time. However, it also means that they have great state funding. To me, the teachers and staff obviously wanted to be there and wanted to make a difference. It was worth the 20 min drive 2x a day for me to know that my son was in a loving environment.

One of my kiddos was physically hurt by a teacher at school. The teacher slammed a door on his entire forearm and the school is lying saying that the door only bumped his elbow. MIND YOU THERE IS VIDEO FOOTAGE. I headed down to the school and confronted everyone. I told them I'd be taking it to the superintendent and if necessary the news station. I told them that someone needs to apologize to him for hurting him. That if the teacher (Mr. Gwenzy) doesn't apologize then the dean of students / principle (Mr. Fiteny ) should because THATS YOUR EMPLOYEE WHO FUCKED UP. You don't hurt children. You sure as hell don't act a whole ass because you don't want to apologize when you're in the wrong. That being said to this day no one has apologized. I went to the ER and they looked at his arm. They said his arm was swollen and they said he had a contusion and it will be sore for 2-3 weeks. I already made a request for the video footage. I made a police report as well and I plan on pressing charges. This all could have been avoided if Mr. Gwenzy or Mr. Fiteny apologized for the way they handled the situation. Regardless if now they're saying it was an accident, they should have done the adult thing and apologize. Completely disappointed in Clover Park High School.

We switched from public school to LCA and are grateful for the experience. Our children have…read morereceived a better education than they received at public school and in a much better environment - not only are other students respectful during class but teachers care about the well being of the students. Our kids are very athletic and we have one that is attending a D2 school on athletic scholarship and our other children are competing in sports and getting play time and those sports that LCA does not offer, like Lacrosse, they are able to play through our neighborhood high school. As a former "lifer" and one of the few student athletes to go on to play D1 sports, and someone who's family has been a large part of the church for 4 generations, I can speak with certainty the trauma this place causes. I've watched it decline more and more since I graduated. The grade level education does not meet the level of education at public schools and especially does not compete with other private schools. Many students who left Life Christian felt under prepared at other schools because of the gap in education. Math and science programs are purposely under funded. The nepotism, rampant misogyny and over sexualization of young women, and unhealthy power dynamics should send any parent running from this institution.
