Knowledgeable, helpful staff. Convenient online scheduling. Great place for a fitness journey.

I've been a member of Forward Fitness for 10 years now, and it still continues to be one of the best investments I've made. You don't just feel like another number there. The smaller class sizes class sizes allow you to still receive attention and training that you normally wouldn't get at a larger gym. The trainers are incredibly knowledgeable and make you feel like family. And a bonus that all the members are great too and make anyone who walks through the door a part of the family too. read more

I had never done weightlifting before joining, but the trainers made it so easy to learn safely with a strong focus on proper form. They're incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, and the whole vibe at the gym is so welcoming and friendly. I always feel encouraged and right at home here--such a great place to get stronger and more confident! read more

Forward Fitness has had a more profoundly positive impact on my life than any other investment I've made. Mike, Suzanne, Joe, and Cati are exceptional trainers who have cultivated an incredibly supportive community, providing everything you need to achieve your goals and embrace a healthier, happier lifestyle. Discovering this gym felt like a stroke of luck, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone - especially those who believe a gym isn't for them. You simply haven't found the right fit until now. read more

What a gem in any exercise program, the ownership and staff are the best I have ever experienced. I have been a member for only a year and 4 months, but my fitness level has greatly improved, in strength, balance and overall fitness. As a 'seasoned' citizen, it's imperative that we maintain a consistent fitness program with correct instruction to get the most out of the classes and the staff provides personal instruction and fitness classes that work out your complete body. I have definitely became 'younger' from last year, due to Forward Fitness. Outstanding!!!!!! read more

This place is amazing!! Before I joined Forward Fitness, I never worked out consistently at any other gym. But, I've been working out at FF regularly now for 2 1/2 years and don't plan on anywhere else! I love that it's a smaller gym...I feel like I'm part of a family and never feel judged! And, I love how people of all ages and abilities are in each class or training session, working at their own level, while experiencing encouragement from our caring staff and fellow Forward Fitness members! Finally, the coaches, who are very knowledgeable and experienced, go above and beyond by offering fun challenges to keep us motivated, periodic group hikes, helpful classes, etc. I can't say enough great things about this gym! I highly recommend it!! read more

This is absolutely a fantastic gym! From the moment I stepped in I knew I was in good hands. Before your first workout they do a complete evaluation of your ability to do certain things like a squat and your shoulder range of motion. This way they can completely customize your workout if you have any limitations. The modifications they gave we're great! The workout is literally for any person in any stage of fitness. Also, there are so many times I've gone to a gym that throws you into the workout without any warm up which can cause major injuries..... Not this place!!! They did a fantastic job doing a total body warm up which helped majorly with the workout. I also loved that the coach walked around the whole time to make sure that everyone had great form. I hadn't done kettle bell swings for quite a few years, and when I tried recently they hurt me so I was a little reluctant to do them but willing to try again. The coach helped me a lot with getting proper form and sat with me the whole time to walk me through the kettle bell swings! It was amazing personal attention that you don't see very often from other gyms. You can really tell they care about you and proper form. Very clean area and great up to date equipment. They kept the workout interesting so the 45 minutes FLEW by!!! I can't wait to go back again!!! read more

Joining the Forward Fitness community has been the best investment in my health I could ever imagine. Each of the knowledgeable, supportive, inspiring and encouraging trainers have helped me discover my strength, both physically and mentally. I've learned how to make better choices with my nutrition, in addition to consistently being more active. Fit Camps have become a part of my routine 4+ days/week for over five years now. I truly look forward to these quick, intense 45-minute sessions with fellow members that I consider friends and family. I've also participated in the Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) team training, where you prepare for 6-8 weeks ahead of a race. I can't believe how much joining this gym has impacted my life! Attended my first session this morning - it was amazing!! Suzanne was so nice and super helpful. The workout itself was great, it was fast and quick, but at the same time quite challenging. They provided different options for each exercise depending on your current fitness level. I loved it so much, I've already signed up to go again tomorrow!! If you are a beginner or expert, I encourage anyone to stop by, you won't be disappointed. You'll be in excellent hands. read more

I absolutely LOVE that I stumbled upon Forward Fitness!! In all the years that I have been at gyms or boot camps, I have never experienced anything like the guidance that I have received from here! My movement screening with Suzanne was awesome, made me feel like they really want to help you improve the areas that you struggle with. The Fit Camp instructor, Nick, I love his positive and motivating demeanor in the mornings, especially at the 5am class. 5am is a hard time to be up and moving but he sure makes it so much easier to be motivated. All of the members that I have met are kind and motivating and helpful as well. I am so glad that I tried this place and I am looking forward to the progress I'm making here! Thank you so much, FF! Y'all are amazing!! read more

I've been going to Forward Fitness to meet with the on staff dietician since they opened. I followed her from her previous location. Suzanne is dedicated and extremely knowledgable and helpful with nutrition and overall health matters. She has shed a lot of insight for me and motivated me to keep on keeping on! I joined the facility as a monthly member for Fitcamp and have been working out about twice a week there for a tad over a month. They are motivating and really assist me with correcting my form. Their workout programs are well planned to target different muscles and are challenging yet totally doable at any level. They make adjustments to any exercise specific to your individual health needs. It is a very friendly group that attend the classes and I really enjoy the workouts. Parking is never a problem and the location is very central and really close to downtown maplewood for any quick errands you may need to run after class. This place is too notch and great for beginners to athletes! read more

I joined Forward Fitness almost 4 months ago. I signed up to do the Fit Camp classes. I had previously done a lot of bootcamp classes outdoors and considered myself fairly hardcore, but my bootcamp ended and I needed to find someplace new. Here are some things that I love about Fit Camp classes: 1. They are in a safe environment - it's indoors (I'm fairly intolerant to heat and prone to almost passing out) & there's a rubber floor (SO much better for your feet and joints) 2. They have amazing playlists of music. It usually varies in style. 3. The teachers seriously watch out for your form. They TRULY want you to do things in a way that doesn't injure you. So many gyms say they care about your form but don't correct it when they see you doing it wrong. So expect to get some little tips in a totally friendly way. Also, if you have any injuries you can tell them. I sometimes have to ask for modifications because of a previous injury and it's not a big deal. 4. They have lots of class time options. And you can sign up online. Love. 5. The classes are 45 minutes. Heck, if I can break a good sweat - swell up some muscles, and be in a better mood (hello endorphins) in 45 minutes - I'll take it. It's smaller and more personal than the typical big meat market gym. And being "personal" doesn't mean that it's awkward either, because it's not. It's friendly :) If you like people knowing your name, people smiling at you, and people caring about your fitness journey - it's here. read more

I have been coming to Forward Fitness for over three years. The people here are a true community and everyone is supportive of each other no matter what level of fitness. I walked in after a 10 year hiatus and now I'm here 5 days a week. The workouts are challenging and change up regularly so I don't get bored. The trainers all bring something different to the table: kettlebells, weightlifting, sand bags, nutrition, personal training plans. This is a place where you will be welcomed, encouraged to do your best and FF will help you achieve your goals. read more

I worked with these 3 when they were with another gym, before they branched out to start their own shop. You won't meet a more dedicated group to your health. I worked mostly with Mike - he was helpful, dedicated, knowledgeable, and an overall great person to work with. Would highly recommend! read more

I started working out at Forward Fitness about three months ago, and I absolutely love it! It is by FAR the best gym of which I have ever been a member. All of the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. They are also extremely knowledgeable, not only on the exercises/lifts they are teaching but also in the way different parts of the body should move/function. This has been particularly helpful for me (and one of many reasons why I love this gym so much) because every now and then I have recurring injuries/muscle pain that come back from other sports I do, and all the trainers are helpful in being able to either modify parts of a workout for me or even giving me stretches or moves to do at the gym and at home to help relieve said pain. I love the FitCamp classes, and I appreciate that they have new and fun workouts to do for each day of the week. This really takes the pressure off me of having to come up with a new workout every time I go into the gym. I used to dread that! I also appreciate that FitCamps are capped off and kept small because this truly allows the trainers to be able to keep an eye on everyone for form and provide appropriate and timely feedback if I'm doing something incorrectly. I don't have to wait until I'm injured to realize I was doing it wrong; rather, they catch it early on. The small classes also make this gym more personable than any other gym I've attended. It really is a community of people looking out for one another, and the trainers definitely want what's best for all their members. I genuinely feel that they are helping me get stronger and accomplish my fitness goals. I always look forward to working out with them, and I highly recommend checking them out! read more

I love this gym! The staff is encouraging and wants the best for everyone. All the members are welcoming and friendly. I would recommend Forward Fitness to all! read more
