Call me Goldilocks for now as I'm on the look out for a comfortable bed (see Le Cornu story) so I decided to go back to the scene of the purchase. There are a few bedding shops at the Mile End Home Maker Centre but I only had time to visit one.
The sales lady approached me, asked if I needed help to which I responded a yes. I asked if they had Sleephaven and I'd been reading up on natural latex mattresses. She showed me the first and asked if I was a hot sleeper, I said yes and my partner was a furnace. She strongly recommended I don't get a latex in that case, as most people have issues with it retaining heat and get too hot, but there is another bed which was a Talalay latex. Hmmm, seeing as I had read up on this I knew it was not 100% natural latex and had other components, so I said no thanks it's not 100% latex.
Ok, next she showed me a bed called Tempur which Incorporated NASA technology, my mind immediately thought 'but astronauts in space don't need a bed, they float...don't they??). Anyway, I sat on the cheapest model first and it felt nice, then she suggested I try the next model up which was over $3500! I entertained it and thought the cheaper one was just as good. After doing more research at home on what the hell is a Tempur as the brochure didn't say, it's essentially memory foam but a highly sophisticated life form.
In the end she and I had a chat about anything but beds, it was nice but I don't think I'll be buying a bed from here. So my search continues...stay tuned!
