All of my drill Sergeants were amazing, especially SDS Feathers. He was an incredible leader. Whenever I feel like shit, I think about him reminding us not to be pathetic and weak. Hubby and I had a great visit at Fort Sill. Check-in was very easy. We found our way to the museum, which is fantastic. The museum is divided in three different sections showing the wars from the Revolutionary War to Desert Storm. There were so much information and artifacts. Well done! We then found our way to the Commissary and browsed around, but could not buy anything since we did not have a military ID. Lastly, we visited the cemetery where Quanah Parker, his mother Cynthia, and sister Prairie Flower are laid to rest. Enough for a full day of activities. Wonderful visit! read more

This is a very nice army base it's so big got lost looking for the commissary but found in one into the PX also very nice very nice but got some stuff at the commissary we went here for my nephews graduation. my nephew's boot camp graduation was was very cold I think it's 20 in the morning and 40 by afternoon oh chilly but that's for February We had a nice visit on base wish we would have gone to see the museum. museum I heard that's very cool. After graduation they had like food trucks so the soldiers could eat with their family and spend time with them before them going off to more training so it was very nice and it was a nice day to spend with my nephew who graduated. I bought a car at Milo Honda. Shopped at Winn Dixie. Got drunk with the guys at various stripclubs. Then someone invited me to join a prayer group on Post. I feel a bit odd writing a review for an Army installation, but I will embrace it and go right on ahead. I got to Ft. Sill a little over two years ago. In that short period of time, the installation and particularly the local community has undergone significant construction and commercial growth. Fort Sill has added an incredible amount of new family housing and finalized the Air Defense Artillery School's transition. There are a lot of the installation's services that I don't need nor use (Family related and Child Care). What I have utilized, I am content. Specifically, Goldner Gym completely renovated and is a nice facility for Soldiers and family members. It's not the best place I have been assigned, but certainly not the worst! read more

We came to Fort Sill for our son's BCT graduation. We loved visiting the base for four days driving around and checking out its many clean facilities. We were impressed how modern all the buildings are and the many recreation facilities provided to the soldiers. The museums were awesome. It has the only USO in Oklahoma that all of the soldiers and their families should take advantage. read more

Base is ok at best. Hospital is a nightmare at best. Has to go there once for a simple shot first had to get registered that took an hour still had me mislisted 3 years later. Then they closed shot clinic said it would be hour and a half wait for shot. Being wife is Air Force went to Tinker next day was in and out in 5 minutes. What a joke Army medicine. read more

This place was horrible. People screaming in your face, field artillery blowing up, 2-5 hours of sleep with some days no sleep at all, everyone has a terrible haircut, running to the point of physical exhaustion, constant drills with M16 semi-automatic rifles, being gassed in an unventilated concrete box, crawling through obstacle courses that leave grass in your sinuses, mental exhaustion to the point where someone's physical presence was enough to incite anger and no one was allowed an accurate watch so that the only concept of time was an arbitrary 24 hour cycle that didn't apply at all to the time in the real world. For basically being in the middle of no-where, it's an "ok" post, but not the best one I've been on. It does have some decent things to offer. The gym facilities, especially Goldner gym is great. The Commissary is one of the better ones I've been to compared to other posts; offering gourmet foods, organics, sushi, etc. I also like the access to multiple parks for the kids to play at. My husband may have a different opinion of Ft. Sill, since he's the one who works as a FA officer, but for me, it's been our temporary home for the past year, and glad this is a very temporary stay--A year here was enough. read more

I visited Fort Sill last April for my boyfriend's BCT graduation. I was so nervous about entering an army post alone for my first time because of the gates, security, etc., but it was a breeze at Fort Sill. The post is a good size, beautiful, and easy to navigate. There are a few museums, and souvenirs can be purchased at the PX. The people were so nice! I docked a star from my rating because the town it is in, Lawton, is not as enticing: there are lots of places to eat, but not much to do. After about three hours of running errands around town, I was able to navigate without my GPS--it's that small and easy to get around. I'll be going back in July, maybe a few things will have changed. read more

Couldn't believe how big this Fort is. Really liked my visit. Graduation was excellent. Lots to see and do.

Sill...where do I start. I was here for about 6 months for FA BOLC and then later for JFO school. It's hotter and drier than hell in the summer (yes I've been overseas and Sill is worse). The wind is freezing and never seems to stop in the winter. You roll out the post gates and think you're in the ghetto and Lawton will get nicer. Negative, it just gets more ghetto. There's nothing to do in Lawton and its a nasty crime ridden town. Everyone on post seems irritated and preoccupied. The post police write you tickets that don't cost any money or put you in court but they go to the first 1 star in your COC (like an O-7 really gives a crap about you, so surely he's not going to deal with you over a traffic ticket). The only thing redeeming here is the lakes and wind farms North of post. It's an ugly, boring post in an ugly, boring town. The only worse posts are Polk and Irwin. If you get stationed here, I hope you make some good, close friends because you'll be embracing the suck like its going out of style. read more
