A lovely site with a small museum with some interesting exhibits about the war. The museum itself is free but accept donations. Nice staff. There are a few souvenirs for purchase. The site has its own parking lot but can also be accessed from Bear Mountain via a hiking path. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and saw some men there with a few older tools and items used during the war time. They were explaining how the items worked. A nice visit while in the area or while at the Bear Mountain Park. Some interesting things to learn there.

Amazing place. 1) The museum itself is small. 2) The location is great. 3) It is free. 4) They have clean restrooms and ample space for parking. 5) You can park here, and take the trail to hike Popolopen Torne, Anthony's Neck, etc. 6) If you do not want to hike, then Bear Mountain Bridge and Trailside Museums and Zoo at Bear Mountain State Park are walking distance. Come, visit, and enjoy the rest of the area.

Stunning views of the Hudson and the bear mountain bridge. A well signed and obvious path leads from station to station where plaques describe the various uses of the fort, the battles that occurred and the history of its creation. A park station has restrooms and vending machines and is conveniently located adjacent to the parking area. Hiking down the slope towards the river is possible but unmarked and at your own risk.

Historical Park - how can't I give this a great review! Very nice view of the Hudson Valley. Very knowledgeable - the office was closed so couldn't go inside to see the history of it. Worth checking out if in the area

Very important strategic control of the Hudson River during the revolutionary War. Occasional demonstrations are fun and informative.

Since then, it has played a vital role in every major conflict to modern-day operations worldwide. To commemorate this historic milestone, my partner and I decided on a bus tour to the US Military Academy at West Point, which is the oldest war fort and military base in the US, sitting on the west bank of the Hudson River, 40 miles north of NYC. Reservations as well as security clearance were easily made via the website on the same day, with the extended tour lasting 2 hours to include the cemetery and chapel. West Point Tours provides a great experience to see and understand the US Military Academy's place in history and the future. Although established in 1802, the Academy was vital in the American Revolutionary War. Washington considered the location critical and had additional fortifications designed. Everywhere the bus traveled, we saw signs that read "Beat Navy!" This, of course, refers to the great rivalry the two military academies have enjoyed for decades. By far, the most magnificent and historic building is Cadet Chapel, which has dominated the landscape for more than 100 years. Reflecting the Gothic architecture of the late 14th century in England, it is constructed from granite quarried at West Point. Our tour guide, Chandrinka, was highly knowledgeable and took the time to really bring the history with her 17 years of experience. For visitors like us seeking a blend of scenic beauty, historical significance, and cultural enrichment, we can highly recommend as it was a truly educational and enlightening experience.
