If your enrolling be careful. They are currently accepting more student than they have capacity for, leaving students stranded and asking for housing outside of the school. I knew people staying in dingy hotel rooms offered by the college. If you do happen to get housing on campus it will be far from consistent. I've had to move 3 times around campus even though I've applied early for the next term for the same hall. I've vocalized this concern to be left with a "well that's just not how it works" Also strange penalties on your student account will cause extra payments. I've always been on time with payments and paid a lot of weird late fees anyway. read more

We took our 16 year old on a tour of the campus that my wife went to and we were wowed by it. The staff welcomed us, informed us, and our tour guide really connected us to the campus. They finished the tour with lunch in their "cafeteria" which was excellent. The views from anywhere on the campus are breathtaking. Any outdoor enthusiast who is looking for a small college with no student teachers and a classroom size of less than 20 students would LOVE this place. Now, if you are allergic to Liberals or Hippies, think twice. read more

A pretty cute campus. My dad and I would bike ride around Fort Lewis a lot when I was younger. Their concert hall is really nice and a lot of dance studios in Durango used to have their productions here. They also have a nice football field and the soccer fields have consistently been in good condition, so it's a nice place to come hang out and kick the ball around with your friends. The Reed Library (reed not read lol) is a great resource, but it can get a little loud in there so if you are trying to get some hard core studying done I wouldn't recommend heading over there. Beautiful campus in the sky! Great liberal arts college in which offers students have the opportunity to explore other fields. Campus has gone through major renovations and boasts many new buildings. Durango is a destination spot for tourists but also is a college town that takes pride i the campus on the hill. read more

The absolute worst fucking school in America. I urge you to go to a different school. Everything about this school is horrible. Last year I was set to graduate, was approved and told my my shitty adviser that I was good to go. I graduated and then never received my diploma. One year later I finally find out that they neglected to tell me I had one unfulfilled class. They mad me reapply to get back in to take a class that has nothing to do with my major. Had to pay another fee to apply for graduation and was told I'd have a notice within 5 weeks. Over 7 weeks later and I still have not heard back while I continue to pay out of state tuition for this one fucking class. I've been going to this shit hole for near 7 years and every year it gets worse and worse. This is hands down the worst school you could choose for ease of mind and quality administration. Fuck you flc I hate you so much. And the president can go fuck himself, he does absolutely nothing for his students. read more

We just did a visit and we are very disappointed! Our daughter would have been a transfer student and she spent a lot of time & energy reaching out to Fort Lewis and talking with them. She was accepted & she has phenomenal grades! When we got there & she met Kayla, Kayla didn't even remember her. The tour was very informal, with a huge group (we had toured many colleges), they showed us their worst dorms, they took us in 1 classroom, and mostly ran us through the tour. They didn't even offer lunch (which is very important). My daughter had put down that she wanted to meet with some professors and financial aid and at the end of the tour Kayla just told everyone, "Okay, thank you for coming"! Our daughter told her she had meetings with financial aid & to meet with some professors... Kayla & Shelby had no idea what she was talking about! Shelby gave her the name, number & an email of a professor instead of having that professor reach out to our daughter. Obviously they aren't in need of students! They just pushed their beautiful campus & all of the outdoor activities they offer, instead of their academics! So if all you want is a school with a lot of fun things to do & in a tourist town this is for you! read more

As a four-year veteran of this beautiful campus, I have to say the education is great, the diverse culture is awesome, and the location of the campus itself is one of a kind. It is a smaller college, but each (mostly) professor loves to teach. They have chosen this college/town because they like the ideals that Durango and FLC provide. Saying that, this is not a "research" university so professors have plenty of time to provide and teach high quality material. If you like the outdoors then this is your future alma mater. The only thing I would say that the college can fix/update/add is updating REED Library, Noble Hall, and maybe adding a new structure dedicated to environmental studies/science. There is a new Geo-Physics-Engineering building to suit all of the prospective STEM majors. Enjoy! read more
