So, it's a great rest stop! It seems like the buildings are something you can rent out? They're all numbered... and it's like a picnic/gathering area. But, I'm still confused on these "dunes" and what there really was to offer at this stop, aside from the fortress type area & very convenient bathrooms. Parking is plentiful. There are signs that ask no pets- seems no one obliges because several had their dogs out walking them/letting them crap. Watch where you step! You can walk up to the platform area and down the steps to the back of it. Supposedly that is where the "dunes" are? You can't see anything over the hill. And, it's fenced off. All you really get here is the wooden structure, a nice restroom facility (quite clean & also a handicap accessible facility), and the plaque/signs. Otherwise- I don't see the appeal or point of stopping. I did notice there is the same exit/facility on the opposite side of the freeway... maybe the actual "dunes" are over there? Not sure I'd suggest this as a "must stop and see", but it's also about 45 minutes outside the city, so if you are passing through, I guess it's kind of cool to check out.

YOU DO NOT HEAR YOUR NEIGHBOR! When traveling to T or C, I will not stay anywhere else!! This made our Covid vaca to the Butte AMAZING! Thank you so much!!!!!! MUST READ‼‼ I came to this place after 0130 in morning after…read moredriving 11 hours. I was exhausted and just wanted to shower and sleep. I get there and ring the doorbell. Out comes a old lady in a robe. Very strange lady at that. She checks me into the room and I pay my 58 bucks. I walk in and I immediately feel dirty, but it wasn't horrible when not looking close up. I get all of my belongings and food from my truck and take a shower. Huge pubic hair on wall. Gross but whatever. They had an outlet in bathroom that they tried to cover with what looked like putty so people wouldn't use it. Huge safety hazard. Whatever..... I'm tired. Shower was not too bad minus the gross hair. As I pull the blankets down I see several small roaches scatter. I couldn't believe it. This was only pulling comforter down. The sheets were still pulled up. I had to do it people, I pulled the sheets down and boom! I took pictures as you will see. I called the office. Old lady comes in and demands I show her where the roaches are. Of course they ran away, but I had the pictures! I show her and she says that that is not the hotels comforter!!!! Really? It matches my picture wth?!?! So then I show her the blood spots and dead bugs smashed in the sheets. She had nothing to say so she just walks out of the room and went back into the office. By now it is after 0230 in morning. As she walked out of the room she stated exactly this " You did what you wanted here and now you want to leave because you just wanted to shower." I'm left there standing like what do I do now? I pack my stuff up and load my truck. I go to office and ring bell..... then I ring bell again..... really? Oh wait, here she comes and she has her old man with her!!!! She opens the door and the husband lays into me. He yells " I don't know what kind of games your playing little girl but you need to leave now" he then states I planted the roaches in the bed all for a free shower at 0130 in the morning! I'm traveling from Colorado to Mississippi as travel nurse. I tell this to these two crazy people. They called me mean, they told me get out, I'm a liar, blah blah. Needless to say, I finally got my refund when they knew they weren't going to push me around. It was horrible. I ended up sleeping in my car at a rest stop. Put myself in danger. What a joke. Please stay away, especially those with kids. It's disgusting. I'll post if I don't end up with my refund.

The staff was kind, the lobby was clean. The room was pretty clean except that the shower in the bathroom smelled like mildew. I think they need to replace the shower curtain. The breakfast buffet was adequate. They had all the common breakfast buffet goods including a pancake robot machine. Parking was safe and plentiful.

I stopped by here to see what they offered, which was one of very few businesses in the area. I found a very nice trail mix, which included espresso beans, dried fruit, and chocolate. It basically had everything I needed to sustain me for my 1.5-hour drive to El Paso. I also made a quick pit stop, and I found the convenience store to be clean throughout. Most other patrons were either truckers on a rest stop, or other commuters travelling between cities. The cashier was friendly, and gave me some good local tips. After resting a bit, I moved on toward El Paso. This was a convenient stop, I'd recommend it if you find yourself in the area.

I have been to Riverbend Hot Springs 3 times, each time was belter than the last…read more This past December we were in the area so we made the journey to TorC for the Hot Springs. I had made the reservations about 3 weeks before. As with the last time I booked, I was very surprised that it wastn closer to sold out already. We have been to a few different hot springs some have been pretty cool, literally. The last one was outside Fairbanks Alaska in the winter. But one thing that is common at these spots is that they are communal pools. There tends to be a creeper now and then. But Riverbend has private pools, facing the Rio Grande. So this time I made note of the temps of each individual pool on the website, and got us the hottest one. It was perfect. It really does have pools that drop off right into the Rio. It was close to dusk and the river was flowing past the long shadows in front of us. The hour of relaxation flew by. It is the best we have been to. I am sorta happy that they arent so known as to be overbooked. Because we will be back again next time we are in the area.

The staff are all friendly and accommodating…read more It's conveniently located from the interstate and major highways and close to the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center it's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious. They had a continental breakfast in the morning. It has the usual good stuff where you make your own waffles and have sausage, scrambled egg and fruit. They also suggested a couple of nearby restaurants for both breakfast and supper. I have to say I was very pleased that the attention the staff made to making sure breakfast food was hot, plentiful and available.I always tip the breakfast person and housekeeping, It's an old school way of thinking and I hope you as travelers will consider adopting it. The room had all the space I needed and in a Mini refrigerator microwave and coffee maker. Everything was working just fine and very clean as I said, I was impressed with the staff and their willingness to try to help me in any way that they could. The hotel was great and made for relaxing two night stay. They also have laundry machines on every floor.

The staff is always friendly and building is well kept. It's near almost all of the restaurants and they are within walking distance. So is Walmart if you need some supplies. Breakfast starts at 6am through the week and 7am on the weekends. Be advised it can be hard to get rooms if you are staying for extended stays. Try to book way in advance.
