Fort Caspar Campground for me was a pleasant stay. It's pretty much a giant RV Park with tons and tons of trailers. I had read that this place is full of a lot of locals living here on a part time/full time basis. That seemed to bother people according to other reviews...like...that it makes Fort Caspar a shady/trashy spot to stay at. But I would generally disagree with all those opinions. I was simply looking for a reasonable/affordable campground to pitch my tent and sleep for the evening. And I found this Fort Caspar to be just fine. I had no problems and the "locals" never once confronted me or gave me a hard time about anything. Once I arrived here I set up camp in a quiet section of the park for primitive campsites and was set to go for the rest of my time. Fort Caspar is located just outside Casper, Wyoming. So while I spent the day in the heart of Casper getting my car inspected and refilling groceries and supplies for my cross country road trip, Fort Caspar was a worthwhile campsite for me to choose to end my day and "recharge my battery" for continuing on my journey. I discovered Fort Caspar through the camping app on my phone called Campendium. Although they didn't feature an option for booking a campsite online, all I had to do was make a phone call to them to reserve my site. Traveling spontaneously...I called Fort Casper at the last minute of the day and they mentioned they'd leave me a packet and guide for my stay on the grounds. The hosts were leaving around 5pm and they simply mentioned to pay for my site in an envelope and deposit it off in the front box near the Main Office. For my primitive campsite it was $25. I paid cash though I can't specifically remember if they accepted checks or credit cards. Upon arriving here, I'd basically describe Fort Caspar as your good old fashioned Trailer/RV and Campground Park. I drove in on a dirt road, stopped at the main office and leisurely went straight to my campsite to set up my tent. What I always appreciate about RV/Trailer Parks is they usually offer restrooms and showers for guests. Well...no different here. I found them to be clean, well maintained and efficient. For late afternoon, no one was using them so I mostly had privacy while washing up. I'd say the showers and bathrooms were about a 5 minute walk from the campsites. Also, they even offered a pretty clean little mobile bathroom much closer to the campsites....this way you sort of don't have to walk back and forth every time you need to use the toilet. At my campsite it had a barbecue pit for grilling, though I had already eaten dinner prior to coming here. But...you could grill on the grounds using charcoal. The sites also had a very quiet element to them. There were 10 campsites on the grounds and I felt like they were all situated far away from each other. I had a good night's rest and the following morning I felt refreshed. Just some other notes and points of interest according to Fort Caspar's website... - 86 RV sites including 14 pull through up to 44 feet. - 30 and 50 amp services. - 2 private fishing ponds. - Playground. - 24 hour laundry mat. - 3 grassy areas for picnics. - Walking trails, wildlife and a store for any little extras you may need at the last moment. Overall, I was happily satisfied with my stay at Fort Caspar Campground. I mean...for $25...I got a quiet campground with showers and restrooms to clean myself up. And although according to other folks they were disturbed by suspicious activity going on from the locals...I found none of this to be true. If I ever return to the area...I'd gladly come back to Fort Caspar and recommend it to those adventurers/tourists who may be traveling on a whim and looking for an affordable campground/trailer park located just outside downtown Casper, Wyoming. read more

Nope this place is basically a trailer park. Gross..went to play at the playground and ant hills everywhere..same by the pond..dogs everywhere all breeds, cops, the bathrooms have shower curtains as doors. Just not for me. read more

After reading some reviews I was concerned that I'd scheduled this park. After arriving I found it to be a good location to stay for a few nights while passing through. When checking in I found the woman at the counter to be friendly, she placed us in a pull through because of the size of our rig with FHU 50 amp. Yes many of the sites are in full sun but they have made up for it by provide pleasant grassy areas with picnic tables within the park. Yes there are people living in the park, those I spoke to in the laundry seemed very friendly. There were a few old trailers but at no point did we feel unsafe or uncomfortable here. Also the park was very quiet at night. Seemed like they had staff working on the upkeep of grounds throughout the day. I did not check out the shower or bathrooms so can not give opinion on them. The laundry was clean and equipment worked fine. They handed out a set of rules at checkin that I appreciate that include pets and speed limits. There were two dog parks at different locations with ample supply of bags. The Fort Casper Museum is right next to it and has a beautiful green belt around it with easy access to paved trails to walk or ride your bike. Within the park is a river walk trail where you can view the Platte River, close by is a place to launch your kayaks or rafts. Is it a not a resort, however it fulfilled our needs for our brief stay, in fact I wish we had stayed longer to take full advantage to the trails close by. read more

Thankfully, we're only staying here for one night, passing through to someplace better. When we arrived the woman who checked us in was very nice. From there it all went downhill. We were assigned a back-in site that is too short to leave our tow vehicle hooked up and so narrow that when we parked next to our trailer there wasn't enough room to extend our shade canopy. And there is absolutely no shade in the RV camping stalls. They are just gravel slots with no privacy separation, no picnic tables, fire rings or concrete pads. As soon as we got parked and unhooked, we were swarmed by several dozen yellow jackets. We wanted to find something good about the place so we decided to take a walk along what they call the River Walk Trail. It turned out to be an old, un-cared for dirt access road to access what appeared to be pump houses along the river. And we only found a very small section of the "walk" from which you can actually see the river. It's almost all so overgrown that you can't see the river at all. It's like camping on a gravel lot at some fairground somewhere, only you get full hookups and lots of people living in their RVs. The only fairly nice campsites are the tent sites. They have grass and shade and are close to the river (although you can't see the river from there either). If you must stay somewhere in Casper, and no place is available, this place does seem to be safe and quiet. Otherwise, no. read more

I definitely don't recommend this spot. The woman was friendly but the site was completely unimpressive. Trash all over the tent site, just dusty ground, no cleared space for a tent, the campfire ring hadn't been cleaned out and had trash in it. Loud, freeway noise all night. We drove through the RV side on the way out and it was not any better. RVs parked right next to each in a gravel lot, no trees, no separation, nothing picturesque or any redeeming details. Sorry to be so harsh. Oh, I will say that the restrooms on the tent side were clean enough and had flush toilets that didn't smell. So that was positive. read more

It's basically a place to park your RV plug into electric and leave the next day. Appear to be many full timers. Bathrooms have not seen an update in a minimum of 20 years. Shower curtains on the toilet stalls. Like the reviewer from six years ago Wi-Fi doesn't work. Very nice girl at the front desk but I should not have expected much from this RV park since the office area was pretty messy and not clean. Basically you get what you pay for. read more

What a horrible mistake we made booking this place. It was closest to my best friend who is getting married. We booked a pull through spot and were told "we don't have any pull through spots". We drove to the spot we were given and we were between two full timers and honestly did not feel safe. We looked around and there was MANY open pull throughs so went back to the office and got one. We got there, unloaded and looked around. You are on a gravel lot with nothing else. We were told "NO DOGS ON ANY OF THE GRASS AREAS ANYWHERE". The dog park is a fenced in dirt square and we were also let know "we are out of dog bags". We made the call to another rv park(Rivers Edge) and they gladly accommodated us. We have a grass square, a picnic table, lots of real grass areas for the dogs to run and play by the Platte River. If you stay here, Keep your exceptions LOW, I mean REAL LOW!!! Oh, and they would not refund any of our money for 5 nights. Believe it or not it was worth letting the $210 go to get the heck out of that place. read more

Open year round. All gravel, mostly full time residents (many looked like tenements). No cable. All sites are full service. Laundry room and bathrooms/showers are okay but severely outdated. WiFi is at best VERY poor/spotty (so bad in fact it is an embarassement to even admit that they have wifi). Seldom could get more than 1 bar of signal. Internet would drop constantly. Was there working the wildfire season with the Bureau of Land Management. Stayed 2 years ago for the entire wildfire season with no problem. This year they threw me out after 10 days. I was a very quiet tenant and only was there to sleep. The only thing that made the Wifi tolerable was to install a special WiFi antenna which boosted the strength. Would not recommend staying there more than a couple of days. Better accomodations in Glenrock, Douglas and Bar Nunn. read more

All I can say is unimpressed... we called before because we were rolling in late and they were nice enough to provide envelopes with info for check in after hours. Clear instructions that we could leave payment in box as well if we left out early. Spots are full gravel and most have no benches or fire pits. Seems like one of those places in town where some people live. All good, no big deal, we are leaving first thing in the morning. Just passing through. We leave payment as instructed and are greeted at 11 the next day with a snotty call from the SAME woman from the day before saying we forgot to pay... Uhh, did you check the drop box you told us to put it in? No big deal but seriously, why speak to anyone like that? And to top it off YOU were being a dumb @$$ in the first place Definitely a last resort stop... in fact, Walmart parking lot might have been more welcoming. Food for thought. Now just hoping we didn't get sick from the kids that were coughing all over the playground . read more

This is both long term and short term RVers. It had full hookups, level sites and sites are long enough for big rigs. There is no shade at sites for the most part and only a few sites have picnic tables. The sites are plenty long and pull through, but very very close to each other. I was unable to get wifi to work most of the time. There is a playground, but it seems that since there are a lot of long term RVers there, not much of a chance for kids to meet other kids on vacation and play. Bathrooms and laundry facilities were relatively clean overall. This park is fine as an overnight but I would not plan a vacation around the park. If you are looking for long term place this may be the place for you if they are able to get wifi fixed. read more

We were greeted by a very sweet, friendly lady who checked us in and made sure we had everything we needed. The campsite was clean, and the facilities were too. I really appreciated how their showers and laundry were 24 hr! Small-ish/close tent sites, but they're separated so you still get your own space, and were definitely shadier & grassier than the RV area. If I come through Casper again I'd definitely stay here! read more

We arrived at 8PM (still daylight) with our 15 year old autistic son and 11 year old daughter. As I was hooking up the RV my wife went walking through the playground to the bathhouse with the kids. The man with the hat who was trimming a tree in the playground immediately started yelling at my son for walking through the playground saying "don't you see the cone?" Apparently one orange cone near the playground entrance meant "don't walk to the playground or you will be yelled at." He screamed at my son, ignored my wife, and after my son said "I'm sorry, I just didn't know" he just kept yelling at my son and never even acknowledged the presence of my wife. There were many other staff working in the area, and no one said anything to the person who yelled at my son. Apparently that is just the way things are here. What a bad way to be greeted when arriving at an RV park. Also, upon arrival there were FOUR police cars handling a situation with some residents. Avoid this place. Avoid it like the plague. Better to boondock in a Walmart parking lot than be treated like this. read more

Called this park this morning, to make reservations, the lady that answered the phone was very rude after asking what type of camper and how big our camper was and she very rudely said she had nothing. I have to say, being a passport america card holder,this is the first time one of your campgrounds treated me so rudely. Just want to let you know that they represent your company. Not for families or tourists!! There is no way the 4 and 5 star reviews are from travelers who stay in RV parks. This is mainly a full time residents park of local workers and it is full of really dilapidated trailers. We were so uncomfortable with some of the people we saw that we pulled out 10 minutes after pulling in and didn't care to get a refund of our $39.70. The website is not an accurate description of what it is actually like. The surrounding town was our first hint that this was not going to be a safe place for us for the night. Sorry for the bad review but I don't want anyone else to make the same mistake. After already driving 6 hours, we had to go 2 more hours down the road to find what we were looking for. Total disappointment and waste of money. read more

Wonderful place.. Very nice, new setup, easy access, great for big rvs... Super nice and helpful staff... Close to restaurants, Walmart, etc... Located in the back of the park, behind the museum, walking distance to the river. I highly recommend it. read more

We have stayed here on three trips. Twice our Garmin GPS sent us the wrong way. It is west of the fair grounds. Look it up ahead of time and save some headache. Now, the park. We drove in with a 40 foot motor home with dinghy and had no problem driving right into our spot. Watch the speed bumps! The roads and spaces are clean gravel with good water run off. There are three dog runs. WIFI is tolerable, TV is analog. We used a hotspot from our cellphone for internet and our TV antenna to get the local digital channels. They could use a pool. read more

The lady up front was the best part of the stay...if you like rules, lots of rules, rules that don't need to be stated, rules that are offensive, rude and more than likely for the 'resident' population...then this is your place. All gravel, no grass and for sure don't do 6mph or you will be yelled at by 'the local dude'. Honestly for $40ish per night...has to be something better! In fact drive up the mountain and stay in nature for $7 per night...if anyone in Casper is looking for a business opportunity, open a nice RV park...it should do well! read more

The campground is basic dirt and stones with a nice river walk behind the park very low water pressure and no cable. Ok for a overnight stay
