The only reason this place potentially deserves one star is for the bridge view. I had never been down there before but anticipated walking around with my dog. Upon exiting our vehicle, we snapped this photo and then left. The park is a complete dump. Broken glass EVERYWHERE. Meaning you probably can't even take one step without stepping on some. I was not risking my dog's paws to stay more than the moment we did. And the activities going on around there (drugs and prostitution) were definitely not something any law abiding citizen wished to be around. I knew this park was in Baltimore City so why I expected anything more...I'm still kicking myself for even giving them the chance. read more

Beautiful peninsula w views of Baltimore's Key Bridge and the mouth of the Patapsco River

Fort Armistead Park is actually one of the most beautiful waterscape parks in Baltimore and unfortunately one of the most unmanaged and uncared for. Trash is everywhere, potholes abound. It is reprehensible to me to have such a historical place to be so unkempt. Baltimore City should be ashamed. There are several trails but caution should be taken if you want to explore. As this used to be a military base, there are various interesting structures. Despite the lack of care, if you want fantastic photos along the Patapsco River especially of the I-695 Bridge or looking for a grafitti based backdrop for a video or photoshoot, I would recommend you take a look. Note: despite its lack of maintenance, I find it to be an excellent place along the Patapsco River for sunrise, sunset, and fog pictures. read more

Years before the pandemic and bridge collapse, I launched a kayak from this park to paddle across the shipping channel to Sparrow and back (watch out for cargo ships' wake!), checking out Fort Carroll's bird village midway. I guess I caught a curse from the haunted island because my phone slipped into the water, losing photos of the bridge and more (pre-cloud). Having a public landing there is a great idea. Fort Armistead Park seemed tame to me, especially for Balto. Either it's changed in recent years, or the people complaining here on Yelp hide in suburban bubbles too much. Get out and experience America, its history, its reality, and its variety. If you just want an Instagram photo perch, go to the 'observation deck' at Inner Harbor. If you want a Disney life, go to the mall. read more

Fort Armistead Park is on the water with an old U.S. Army fort on the property. The fort itself defended Baltimore until 1920 and then was used to store ammunition during World War II. Now it's abandoned. It's not blocked off so adventurers can explore the old fort going through graffiti-covered tunnels. read more

Foul and disgusting. I don't know how anyone could rate this place more than one star. it's so sad how bad it got. Trash everywhere including needles and condoms. sketchy people hanging around in their cars . the roads are chewed up. Attempted to explore the tunnels which looked really cool but it was so sketchy and nasty I aborted the plan. it's a disgrace Maryland would let this place go downhill like this. read more

Today was my first experience at Ft Armistead using the boat ramp with friends and family as an emergency. My advice STAY AWAY. This is not a place for small children or women. There was trash everywhere and many creepy older males backed in to parking spots and walking around obviously looking for sexual encounters. I did not feel safe and was unfortunately stranded there for some time due to our boats fuel system failing. This place was so trashed, I honestly do not know why the city hasn't stepped up to clean it up. Sad. read more

I would say that unless you're a local going to fish, have a campout, or get your dee s'ed by some dude, or lady, there is little to no reason to go here. It is dirty and disgusting, you can see the key bridge, but who cares when the guy in the car next to you is gettin a beej? I can see the key bridge from lots of places. The fort itself is covered in condoms and graffiti, so at least they are practicing safe sex. While every review seems to state that there is a lot of dude on dude dudeing, I only saw chick on dude action, and what looked like a largeish woman coming in and out of a van. Maybe she was getting bait for fishing, maybe she was s'in dees, who knows. Don't go here, its pointless. Great place to launch a kayak or a canoe, though. read more

Fort Armistead is a total dump and is slightly creepy but I am glad I checked it out once. It's not much of a park and don't expect to do any real hiking but it does have a cool location right under the Key Bridge. The fort (or what's left of it) receives zero maintenance or care but that's to be expected. It has no historical significance since it was built in the late 19th century and abandoned during the 1920s. At this point it's nothing but graffiti covered concrete. Exploring the inside of it might be interesting if you have a flashlight and solid shoes (god only knows what's on the floor.) Before I visited Fort Armistead I'd heard stories about how it was also a popular gay men's hookup spot. I assumed this was a joke but while exploring the fort I noticed a lots of middle aged guys just sort of hanging around & looking weird. They seemed harmless enough but it definitely added to the bizarre & creepy vibe that this place has. There's also a feral cat colony, so expect to see lots of stray cats running around. read more

Nice view of the water but not much else. A dead spot. Need to clean it up. Lots of grafitti on the ruins just makes the appeal less of an attraction and more of a trash dump. If u like seedy places this place goes above and beyond. read more

I was totally appalled at the site at this Park, I do photography an this park is awesome for these reason with the Key Bridge, I have been there twice last Wednesday really broke my heart that people are given a place for family day picnic, fishing just fun an family time which they totally abused.... come on who cleans parks an why has this one been so neglected? I thought Baltimore was proud of it's history...I guess I was totally wrong on that aspect... The catacombs are horrible, graffiti , there is history there being destroyed an nobody cares..A disgrace to our Soldiers who found for your freedom so you could what destroy their remembrance... really maybe we should start charging for that park too ...... No more freebie's. You had FREE an you abused it.... now pay.... so sad even the docks are filled with trash left behind.... so saddened by these results..... read more

Hey all ~ my plan is this spring is to try to change the park and turn it around.... I will be picking up the trash every weekend, planting flowers, bushes, etc.... and I would like to place good quality steel picnic tables around - how about instead of bashing the park WE ALL change it to make it a better place. IF it is so about the misconduct taking place there - more people visiting to change for the better will keep the WRONG people out. NOT A FAMILY PARK! What can I add that hasn't already been said by the other reviews. New to the area I thought I'd check the park out. There were about 7 cars there when I arrived and clearly they were there for the reasons already stated in the other reviews. It's either a spot to score illegal drugs or all the middle aged men were there for homosexual activity. The fishing pier was decent. The boat ramp is free. And it has a great view of the Key bridge which was what I was hoping for on my photo mission of that park. It was completely creepy to drive into and I didn't stay for more than 5 minutes because I didn't want to get robbed. Once I got my photos of the bridge I left. I didn't even bother to go to what's left of the "fort", although it can be seen slightly from the road. Didn't see the stray cats everyone was talking about but I did see a number of stray dogs. Should have a minus star option for places like this. Great view of the bay though. Highly disappointed that Baltimore or Glen Burnie; whichever municipality isn't keeping this place safe, clean, and family friendly. read more
