In a way, it's misleading to make this a review of Foro Tours. I've only gone with them once, so my review is really about our tour guide, Arturo Marquez. We took the Xochicalco/Taxco day-long tour on Christmas Day. The ruins and the town are, of course, wonderful even without a guide, but Arturo made them mean so much more. He's familiar with the area and has a good sense of travel times when we had a lot of miles to cover in a day. His English is excellent and his accent understandable, and I found him funny and pleasant and, above all, knowledgeable. Some in our group thought his tour of the (impressive) museum at Xochicalco was a little long, but I think we all agreed that he told us a lot of interesting stuff we didn't know about pre-Columbian culture. And then there are the amazing ruins themselves.
In Taxco he led us on foot through the close winding cobbled streets up to the cathedral, pointing out various details along the way about the layout and development of the town. The walk through the hillside town was fairly strenuous. All in all it was a very good day.
Our Foro transportation was a Japanese 10-passenger van. It was well used but comfortable. I would guess it's standard for the company. read more
