Not sure if this is the standard for Czech gyms or just Fitness Kotva, but you have to have an extra pair of clean shoes just for the gym. You cant work out in the shoes you walked in with. A bit weird for me, but I complied. You must also have a towel with you and can rent one for 45-50 crowns if you don't have one. There is a 100 crown cash only deposit for a key to a locker and the day pass fee was 180 crowns (about $9.00 USD) which is pretty cheap. This gym is located on the fourth floor of the Kotva department store. Walk into the store and take the elevator up and the entrance will be on your left when you exit. If you're working out outside of store hours, there is a side door that will connect you directly to the elevator.

First off if this is your first European gym session make sure to wear in your street clothes and pack a back pack of "gym shoes" and gym clothes. They do not let you wear street shoes into the gym. They consider this un-hygienic. This particular gym you enter then you have to take your shoes off immediately after the reception area. Next you walk barefoot or in socks to the locker room where you have another locker that you put your clothes into. Now your finally ready to work out! The gym equipment is fairly older and not a huge variety but enough to get the job done.

All the gym equipment isn't state-of-the-art and they don't have every possible machine under the sun or every kind of class available at all hours of the day, but otherwise I don't have any complaints.other than that my impression has been very positive. It is inexpensive to swim here too, if you just want to come for an hour. I got here in the late afternoon about an hour before closing and had the entire lane to myself, although I was told it gets crowded in the mornings. The pool is 25 M as opposed to 25 yards, as you see in the US, so you get a longer swim overall. I highly recommend!
