Unbelievable. I contacted baymeadows animal hospital in hopes of finding a good vet with a groomer inside. It just makes things easier when you have 3 animals going to the groomer/vet at the same time. I started with the groomer. I called to make the appointment and the girl I spoke to was extremely pleasant. I told her I had to cats and 1 dog to bring in. She said she had 3 openings 2 days later. Perfect I thought. She asked me all the pertinent info on the animals and then asked me what I would like done to all 3. I explained I get the cats bathed and shaved 4 times a year so that's what I needed for them. I told her for my dog, which is a havanese, I shave her body, leave tail and ears with length and give her a teddy bear face. For those who don't know the breed this is a typical cut for a Maltese a highly groomed dog. So the appointment was made. I came in 2 days later for the staff to tell me they only groom 1 cat per day and there was a scheduling error. She proceeded to ask me again what I wanted done, after I spent 30mins on the phone telling someone else. I thought no biggie, small peanuts, right? She took both of mu cats which were in the same carrier together to the back along with my dog. She came back and told me my cat hissed at her through the box, so they would probably have to sedate her. I told her that wouldn't be necessary, they are as sweet as can be, we do this twice a year with a full groom and 4 times a year they get a bath. Never have I ever in 10 years has anyone told me they had to sedate my cat. So she told me when the groomer got there she would call me. The groomer called me to ask me how I wanted them cut, again? I told her the same thing, again. Cats shaved and dog, body shaved, ears and tail with length and teddy bear face. I explained to the groomer that the cat that hissed just doesn't like being contained in a little box and is very vocal, but super super sweet, which she is. Later the office called me, told me that the groomer doesn't feel comfortable giving her a bath without sedation. Oh, did I mention the cats have no claws whatsoever. I told them do not sedate a perfectly sweet lap cat because she meows loud. NEVER, in 10 years of grooming and bathing this cat 4 times a year has anyone had a problem with my sweet babies. So I go to get the animals, and they wouldn't even get my one cat out of the kennel because she was meowing so loud, she's just frightened, not a rabid attack cat. I simply opened the gate picked her up and looked at the groomer and asked, did you even try to pick her up. She said no. WOW, she's in the wrong business. Then they bring my dog to me, she shaved her ENTIRE FACE AND HEAD. WHAT?!?!?! what part of teddy bear face sounds like shave my pure breed dogs face. Too bad for the vet there for not even getting a chance. I will never step foot back in there again. read more
