Mindy provided a very personable, warm and extremely responsive service, made every effort to respond to my inquiry on Adopt-A-Pet and approving my application as well as just answering my questions and chatting with me about my potential cat baby's personality traits and his background story. She responded to emails as late as 11PM on a weekend and her demeanor was always welcoming and reassuring, like an old, caring friend. Mindy's words and actions convey that she truly truly love all of her rescued cat babies and she only wants what's best for them and she works extremely hard to find them good homes. I was very sad that neither cat babies from her rescue matched the particular personality I was looking for (I was trying to fill this big hole in my heart with the tragic loss of a stray cat named Cookie I cared for) and I really wished that given all the hard work she and her daughter put into, I'd adopt either Teddy or Khabib. Despite these big, affectionate sweet boys were not the best match I was searching for, I don't think any less of them, I sincerely hope they will find their forever home they deserve and I cannot be more grateful for Mindy's time, patience and understanding she's extended me and my family. If I had more capacity for an additional cat baby in the future after finding THE ONE, Mindy and her rescue is the first place I'd check out. If you are also searching for your feline soulmate, please look no further!!

I went to Petsmart to adopt a kitten names Cookies. I filled out the application, and was told by Petsmart to call them and see if I could get an immediate answer. I called them 17 times, no answer.....I was livid... I was even more upset when I get the notification via text message, that they would not allow me to adopt Cookies because I said we would "Declaw" if he started scratching or getting aggressive....I didn't even know what that meant...Again, I was pissed... We were messaging back and forth for well over 30 minutes and they explained to me what declawing was, and why it was bad for cats. Thank you, I was given useful information of something I knew nothing about. Granted, Cookies, was going to live his best life with us, but it wasn't meant to be. On to the next.

I have spent time reading through the reviews for Girls of Dog Rescue, and I am honestly…read moredisappointed by the one-star reviews left by people who were denied adoption due to the rescue's clearly stated rules. Shame on anyone who tries to damage a rescue organization simply because they couldn't accept that they didn't meet the adoption requirements. These rules are in place for one reason: the safety and lifelong well-being of the dogs. Girls of Dog Rescue is strict because they care. They limit adoptions by location so they can conduct proper home visits and ensure each dog is placed in a safe, stable environment. That level of responsibility should be applauded, not criticized. People also forget that rescues are not free to operate. Vet bills, spay/neuter surgeries, medications, vaccinations, food, and rehabilitation for neglected dogs all cost money. Expecting a rescued dog to be "free" ignores the reality of what these organizations take on to save lives. I also appreciate that this rescue requires their dogs to be seen by their designated veterinarian until the dogs reach a certain age. This ensures the dogs receive proper medical care and are spayed or neutered, rather than relying on promises that may never be kept. To those leaving one-star reviews because you were denied: this isn't personal -- it's responsible rescue work. To Girls of Dog Rescue: thank you for putting the dogs first, even when it's unpopular. The glowing, five-star reviews from successful adopters clearly speak louder than the complaints from those who didn't qualify.

After recently losing my beloved Yorkie of 9 years, my husband and I decided to honor her memory by…read morerescuing rather than purchasing from a breeder. We came across an adorable Shih Tzu pair (a brother and sister) and submitted an application expressing interest in one of them. Within seconds of submitting, I received a call. The representative hadn't read my application at all. When she asked if I currently had a dog and I explained mine had just passed, there was zero acknowledgment; no condolences, nothing. She then informed me it was "unethical" to adopt just one puppy and that I'd need to take both. When I agreed to take both, she reversed course, saying the siblings would "fight" and I couldn't take them together. When I offered to adopt two unrelated dogs instead, the story changed again; apparently a doctor had just been approved for the dog I applied for, mid-conversation, and I was redirected to a one-year-old Yorkie before being abruptly dismissed. The inconsistencies were glaring, the policies shifted in real time, and the entire interaction was handled without a shred of compassion. I am a registered nurse and my husband works in the entertainment industry; we are experienced, attentive pet owners who gave our Yorkie an exceptional life. None of that was considered because my application was never actually reviewed. This experience is precisely why so many people turn to breeders and pet stores instead of rescues. When grieving applicants are met with dismissiveness, fabricated barriers, and contradictory excuses, it doesn't serve the animals; it leaves them in shelters longer. I hope the organization takes a hard look at how their team communicates with prospective adopters.

I still suffer a tiny bit with asthma . I adopted Kk and Bo when they were almost 8 in 2018. It is now 2025, so they are 15, almost 16 . I still follow BROC along with Bichon rescues. If you know anything about bonded sibling dogs, they do not go anywhere without each other. It is the cutest thing. BROC told me about this, and I didn't believe them but BO follows his sister around like he is his daughter, protecting her and watching over her all the time. She's actually the larger of the two and Bo lets her eat his food and his treats. I have kept in touch with BROC over the years. Now, I have to make a difficult decision. BROC is by my side, helping me make a decision. Should I get a new dog before one of them pass so the other one has a distraction or wait? Right now I am currently looking at Rockwell. He is a male bichon eight years old,15 pounds. Clearly, Rockwell is not eating steak for dinner....YET! My bichons are 22 And 24 lbs! BROC has made one human and two doggies almost 3 doggies. Very happy!
