When we called Rose Mortuaries we initially spoke with Connie who was patient, empathetic, and did not overwhelm us at all. When we attended our first appointment we worked with Alex who saw us all the way through the entire process. We knew our father wished to be cremated, and Alex helped fill in all the gaps for our family. She was attentive and provided us space at the same time. She didn't push anything on us and clearly explained the essentials, dates, and was extremely flexible on accommodations that were in between some of the options offered. We had an intimidate memorial / viewing for our father at the Rancho Mirage location for immediate family. The location was private, quiet, and well presented. Our father was well presented and looked handsome and at rest. In the days after the viewing, my father was cremated, and Rose Mortuaries accommodated our family's needs to have the ashes divided amongst my brothers and me. We each had a say in the process and were able to honor our father in our own unique way. All paperwork and certification were presented in clearly marked envelopes and folders. While I understand that funeral homes may not feel direct responsibility for arrangements not purchased through their services, the handling of these items significantly impacts the overall experience of the grieving family and loved ones. As an individual with six years of experience in the floral and service industry, I found the delivery process to be unacceptable. Concerns Regarding Transportation and Handling * Improper Transport: During the transportation from the church/viewing location to the cemetery, arrangements were visibly stacked on top of one another. This practice is disastrous for delicate floral structures and results in damage to costly tributes. * On-Site Damage: Upon arrival at the cemetery, one arrangement was visibly dropped by staff, resulting in immediate damage to several flowers. This occurrence was witnessed by numerous family members, causing considerable distress, especially given that the family planned to take all floral tributes home. * Destruction of a Key Arrangement: I had to intervene directly when an arrangement (specifically, the "wings") was being broken by a worker. I observed the worker ripping out flowers (gladiolus) and disposing of them carelessly into a bush adjacent to the casket. This specific arrangement was subsequently too damaged for the family to take home. * Missing Banners: I also had to personally ensure the retrieval of accompanying banners, which had been stuffed back into the damaged "wings" arrangement. I spoke with Mark and Danny at the time regarding the issue of the banners. Issues Regarding Floral Materials * Aisle Stands/Easels: It was observed that the metal aisle stands or easels, which were provided free of charge by the florists for the display of sprays and wreaths, were retained by the funeral home staff. These stands are typically provided for the family's use to display the tributes and do not belong to the funeral home. The family should have been allowed to keep or manage the return of these items. Recommended Action and Transparency Floral tributes are not inexpensive and represent profound expressions of love and respect. The lack of care shown for these items was extremely disheartening. I urge the funeral home to implement the following changes immediately: 1. Mandatory Transparency: If proper, temperature-controlled transportation and adequate spatial accommodation are not available in your vehicles for large or multiple floral arrangements, this information must be communicated to the families and loved ones prior to the service. 2. Staff Training: Implement mandatory training for all personnel involved in the handling and transport of floral tributes, emphasizing the need for respectful and careful handling of all arrangements, regardless of their origin. 3. Policy Review: Review current policies regarding the disposition of floral accessories (such as easels and banners) to ensure they are returned to the family or florist as appropriate. We are incredibly disappointed that a day intended for respectful remembrance was overshadowed by the observable mishandling of these final tributes. They are located about a block west of Jefferson. You have to turn north onto Enterprise Circle from Winchester to get to the parking lot. Here's what was said: Good morning Casillas Family, It has been a few days since my mother's service (11/28/2022) and we are still discussing the bad service we were offered. My sister and I were the ones that took care of the funeral arrangements and are very disappointed. About 5 years ago we also used your services to bury my grandmother which went great. We want to express the issues we had with Casillas Family Funeral Home. My sister was told she could be there earlier so they could get things ready. She was there at 6:30 along with other family members and it was locked so she called the office because no one opened at the office. Someone told her that they would be opening the doors in a few minutes. They all waited patiently, which took longer than it should and the only way they realized the door was now open was because a guest arrived and opened the door to go in. At that point they realized someone had opened it, but they were never informed that it was, nor did they see anyone open in. The flower delivery company was there to drop off the arrangements but because the door was closed, they left them outside. There was half a coffee pot there that was cold and probably there from the last service held and coffee was not ready. No one was there to assist/customer service so we could ask if we needed anything, explain how everything works and etc. We had a power point, and it took 30 min to figure it out and get it working which tells me it was not setup. We felt rushed out with no warnings of how this works. The sink was very dirty and disgusting use. By far it was a bad experience in addition to our grief and we are very disappointed. This shows us that customers are not important to the Casillas family and that everything was so unorganized. I realize I never posted a review so I'm doing this now.

The Casillas' are the definition of "family business". They care, communicate well and will try their best to make your family's service sincerely unique and meaningful. I used to fear death and mourned for a very long time. This family taught me to respect the death process and to treat a persons soul as if it's present even though their earthly body had expired.... If you've seen the movie My Girl... this funeral home is kinda like that. It's NOT a giant corporation with a script of greed. They treat each case uniquely as the individual. That's rare these days! This is the one business of its type that I know that bothers to learn the first names of the decedents relatives. If you're an emotional person or accepting a death is difficult for you, I recommend this funeral home.
