The sweetest security guard was working back in October. We had come from a presidential rally and had to walk a good amount to reach an area to meet up with our other group. We first contacted Forest Lawn on February 1st after the loss of our beloved family member. From our initial conversation with Counselor, Jessica Olivares, she was very attentive to our needs and took the time to answer every question from start to finish. If I sent a follow-up email, I could always count on a fast reply, at any time of the day from Jessica. When it came time for the date of the services, we went past the allotted time to pay our final respects to our loved one, but we're treated with the utmost respect from their staff. Planning a funeral for my family member was one of hardest things I've had to do. I'm so thankful I had Marlene and Dolores to help me plan my beloved family members funeral. These woman were truly heaven sent. They were patient, kind, informative, and so helpful every step of the way during the process. Read this review BEFORE DECIDING TO USE THIS MORTUARY!! Today my family was celebrating our loved one's life and decided to use this mortuary for his services. To start, the personnel working here were very unprofessional and clearly have no experience in customer service or how to exercise tact and courtesy especially when the place of business is a mortuary. A specific person staffing this mortuary that I had a negative encounter along with a few family members of mine is named, "B. Espinazo." This Sir was very rude and lacked interpersonal skills. He displayed ZERO sympathy and was not sensitive to the fact that our loved one had just passed away. Throughout the prayer services, he would prance around the building "policing" so no one would sit on their "fancy seating area," guess those chairs were meant to be display only and if he saw you grab snacks or drinks from the snack room he would be so close to you, you could feel his breathe on you just to ensure you were eating your snacks/drinks outside of the building or in the stuffy room. I had got a coffee and snack and was walking down the hall way towards the exit when a close family member of mine stopped me to ask how I was doing when "Sir Espinazo" then abruptly shouted in a condescending manner, "YOU NEED TO GO OUTSIDE TO EAT OR DRINK OR GO BACK IN THE ROOM!" I immediately responded, "I am going outside." Please note I was TALKING to a family member and at no point in time drank or ate anything while I was deep in conversation. Throughout the evening, I again noticed he continued to "police" others in this rude and unnecessary manner! I hope the owners of this mortuary enforces rules employees need to follow or sets some training or disciplinary actions to address this unprofessional behavior. Until then, I will personally tell family and friends to steer clear of this mortuary. read more

Through this difficult time we had the pleasure of having Lionel for both the viewing and burial of our loved one. He was very helpful and patient throughout the process. He assured our loved one was taken care of and that we as a family were satisfied with the outcome. We sincerely appreciated his thoughtfulness and professionalism. No stars if I could. First off, Ignascia was so rude with my family when we were making arrangements. As if losing a loved one isn't hard enough she showed no compassion. Later my family complained about how extremely rude she was and they offered to upgrade the memorial tablet. Okay great I see them making an effort. Then, I reached out to one of the coordinators, Marlene, because I had some concerns and frustrations with the escorts whose services were purchased. They only escorted 5-7 cars of out caravan which was well over 30 cars. I was the first car behind my Mom's casket. By the time I parked my car, all 4 motorcycle escorts and suv escort were parked at the church themselves. We had to wait for the rest of the caravan to get to church, so that the rest of the pallbearers could help carry the casket due to the lack of escort service. After the church, we went to the cemetery where once again only 5-7 cars were escorted. We had to delay the service with the priest because the rest of the caravan was left behind by the escorts. When I parked my car at the cemetery I received a call from one of my aunts asking me to wait for them to start the service because they were stuck at a red light along with other cars and immediate family members on Cesar Chavez Ave waiting to turn on to Ave 52. As they were now part of regular traffic. Now for the second time, as I parked my car at the cemetery, I got off the car and looked towards the road and seen that all escorts had already left...ending their shift as I still have family waiting to turn onto Ave 52. I was initially hesitant in needing the escort services in its entirety. After speaking with several of my moms sisters/brothers, they pressed the need for the escorts due to the large caravan that would be attending, considering that immediate family alone was going to be at least 15 cars not including family friends and extended relatives from out of town and out of the country coming to pay their respects. We ended up being a caravan of a minimum of 30 vehicles. Having to put a loved one to rest is difficult in itself yet alone having to worry about the lack of paid services that should have made the itinerary hassle free for the family and all In attendance. Forest Lawn responded that they could take off $200 of the $700 for the escorts or the previous offer of the upgraded tablet. One or the other but not both. For two DIFFERENT mishaps! Well I'm sure if you all were in my position you wouldn't pay even $500 for the service. Now making me choose on two different mishaps is a bit ridiculous and offensive. Like I indicated before, they "escorted" 5-7 cars total. That being said, that would be paying $72-$100 per car. We would have not included it in the package if that were the case and neither would you. DO NOT ORDER ESCORTS! AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRENDOUS! read more
