I did a search and found this store while I was briefly in Waterloo. There is a lot of construction around this store. I entered on Weber. The parking lot is great and stress-free. I parked right in front of the store and walked in. A huge tub of Vaseline is on sale for $3.99 this week. The much smaller size is the same price. So, I went with the large size. You ick your own cheese and meat and have it served on a bunch with margarine and/or mayonnaise and/or mustard - for $3.50. They serve them on really nice buns (which by the way they don't sell, at least not more than a couple at a time - these come from Buns Master). I am a mustard-hating woman, so I always get mine without. The one time they misheard me, I came back later to explain that I am allergic to mustard (as I might as well be, it makes me feel sick to my stomach) and I was unable to eat it. They replaced it for me at no cost. This morning I didn't have time to make breakfast, so I quickly popped in during one of my work errands to grab a sandwich. Behind the counter were two women, one of which I knew by sight and the other who I believed is either new, or doesn't work there full time. The one whom I knew was helping an elderly woman, so I got in line behind a man who was being helped by the other - or so I thought. They were actually just having a friendly chat, which appeared to have no end in sight. I sighed inwardly, attempted to shake off my frustration, and pulled out my phone to send a text message to a friend confirming plans for this weekend. What felt like years later, the man had been served and proceeded to the checkout, and I placed my order for a turkey and gouda. "Mustard and mayonnaise?" "No. MARGARINE and mayonnaise please. No mustard." The woman begins to make my sandwich, all the while maintaining a conversation with the fellow who had been ahead of me in line. I finally got to the front, paid for my sandwich, and legged it back to the office. After getting situated at my desk, I pull out my sandwich and take a huge bite. ...and was met by the bitter taste of mustard. ALL over my sandwich. Needless to say, I am more than a little unimpressed. I don my jacket and say "I'll be back in a minute", and quickly head back to the deli. The woman who had served me was now serving two others, and the one that I knew looked up and asked "Can I help you?" "Well, my sandwich is covered in mustard.. I can't eat it because I'm allergic," I explain. "Oh yes, well we know that, but she probably doesn't. Here, I'll make you a new one", she replies, taking the mustard-soaked one from my hands. "I realize that, but I specifically asked for no mustard." We had caught the attention of my sandwich maker at this point, who I am already feeling wary towards considering she not only wasted my time chatting while she had customers in line, and then proceeded to give me the ONE THING I asked her to remove. "I'm not sure that you said that. You WERE on your phone at the time, so..." is what she comes out with. Let me get this straight. You ignore the customer standing in line behind your friend, continue to chat before even serving him, then proceed to keep talking WHILE making my food? And you think that because I sent some texts DURING your talk-a-thon (essentially because I knew it would be a while before I got served), you can use it to somehow blame me for your ineptitude? I wouldn't have cared about the sandwich, people make mistakes all the time, myself included. What I do care about is your customer negligence, your unprofessional attitude, and your complete lack of customer service skills. I request NO MUSTARD every single time I buy a sandwich. Today I even underlined my request in the air with my hand (I have no idea why) as if to illustrate how important this specific statement was. This has nothing to do with my damn cell phone.

I found this Zehrs in Kitchener, which was on my way home and decided to drop by. I didn't realize that it was at Stanley Park Mall. I love how I just blindly go somewhere and figure things out. I parked close to the mall entrance. There was plenty of parking available. I walked in. There were a ton of shopping carts by the grocery store's main entrance. I grabbed one and headed into the store. I saw an escalator that looked like it went downstairs to parking. I had no idea that there was an underground parking lot! I have been to Zehrs twice in my life, including this visit. I dig it. It's under the Loblaw umbrella, but staff are so friendly and there's a small town feel to it. This store is huge! I came to get produce and was pleased at how fresh everything was. I got mushrooms and they were so fresh when I used them today. The celery was in pristine condition. I liked the bananas. I saw a man break off a banana here and another one there. It was odd. He did it four times while I stood there. During a pandemic, I just buy a hand of bananas and break them off myself at home, without fussing over an imperfect banana. I enjoyed browsing in the drinks aisle. I got two bottles of Roar drinks, which are lower in sugar and claim to have electrolytes. The strawberry coconut one was my favourite. The Joe Fresh section is massive. I managed to get a couple of sleepwear t-shirts that had cute sayings related to sleep. I got them for $5 each. Such a great price! There's also a Starbucks cafe. It looked nice. I had already visited two cafes by the time I got here. I didn't need a third visit! I loved the hot food and to-go areas. The sushi bar looked incredible. I wasn't hungry. If I were, I know where to go. I had to use the washroom. There are two and are unisex. The one that I used was clean. It has hand sanitizer, too. I lined up at the cashout area. There was a nice woman letting us know which cash place to go to. I went to 2 and had another nice woman cash me out. I couldn't find my PC Optimum card at that point (I eventually did), so I whipped out my phone app and had it scanned. I then paid with my credit card. Done! We both wished each other a great day. We also said to stay safe to each other. I happily left rolling my groceries out to my car. Another woman was bringing back all carts. Staff sanitize them, which was nice to see. The aisles are wide and there are arrows on the floor to indicate in which direction you should walk. I only found one woman not get it. I am used to everyone ignoring the arrows when I'm in a store, so it was refreshing that folks were following them for a change! I enjoyed my shopping experience here.
