After visiting a few other shops and breaking for lunch, I returned to John at State and Liberty and ended up purchasing THREE (3) shirts. I tried on a number of pants and shirts and we dialed in a couple lines that were very good fits. Before I knew it, I was leaving with three pairs of pants , 3 shirts and a light jacket. He even cleaned up and steamed the blazer, I brought in to match. Absolutely no pressure, just a willingness to help! They had some really nice products, and it's nice to be able to go into a store and buy stuff off the rack. Over the last few years, i've been having custom shirts and slacks made because i'm got an athletic body from being a pro athlete. By the way, the price was twenty percent less than I would pay for my custom clothes and I get to wear them today versus having to wait for them.

They did a great job on work that some other tailors won't touch - reduced the shoulder pads and legs. And there is no drama - Bill tells you what he can and can't do (mostly can), marks up the clothing and discusses with the tailor. I ended up at Homer Reed where instead of turning me away as an impossible request, Bill went through the entire store with me and found a suit that fit pretty close. He then made a special request to their Tailor to put me at the front of the line so that my suit was ready to go Monday morning for the wake Monday night. Store manager, Rudee fixed an error made during an in-store purchase…read more Long story short, the sales associate made an error during initial purchase. He may just have been having an off day, but still I wasn't happy with the mistake. I called in to discuss the error and the associate who answered the phone tried to make the error right, but didn't have the authority. She was super polite and it was clear she wasn't going to let the error go until it was made right by me. She offered to escalate to her manager. Less than 5 minutes after that call I get a call from Rudi who went above and beyond to make things right. The clothes are fine, but it's getting the type of exceptional care that Rudi and her associate provided which make for repeat business. Definitely be shopping with Peter Millar again. People like this need to be in leadership roles.
