I recently visited this office for the first time for a routine checkup. The front desk surprised me when they asked me to site my phone number, which is personally identifiable information, out loud in the waiting room. They probably need to confirm some personal information with me, but I've had other practices do that by asking me to verify that last digits of my phone number or similar information. I find that doctor's offices are very sensitive to keeping private information private, but that didn't seem to be the case here. I waited for the doctor - not a terribly long time but definitely longer than I usually wait these days - I spent about 25 minutes sitting in the waiting room. The doctor's checkup seemed competent, though brusque. She suggested a variety of solutions to problems I'm having as well as the upsides and downsides of the treatments. We are lucky to have a lot of choices for medical providers in this area. When I find a provider that is warm, that makes me feel comfortable, and that seems to genuinely care about my health, I tend to go back to them year after year. This practice isn't that. Everyone there, from the receptionist, to the nurse, to the doctor, was cold and seemed sort of annoyed that I was there. Due to their cold demeanor, and the high prices cited in other reviews, I'll look elsewhere for my dermatology care. read more

I have skin cancer and have to get a checkup 2x a year.....THought I had found a new great dermatologist in Dr. Soderberg....I really enjoyed him and his experience...but WOW! after my first visit and a couple of questionable biopsies...and the final tally of $2200.00 ! with my responsibility of $600.00.Im in the market again...These fees are obscene..I was in DC for 30 years and NEVER received a charge like this...he should be ashamed....now i know this is a franchise. he would be better off going out on his own....REALLY DISAPPOINTED ! Terrible management of the office! I found out I owed them $150 from being put on a collection agency. I never knew I owed them anything. I didn't get any letters, ZERO phone calls. I was at the office recently and they did not mention that I owned them $150. If they would let me know I have a bill I would have paid immediately, like I just did. When I called to speak with someone at their office Heather could not have treated more casually the fact that I was in collection and my CREDIT HISTORY GOT AFFECTED. Seems like Heather could not have cared less. I paid my balance to the collection agency immediately. But, this affected my CREDIT HISTORY. I never received one PHONE CALL. Not one. I was there in person recently, and no one said anything about a balance being owed. And, when I called Heather seemed bothered that I was having this conversation. If this is how they manage their office, does Dr. Soderberg treat his patients with the same casual attitude? I've been a patient for about a year, I AM NEVER GOING BACK. read more

Dr. Soderberg is a great dermatologist. He is the first dermatologist I've seen who has ever recommended Accutane/isotretinoin, the only treatment that had a definitively life-changing impact on my lifelong acne. For that reason, he is the best dermatologist I have ever seen in two decades of acne treatment. -2 stars for his assistant, Jasmine. I strongly dislike talking to her as ~3 out of 5 interactions are usually quite unpleasant. She is oftentimes rude, audibly sighs with great volume, openly expresses her boredom, is unjustifiably condescending and overall not a great communicator. Without her, this place would be among the best. Unfortunately, she is the gatekeeper to this practice as the office number is answered by her at least some of the time (on Mondays, when the office is closed), and there is no way to directly reach Dr. Soderberg. Additionally, this practice doesn't utilize email...or at least, Jasmine refused to communicate with me over email claiming "HIPAA" disallows communication of medical records... I was skeptical and in disbelief, as I have both sent and received my medical records from multiple doctors (GPs, dermatologists, dentists, etc.) across a couple decades. When questioned, she stated, "this is just our policy." This is probably a lie. A clarifying response from Forefront would be appreciated. This is one of the most ridiculously overpriced practices there is. Just a basic check up that I do every 6 months and they charged me $600+. In all my years of doing these check ups this place is the worst for overcharging. They did not even do a thorough look over. I will not recommend nor ever return. read more

I had issues with a prescription being refilled and left multiple messages on the nurse line. I went into the office and fixed the issue and the request was sent over to the pharmacy. Jasmine then called me, and she told me that my voicemail was not set up and that the prescription had been sent over this am. I confirmed with pharmacy that request was received this afternoon. I'm doing this post to share my experience at Forefront Dermatology in Carpenter Fire station. Dr Soderberg practice is ridiculously over price with or without insurance... I took my daughter to his office to check on allergies and acne and paid $178 as down payment and yesterday I received a second bill for $113 that I have to pay for a 1st time visit. During consultation He didn't do anything special to her.. he didn't even touch her skin and the treatment that he prescribed didn't work. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT GO TO THAT PLACE... is terrible and this Dr. Soderberg does not worth the money that you have to pay after all.. read more

Worst place ever do not go to this place ,over charged & bad accounting department the ladies in from deck has the worst Memory .We pay everything in full of the day of service & then they send us bill that we already payed it was my wife second liquid nitrogen to removed wart from finger and it still there!! read more

I am very pleased with the treatment received by Dr. Soderberg. I went in to have a spot checked that I've had for some time. He was very gentle in getting a biopsy because of its location under my eye. I had a diagnosis within two weeks which unfortunately turned out to be melanoma. He was very caring with delivering the news and recommended me to Dr. Cook at Duke. read more

Dr. Soderberg is an incredible dermatologist. I followed him from his old practice to Forefront. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend his practice anymore due to the fact that their Pathologist charges an INSANE amount of money. I went in for a yearly skin check and Dr. Soderberg ended up doing a very small, non-invasive biopsy (basically just scraping the top layer of the skin). Several weeks later, I received a bill for $916.12. This was the amount owed AFTER insurance due to their Pathologist, Douglas Hansen MD charging $734.12. I did make the front desk staff aware that I have a high deductible health insurance plan, but they refused to work with me at all. Extremely disappointed and obviously will not return. read more

Services are way overpriced with no result. Terrible extraction experience with the aesthetician. Would not recommend at all.

I have a suspicious spot and scheduled an appointment in late July for today. That was the soonest they could get me in despite the fact that my mother has had melanoma multiple times and I have a spot. I gave my insurance information to the representative that scheduled my appointment And I asked specifically if this doctors office takes my insurance. I told the lady that I did not wanna wait two months for an appointment with this history that did not accept my insurance. She assured me my insurance was in net work. I got to my appointment and gave my insurance card and my ID to the front desk person and she asked me was it explain to you that we are not in network with this insurance I went over the above with her and she just kept reiterating that I'm sorry we're not in net work never once offered to help me. I turned around as I was walking out and asked if somebody was going to be held accountable for this and she said she'd send a note. Unbelievable that somebody can make such a huge error, especially with somebody that has a history of melanoma. I tried to call to speak to the office manager, and the whole time was just under 21 minutes. I don't typically do reviews but I did not wanna sit on hold for 20 minutes and I think people should be put on notice to check with your insurance company because the people that schedule appointments at this office do not do their job. read more

Dr. Soderberg is incredibly knowledgeable and I appreciate his commitment to evidence-based practice.
