If you've seen my reviews on Yelp, you may be surprised that I am not writing about a restaurant…read moresomewhere in Colorado or Hawaii. I am writing about Greg Garrett Realty because they reached out to me, a fellow Realtor miles away from Newport News, VA where we lived more than thirty years ago. They reached out with a personal cal and followed up with an email message. That is service, They were seeking my contact information for a possible referral for a client moving to Colorado. That impressed me. They're going the extra mile for their clients, knowing that I will give them my best every time. My business is referral based and my referrals usually come from my former clients and their friends or family members. With another professional putting their name on the line for me, it adds to my credibility and when their name on the line is as strong as Greg Garrett Realty it is even stronger for me.I have referred business to Greg as well and I know that he will follow through each time that I do. I trust them and I think you should too. Sincerely, Perry Coons PCRE Denver, CO

I would give negative stars if I could. Never in my life have I experienced this level of…read moreincompetence, lack of professionalism, communication or performance. This firm represented the buyers when I sold my home recently and their agent basically did nothing, didn't send addendums in a timely fashion, didn't send needed information to their lender in a timely fashion and really just didn't do her job which resulted in closing delays and so many headaches. I would never suggest using this agency or accepting an offer represented by them. And this isn't the first time I've been burned by one of their agents but it will absolutely be the last.

Bobby "hung in there" with me through a very tough selling time. He was always upbeat, encouraging, positive thinking and positive acting. I found him to be very professional, friendly and honest. I felt like I had made a friend with Bobby, and would use him again if a real estate opportunity presented itself.

He lives there with his wife and children, so he can provide a multitude of information - anything you require. His knowledge on different neighborhoods was invaluable to us. John worked tirelessly for us to find us a piece of property. We are from out of state, so it was no easy feat. He did drive-bys, took photos, returned our numerous phone calls and emails, and helped us sort out what we wanted. He showed us alternatives, and kept us apprised of what the market was doing, provided historical data, and a sense of what the market might look like going forward. My husband and I love John's personality. Knowledgeable, low-key, no pressure. We always felt John was on our side, and never felt that he was put out at all by what we asked of him - which was alot. He's a genuinely nice guy who does a great job for his clients. We finally found the perfect piece of property - just what we wanted - thanks to John. It took a long time, but John was extremely patient with us. You won't find a better realtor. We've bought many homes through the years, and John's the best we've ever worked with. We recommend him highly to anyone who is looking in the Williamsburg area.

AMW Real Estate - Unprofessional and Negligent Property Management…read more Our experience with AMW Real Estate was nothing short of a nightmare. They rented us a property that had severe safety hazards, showing a complete disregard for tenant well-being. One of the most alarming issues was the pergola, which had plastic panels dangerously held down by bricks. Eventually, these panels came loose due to high winds, nearly hitting our dog. This was just one example of the unsafe living conditions we endured. The deck was completely falling apart and hazardous. When our daughter started walking, she tripped and fell numerous times due to its poor condition. Knowing we couldn't rely on AMW for anything, we took matters into our own hands and spent over $100 of our own money to fix it--just to ensure our own safety. A landlord should be responsible for maintaining a safe living environment, but with AMW, that was never the case. Getting maintenance requests addressed was nearly impossible. Anytime we needed a repair--even for urgent safety concerns--it took forever to get a response. When we finally did, the fixes were either delayed or completely ignored. It became abundantly clear that the owner had no interest in investing even a dime into necessary upkeep, prioritizing cost-cutting over tenant safety. One particularly disturbing issue involved the water heater, which was long past needing replacement. The water was causing rashes on my pregnant wife and our 6-month-old baby, yet AMW repeatedly ignored our concerns. After constant follow-ups, they finally sent someone out--not to replace the faulty unit, but to attempt a cheap fix by replacing a rod instead of the entire water heater. This neglect showed a complete lack of concern for our family's health and safety. In another instance, water became trapped under the shower, and despite repeated requests, it took them months to address the issue. Given that my wife was pregnant and we had a baby in the home, we were deeply concerned about potential mold growth, which could have posed a serious health risk. Yet again, AMW failed to act in a timely manner, showing blatant disregard for our well-being. To make matters worse, the glass sliding doors were so poorly sealed that carpenter bees were getting inside the house. When we brought this to their attention, rather than properly fixing it, the owner--being as cheap as ever--told us to just put tape over it. This was beyond unacceptable and further proof that they would do anything to avoid spending money on necessary repairs. On top of all of this, AMW wrongfully withheld a significant portion of our deposit, falsely claiming that we had abandoned the property. The reality is that they pressured us to turn in our keys before our lease even ended. Despite paying for the entire last month, they still fabricated an abandonment charge to justify taking our money. And these are only a handful of the issues we dealt with while living in this home. The level of stress, frustration, and outright neglect we experienced from AMW Real Estate was beyond anything we've ever dealt with before. We could not be happier or more relieved to finally be out of that house and, more importantly, to never have to deal with this company again. We are not difficult people to please, nor are we the type to leave negative reviews, but AMW pushed us to our limits. Living in this property was never enjoyable--it was a constant source of stress due to their neglect, unresponsiveness, and dishonesty. This company is unprofessional, negligent, and dishonest. If you are considering renting from them, think twice--you will be dealing with a company that disregards tenant concerns, drags its feet on critical repairs, and unfairly withholds deposits. I highly recommend avoiding AMW Real Estate at all costs. It also seems from other negative reviews they don't take accountability so don't be surprised If they respond back to this and somehow blame us. Just a couple pictures we have for documentation

Lived here for a while and for the most part my stay was pleasant…read more Pro: This place is litterally nesteld in trees. There is lots of shade which makes for a nice cool summer. If you wanna have that far away feel and not in the more populated areas of Newport News than this is just the place. You are secluded enough to take in all the greenery but close enough to hop on 64 to get where you need to go. It is literally right off the interstate, like 3 minutes. Lee Hall has loads of history, the train depot, Yorktown Beach is located on the same road about a 10 minute drive, there's the Lee Hall mansion right next door...like a 5 minute walk if that where there's plenty of tours that go on and the Endview plantation less than a mile away. This definitely a military friendly complex considering Ft. Eustis and NWS-Yorktown are less than 5 miles away. Also, the Newport News Campgrounds and city park is nearby. The apartments themselves are on the bit of the older side but the maintenance are super effective and friendly! During my stay of almost a year I only placed two calls. One was out of my own stupidity and the maintenance personnel came within an hour or two. The second was a non-emgerncy and they came the very next morning. Both problems solved easily and effectively! The office staff are also extremely helpful and kind. Never had an issue and it is comforting when they recognize you as soon as you step inside the door to pay rent. The complex itself is normally very quite. Except on holidays where people can get a little ratchet. There is a nice sized pool, a new playground for the kids, and doggie bag stations usually stocked throughout the complex. I enjoyed that the community garden for NN was literally located next door, for all you farming folks. There are laundry mats located within the complex but they also have washer/dryer hookups and some apartments have stacked washer n' dryers for those of you who prefer that instead. Cons: While being so secluded is a good thing, it comes at a price! Grocery shopping was a little bit far for me...and the immediate options like Food Lion on Warwick was not my cup of tea. Shopping is definitely something I do often and even with the interstate being right next door it was a bit of a hassle. For runners who like to jog around the neighborhood this is not a good place to do so if you want immediate distance. Yorktown rd, or 238 is a long narrow road which I wouldn't recommend running on as people tend to speed, even though the speed limit is 25mph ( you will get pulled over too!) and it gets very dark at night. There are lots of deer too! No cons with the staff! They are great! :D Now, being that the apartments are older they are doing renovations, especially with the flooring which definitely needs it. I think the biggest annoyance here was the thing walls. But that really depends on your neighbors though. I was always wondering if they could hear me because I hear a good majority of the racket coming from the stairway. Which, the stairways only seem to be cleaned once a week and got pretty dirty by midweek. Some folks complain about the close proximity to the railroad tracks but I found it charming. Your apartment will rumble and you will hear the horn. One thing that also was disappointing was one of their amenities was a fitness center which I found to be depressing. One treadmill ( which almost never worked), one bike, one elliptical and a multifaceted weight machine ( that also didn't work completely). I'm not expecting One Life but at least a clean ( lots of rust and sometimes gunk) and functional equipment. Luckily I was able to use base gyms otherwise I would have been miserable. Finally, this place does flood in some areas of their parking lots. There are signs so just be smart. Overall, I wouldn't have mind staying here longer and recommend this spot for new people surely, especially military folks. It is safe, quite and great staff. Plus, considering the area this place is pretty cheap and you are not in the hood like other places.
