I used to visit this newsagents when my daughter was at university nearby…read more It is a nice shop, with lots of newspapers and magazines to choose form and lots of tempting sweets and snacks! You can order a newspaper or magazine to be delivered if you live locally, or order a magazine they dont normally stock to collect from the shop. The staff are nice, really friendly. Oh, and you can tell I dont smoke, they also sell cigarettes and lighters!

Smokers Paradise

I love this place. It's about as central as you can get - right opposite the Bank of England - and…read moreit's great to know there's some small and civilised antidote to the life-sapping Costa-fuelled soullessness of the commuter trudge. Should satisfy any discerning smoker's every need. It's a tiny little place but has a big stock, and the owner is really friendly and helpful. Everything from Indonesian clove cigarettes to Gitanes to snuff to cigar- and pipe-related stuff I know next to nothing about can be had. And they sell handy flip-top portable ashtrays with their name on them, which is dead convenient if you can't find any of those "gum and butts" things, which you don't want to go near anyway, if you can possibly help it. Go try.
Good News

Good News looks like every other newsagent from the outside but step inside this tiny little shop…read moreand you'll see that the choice of magazines is what keeps this little store a step ahead of the rest. Because Good News is situated in the heart of Soho, where all of London's hippest fashion houses, production companies and media firms are generally based, it needs to offer it's clients something different. Sure, you can get the usual paper, a juice and a bag of crisps but I've never seen so many magazines. If your looking for fashion, music, business or art, they have every single commercial, weird and underground paper and magazine you can imagine and even stock some industry mags as well like Music Week for example. Although I don't work in Soho anymore, if I pass this shop, I always stop by and pick up a magazine I know I can't get anywhere else...

No to mention they stock a fantastic selection of international magazines and newspapers that one would often have trouble finding (especially American publications)! Definitely warrants a 5 star rating.

This means you have to walk an assault course to get to the back of the store. This branch in Uxbridge has actually got a lot of floor space but you couldn't tell on first glance due to the massive displays and no space in between. I would hate to have to push a buggy around, your poor baby would have Cards and magazines crashing on it's head. The one thing I do like about this shop is the self service tills. You don't have a depressed member of staff trying to sell you half price chocolate. As you scan your own stuff. Much better when you nip in for a birthday card. This does have a great selection if birthday cards. But every time I leave I'm thankful I made it out alive!

Secondly you have the usual snack items and juicy drinks to give us all the much needed afternoon sugar rush. I believe trying our luck at the lottery is an option here too. Yet all this pales to the exquisite selection of magazines you have on offer. I spent a good ten minutes gazing longing at the shiny covers wishing I could sit and read them all. Well done Camden News, you are the shizzle! P.s. This would be 5* review but they do not seem to have Oyster top up capabilities.
