They have anything and everything you could want relating to Comics, action movies and even some Simpson's and Family Guy memorabilia! Downstairs is dedicated to figurines, posters and gadgets, whilst upstairs boasts a huge selection of comics, novels and collectible figurines! If you have a friend or kid who is really into this stuff its a great place to come for some gift shopping! I also noticed they've jumped on the Twilight bandwagon (like everywhere else) and sell some pretty cool Twilight memorabilia too! Some rather nice posters of R-Patz are available...swoon! read more

Forbidden Planet is a cool/nerdy (depending on which way you look at it) comic book store. I used to hang out in the Dublin store when I was a first year college student on account of the American guy who worked there. My room mate and I hit the jackpot one day when he started talking to us about Alice Cooper being interviewed by Jonathan Ross the previous night and he gave us a weird Alice Cooper action figure thing complete with guillotine, decapitated heads and various other bizarre accessories as it was faulty. Anecdotes aside, the Belfast store is great. There are some action figures if you're into that kinda thing and some super comics and graphic novels. Now if they'd only start stocking Belfast's most genius comic, 400 Facts by local illustrator Stephen Maurice Graham of the blog of the same name, they'd have some very happy customers! read more

It is weird the places you end up when you are Christmas shopping, and this is definitely one of them. This is allegedly a comic book store, making me feel like I was in the Big Bang Theory and clientèle mainly boys, but just walking in gave me a bit of a fun feeling. A bit like going into a toy shop when you were a kid. Whatever TV show or superhero you are into, or if you are more Hello Kitty than Hellboy you will find gifts for anyone in here. Even gifts for yourself, which I did by accident, and the service was helpful, fast and friendly. Don't tell anyone. ;-) read more

Literally the worst company I have ever dealt with online. Terrible ordering system, WAY overprice shipping costs (wanted 32 pounds, actually shipping was 16), and the comics I bought were TRASHED. TONS of spine ticks, bent corners and creases on the cover. One book was actually scarred with an engraving. They are trash. FP planet offered 20% back. I can't even sell these for 20% of what I paid. THese guys are a joke. DO NOT buy from them, ever. They don't care about their customers, and anyone that would consider sending products out in such bad shape clearly doesn't care about the hobby. Avoid at all costs. Completely unacceptable. Wish I could share the pics. If you're a collector, they are a horror show.... read more

There's something about Forbidden Planet that leaves me cold. Let's be straight here, I am a fully-fledged, card-carrying nerd, right? And not an "I saw Star Wars once and like it" kind of nerd. I have a favourite captain of the Enterprise, I have very strong opinions on Voyager, I'm obsessed with Battlestar Galactica and my controversial choice for best ever Doctor Who is Sylvester McCoy. And yet this shop doesn't really do it for me. My brother used to get all his comic books from Talisman years ago. Now there was a shop with character! But Forbidden Planet just doesn't live up to its predecessor. Maybe the problem is that everyone is a little bit of a geek these days, so it tends to stock a lot of stuff that you can get elsewhere (and not as cheaply, might I add) In fairness, it's still the place to go to get your comics on a weekly basis, so I'll give it marks for that. But the ground floor in particular, just feels like a section of Toys R Us. And where's the fun in that? read more

I used to be a big fan of Forbidden Planet, but recently I find they've become a bit over-priced, and with merchandise that can be found pretty much anywhere online for significantly cheaper, there isn't too much of a reason to shop here aside from the odd occasion where you have a bit of money to burn and don't mind waiting a day or so for something to be delivered to you. That said, it's nice to have a shop this size that caters to this market in the City Center. There is of course Comic Book Guys, who I feel do a far more interesting (albeit smaller) range of products that you might not necessarily come across quite easily, but they're stuck in the Spires mall that nobody ever bothers to go into. Great for impulse purchases, but if you're looking to use this as your go to comic book store, stick to online where it's cheaper. read more

Being a big fan of Comics, Video Games and Movies, this place is awesome to just dander around and look at all the products they have. But as much as I love all the stuff, I've very rarely purchased anything. The comics are a little overpriced and sadly any purchase you make on new comic issues you are not supplied with a bag and board where nearly EVERY seller these days are selling issues in them...but for some strange reason all Back-Issues are sold in bag and boards. It's still a nice walk around the store itching to just find something to buy when you have a hole burning in your pocket and the guys who work there are really enthusiastic about where they work which is always cool to see in any line of work. It's a place I'll always make a stop into whenever I'm in town but here's hoping I make a purchase again sometime soon. read more

Forbidden Planet came to Belfast after a local comic book/collectable store, the Talisman was bought over by them. The franchise was taken over by the same guy who owned The Talisman so it does a bit of local charm about it for being a chain store. They stock all the latest editions of pretty much every comic currently being published. If your a regular buyer they will open up a pigeon hole and will always keep back a copy for you. My friend has one of these pigeon holes and it appears that comics can be an expensive business! The pegoen hole doesn't cost anything but comics have gotten expensive, £3/4 for each, so if your like my friend who gets a 4/5 comics a week, it certainly adds up! Great place to nosey around, or (if your a passionate collector) to become broke in! read more

Forbidden Planet is a lovely little place on the outskirts of Victoria Square and for me provides a welcome relief from the unrelenting torrent of faceless overpriced clothe stores that the centre hosts. This place is the only place in Belfast that you will need for you figurine, poster, manga and comic needs. They have a great selection of comics and manga and will be only to happy to order you in anything you want as my friend has found. A lot of stuff here you can find online but it is good to interact with an actual human being, and the staff here are caring, friendly and only too happy to talk to you about anything in store or any interests you or they might have It also sells a selection of console games, which makes it a one stop shop for any self respecting nerd in the Belfast area! read more

Looks to be a great shop but their hours SUCK! They close at 5:30 on Saturday and 5:00 on Sunday. Wanted to check out the whole shop but I was asked to leave at 5:25 after I had just walked in to look around at 5:15. Was visiting Belfast on Holiday and I would have really liked to spend some money on some local or hard to find European books. Really wish they were open later and had more convenient hours. I'm not hugely into comic books, however I still really love to visit this shop. My brother is a collector of comics and I sometimes pop into Forbidden Planet if I'm in town with him. There's a huge selection of comics and also books, figures and toys. I love a good browse through it all. A great place to visit if you are interested in science fiction, fantasy and horror stuff. Even if you're not it's still fun to visit and an ideal place to get gifts for friends and family who collect. read more

I've spent far too much money here It's a great shop, a lot of people will point out you can buy most of the stuff cheaper online, that's probably true of everywhere but forbidden planet offers unmatched browsing possibilities, I would never have gotten into sandman or preacher if I hadn't flicked through the pages in forbidden planet As well as the wide array of comics they offer a lot of toys (I once bought "the meat" from rocky because how do you not buy that) and a lot of board games, they have a pretty hefty collection of fantasy novels upstairs as well but unfortunately they've cut down on the video game side of their business Always worth a look read more

Forbidden Planet is nerd nirvana. It stocks every single comic book and sci fi/fantasy movie memorabilia ever written/made. This stuff is so nerdy I couldn't even show it to my friends (except the ones who visit with me) but if you're a geek you'll understand. There's just something about that Batman hood and cape you can't help desiring. This place is literally like Disneyland for War of Worldcraft fans. To get a picture of the type of people who visit it, think of the guys from Big Bang Theory. read more

This little comic book/sci-fi shop has existed in one form or another since I remember. It really is the epi-centre of the comic book and collector's world in Belfast, and across the north. I myself am not a huge collector but my cousin has been for a very long time. I've been here many times wandering around the stuffed aisles admiring the detail and precision that goes into some of the collector's items on offer. The store has two floors. Downstairs there is a range of kitsch manga, film memorabilia, Marvel and DC figures, T-Shirts and video games. Upstairs is where the comic books like. Endless walls of graphic novels, novellas, comic art books and hundreds of comics. There's also an extensive range of pricier busts and items from sci-fi, comics and the movies in general. A treasure trove of a place. You'll probably end up buying something even if you hadn't planned on it. read more

Forbidden Planet is a great store for the nerd that resides in all of us. It has a huge selection of comics and books on the top flow that could keep me browsing for hours. It also has a massive selection of toys downstairs as well. It is a great place to have a look for something for a present for a kid as the selection is pretty great. If you are a bit of a comic enthusiast then ask about setting up one of their pigeon holes. This means that they will compile all your comics for you to go in a collect whenever it is convenient for you, and you never risk missing one. read more

I came across this store last year while i was looking for some WWE wrestling things for my nephew. This store has a great selection, and i came across lots of starwars and buffy memorabilia as well which made great presents as well. Forbidden Planet is one of the geekiest hang-outs in Belfast and is therefore right up my alley. It's the best stop for picking up the latest comic releases or collections. For those really into figures and related paraphernalia, the downstairs is probably a dream, too. In fact, the range of products is pretty awesome. Friends of mine have picked up manga upstairs and I've even picked up the likes of Street Fighter mini-figures while I've been browsing the comics. Definitely worth a look whenever you're nearby as you'll never know what you'll see. read more

Disregard for paying customers - This one is the most recent experience. While in there with a friend who needed CCG card sleeves, they didn't have the right size at the front but they quite clear as day had the right size behind the counter upstairs (overpriced too). He asked if they happen to have any in case he was mistaken about the ones behind the counter. The staff member didn't even look at him before saying "It's just whatever is there." this lack of caring for a paying customer is unacceptable. Heavily opinionated staff - A lot if not all the staff hate Kevin Smith, which is fine everyone is entitled to their opinions but that shouldn't interfere with a business and making money because at the end of the day isn't that what business is all about? A person shouldn't have to listen to a staff member rant about how much they hate Kevin Smith and how they would avoid buying/selling Kevin Smith product. Another Example of strong opinions and sheer rudeness - A family member of mine wanted to buy My Little Pony comic books for her daughter and when she asked if they had any, the staff member at the counter responded "Do we look like look like a Toys R Us?" There are a lot of things I could say about this Forbidden Planet and it's staff members but I think I've made my point. These days I'd go to Comic Book Guys instead because it has nicer staff, more products I'm looking for and cheaper prices. Thank You for reading. read more

Friendly staff members who know a lot about their products. The store has an excellent selection including Star Wars, Dungeons and Dragons, Anime, Manga, Action Figures and graphic novels. The only problem is it has a whole section dedicated to (SHUDDER) Twilight which could be used for better products. The best place in Belfast especially if you're a movie buff, Otaku, Role player, Geek or a little bit of all four. read more

Probably the biggest comic/geek pop culture shop in Belfast, if you want to find anything this is probably the best place to go. The prices can get quite steap but I feel the same is true with any highstreet shop and the staff here are always friendly and willing to help read more

Nice array of comics, books and related merchandise but what spoils it for me is the overpricing of new and back issue comics compared to online or ebay shops; and those shops delivery for free, no parking or bus fares need to be spent! I really don't appreciate being taken for a fool and sadly that's how I felt when I realised how much dearer they were than what's available online. 1 star for the day-light robbers, there's just no need for it. read more
