Jill loves Mark and you can tell that Mark has a real connection with the dogs. He's a dog whisperer haha :) The surroundings and facilities are great and we came by a week before-hand to have a look around and get Jill familiarised. Very professional. Mark sent daily videos and updates of Jill and you could tell that she was a very happy dog there. I can definitely recommend Mark and Dawgy Hotel and Daycare. Satch loves both Mark and Issi and he always comes home happy and exhausted after spending the day at Dawgy Walks and Daycare. Mark and Issi are flexible and accommodating and its an added bonus that I can keep up to date with Satch's day via their social media platforms. Mark and Issi are both down to earth and extremely professional. I would feel comfortable leaving Satch with them while I was away and I know that I could trust them with a key to my home. I would not hesitate to recommend these guys to anyone, they are honest, reliable, and great with the dogs.

A few years ago they morphed into this glamorous building that cantains a vet, dog groomer, pet store and cafe. They have several full sized avaiarys on display in the car park, which is massive for a pet store (about 100 spaces). Go inside and there's everything you can think and some things you've never thought of - for pets. It's like a supermarket for your best friend and the best thing of all, the staff seem to know everything about pets and if they don't they know another staff member that does. They are also friendly! I had a problem with my dog barking, I was shown a selection of items and collars which could help, and they gave me the name of two local trainers in the area. I bought an anti-barking collar and also called one of the trainers - both worked and my dog doesn't bark needlessly anymore.

In fact she's always rather enjoyed my bathe and cut sessions BUT I know the limits of my cutting skills and following some work in the garden recently, she was in need of a professional job. So it was that we sought out 'Secret Dogs Business'; a glam dog grooming parlour on Mowbray Road, WIlloughby where the scent that greets you as you open the door is a heady mix of expensive candles with a hint of dog bum. It was with head hanging in shame that I confessed to the groomer that she was matted and handed her over. 'Just do what you can,' I said and so it's only fair to report that the groomer did a very tidy BUT very short job. So this is where my review becomes more of an advice column. Firstly, keep up the brushing and don't let them get matted! Secondly, dogs might FREAK OUT when they realise that they are not a teddy bear and are in fact dogs albeit with baboons jacksies (vanity is not just for humans it seems). So my words to the wise. Be super clear about what you want the dog to look like and don't assume that it was the parlour's fault if your dog takes to their bed to issue withering stares for a few days.

As well as being a vet clinic they re-home (and if necessary) rehabilitate rescue cats, with a no kill policy. My cats usually see Adrienne who is a God send, she is amazing with cats (not always an easy quality to find!) and one of the loveliest people on the planet! But all the staff are here are great, really efficient and thorough. They are always familiar with the latest treatments so they really know their stuff! When my cat got very sick with a collapsed lung they let me pay his bill off in instalments and were more than happy for me to visit him several times a day. They also have a 24 hour sister vet that you can call anytime of night if you are worried about your pet and it's free of charge.

We have two dogs who rely on them. They feel confident visiting, despite some significant moments across decades. Much of the advice offered is preventative, reasoned and sustainable. Staff are very responsive to the temperament and quirks of the individual pet. Owners are offered thoughtful information too. (We have literally phoned our dog overnight and had a nurse pick up to chat). We have done puppy classes here. There have also been chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and birds across the past 25 years. It's a welcoming, well-run practice and the pricing compares very favourably with Emergency Vet Hospitals. Your pet will feel like a VIP.
