It's a snazzy little art gallery with lots of variations of art. It's not freezing or two cold. The staff is friendly and sometimes you will catch the artist's there which is awesome then you can ask away. Its in a great location right in downtown Golden. 10/10 read more

Closed now, but Opening SOON! Because of both the renovation of the original church bldg. and also the expansion into the historic Astor House, Foothills Art Center has been closed for the better part of the past year. That will soon change when the original building becomes a Creative Campus for studios and the Astor House contains the galleries, a meeting room, reading center/library, refreshment kiosk and administrative offices. Targeted for March/April '24, both FAC buildings will be a major improvement and offer everything from classes and meetings to an increased outdoor patio and even a Short Edition dispenser for free English/Spanish phone-based stories, poetry and cartoons for both adults and kids to take with you! read more

I wish I could write a review without a rating because we didn't actually get to see the museum and I want to explain why. The people running it are moving it to a new space and expanding. We had a chat with one of the staff members who was there incidentally and explained what was going on. They're moving for more art studio space for people to use and expanding the arts, all the good things! 10000% justified that they're closed right now. We were here from out of town, so a bit sad (I had a knack this trip for finding all the closed places lol!) but definitely a good reason to be closed at the moment! I've provided 5 stars so as not to ruin their star rep and still warn people they were closed at the moment. read more

No visit to Golden is complete without a visit to the Foothills Art Center. After visiting the shops and restaurants in downtown Golden, it's time to trek up the hill to the Foothills Art Center. The Foothills art Center is a great little art center in a very neat old building. The building itself makes it worth a trip to the Art Center. The Center has nice exhibits of local and regional art as well as a variety of special exhibits. There are 2 buildings - located side-by-side but not connected. Be sure to check out both buildings. This is a good place to spend about an hour. read more

Foothills Art Center is like a really small town- it's cute to visit, but you most likely won't stay very long or buy anything while you're there, at least if you're under 40. The building is gorgeous, and protected for its historical significance, and the grounds are very nicely maintained. I love the St. Francis statue in the garden out front. Inside you'll find the usual art-gallery fare- various traveling exhibitions intermingled with static exhibits of local art. Currently, a national printmaking exhibition occupies most of the gallery space. The majority of the work you'll find is tasteful and pretty, but if you're looking for provocative and modern, go further downtown. Foothills stays firmly on the middle ground when it comes to controversial art- no giant clay male organs here. The price is usually a bit out of range for the younger set on larger pieces, but you can usually find some cute handmade jewelry that's reasonable. It's a nice spot to grab a gift for someone whose tastes you're not certain of. There are often handknit items as well, particularly in the winter. Overall, you're not likely to make a purchase at the Foothills Art Center unless you came for a gift for a specific person, but it's a great spot to stop with relatives in town for a few days. The location is super cute, atop a hill in homey old Golden, and everybody can find something to admire. Take the In-Laws and follow it up with a trip to one of Golden's many lunch spots. read more

4.5 stars. I saw a fabulous show here of contemporary photo/video from China. It was a well put together, impressive show, and what brought me to Golden for the day. The space was interesting, and it would be great to see how it's used for 3-d object shows. It was coolthat their gift shop supported local artists, but I know that I didn't need any glass or ceramics... It's nice that they do that, though; I'm sure many of the objects there would make great gifts. It's worth going here if their exhibition sounds intriguing to you. Based on the China show, you might end up being even more impressed than you'd expect. read more

A very independent and fun space that knows art. I was expecting something a amateurish, to be honest, but was surprised to find real art connoisseurs. It is part of the SCFD (Scientific and Cultural Foundation of Denver); so expect ART! Oct 2018- follow them on instagtam. They art hosting a handblown glass ORB HUNT. Foothills Art Center really is a wonderful place to visit. Tucked inside of a historic building, the gallery looks unassuming from the outside. But the galleries I've seen inside are beyond compare. Recently I saw their Nicole Banowetz show and was blown away by the whimsy of it all. Admission was free and the other shows at the time were a real treat to see. Definitely recommend visiting!! read more

A mixed bag. We visited today to see the Chihuly glass exhibition. We found the exhibition really interesting and also found something to buy (blown glass) in the gift shop. Liked the movie that came with the exhibit. So what were the negatives? They have 100 year old plumbing and without going into specifics, let's just say it may be time to consider calling the plumber. Also we learned we could have gotten free admission to the exhibit and a discount on our purchase if we were members -- all this after we paid full price for the exhibit and the purchase. If I were to rate the exhibit alone, I would say 4 stars. read more

We rented the museum for an evening client event and it was perfect. Maura was lovely to work with during the planning and setup. Christian was our evening POC, very friendly and even jumped in to help at the registration when we got pulled away. Our guests enjoyed seeing the artwork throughout the center and Maura stayed around to share some information about the history of the center and the current exhibits. Really enjoyed discovering this Art Center because it was advertising a Holiday Boutique while I was in town over the November 10, 2012 weekend! This boutique is apparently a juried event with calls going to all Colorado artists. The quality of the art was very good especially in the jewelry and fiber disciplines. The center itself is nicely laid out, and I'd return to see an exhibit there in the future. read more

I joined this Arts Center because I work at Mines, but probably wouldn't have otherwise. It's very expensive for what it is - same admission price as the Denver Art Museum? Why, why!? The people who were working there when I joined were unfriendly and didn't know much of anything.... However, the building is lovely, and the Ansel Adams exhibit was great. I look forward to visiting here throughout the year and improving this review. read more

The Ansel Adams exhibit was well done. Office and gallery staff could use customer service training (and better signage). I called in advance to ask if the student ticket price applied to college students and they said yes, I purchased a student ticket online along with other tickets. Even though I had a CU ID, the woman taking our passes was positively scornful. It was uncomfortable and embarrassing. I didn't think she was going to let me in. It is also unclear for the first time visitor which door to use, or even which building, as both have signage. They really need to put signs up since the door isn't on 15th at all, but more on the side street toward the alley. The staff were not kind that we didn't know which door to use even though there are no signs. I doubt I would come back. read more

Robert D. Just enjoyed the water media exhibit for the second time. The skill of these artists never ceases to amaze me. It's a great show with very diverse works, but can easily be viewed in an hour. Worth going a second time because you see things you didn't pick up on the first time. read more
