Went to look at some sandals. The persons asked me if I needed help and I asked the price. He says the plastic ones are $ 65 - how many do you want 2 or 3 ? Was he trying to be funny or what ? Who buys 2 or 3 pairs at one go! Also his tone was not pleasant and maybe he wanted to get rid of me as he thought I was not a prospective client. #customerservicefail I went in on an admittedly busy long weekend, in search of a new pair of shoes. Here's the conversation I had with the salesman: Me: Hi, I need new summer shoes that offer extra-good ankle and arch support. Salesman: What about sandals? Me: I'd prefer something that laces up. Salesman (measures feet): You're a big guy, you need a 13 1/2 (normally a 12). Me (half thinking he just insulted my weight): I'm a little surprised by that. Salesman (brings $450 shoes): These are larger than your normal size, because your orthotics take up space. Me: They don't really do the trick. What about these other ($200) shoes? Salesman (brings something different): Try these (walks away before I'm done lacing). Me: I'm not sure about these either... Salesman (brings a different pair of $450 shoes, also too large for my feet): Try these (walks away). Me: They're too large. Salesman: I'm surprised you don't like them. I had the most amazing, old-school service at this store. I went in knowing I needed to do something to support my poor painful feet, but had no idea what to do. A young Brazilian salesperson listened to my needs, and spent an hour with me. They observed my walk, measured my feet, and pulled out every shoe that might fit my needs. They knew everything about their shoes and I walked out with exactly what I needed. You don't get service like this these days, and my feet thank you! read more

I went in this afternoon, Friday June 15th 2012. There was just one guy on the phone, obviously private call. No big deal, I just looked at the shoes for awhile. Eventually he looked up at me and I said "my physio says I need a full rocker sole shoe for my upcoming orthotic". I had to initiate the conversation. "WELL. We only have one. This one." He pointed at a shoe. "it's FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS." said with great emphasis and gravitas. I picked up a couple shoes to look at. "OH THAT DOESN'T HAVE IT. THAT DOESN'T HAVE IT EITHER. JUST THIS ONE". me: "erm that's kind of out of my range" him: "Well that's all we have". He didn't get a pair for me to try so he could let me know why these shoes were worth $400. Nothing. He didn't talk about the brand or anything. I mean ok, I was wearing my workout shorts because... I had been AT THE PHYSIO WORKING OUT, but I looked pretty good, quite well put together for my usual self after sweating it up. It's like he decided from what I looked like how much time or politeness he'd spend on me. As a person with Primary Progressive MS, I am a pretty good bet for a return customer at any place like this, over a long period of time. And within less than 15 minutes, I decided not to come back. I'm not in retail and even I know that was a bad interaction. Won't be back unless something really major changes there. They shouldn't need a customer to tell them that they need to let people know why their shoes are worth that much. ADDENDUM: I wrote them a letter yesterday saying basically the same thing I said here, and this morning, I received a letter of apology and an assurance that they are thinking about things and are planning to be more self-aware about their sales styles. I will probably stop back in there someday because they are right near my physio. I'm pleased that they did apologize - it was a full apology and didn't try to make any excuses. That's pretty cool. So, I changed my review to a 3 because of that. read more

I'm a return customer and a fan. Knowledgeable, attentive staff and great selection for flat footers like me. My extended health benefits cover certain ortho shoes and custom insoles as I have a MD prescription due to foot/back pain. These guys have been great over the years in helping me figure out how to navigate this process. Ignore the whiners, this busy store has been here for years and years because they provide great value and service. Plus, lots of great brands, and cool shoes & boots that make my feet happy! read more

I've been going to this store for years, and I haven't had the same issues with sales staff that others have had. They always have good suggestions and don't mind bringing out pair after pair for me to try. Maybe because they know I'm a repeat buyer? Their shoes are expensive, but they are good quality, the ones I have purchased have been made in Italy or Germany. Sometimes the store is really busy so I have to wait, other times it is not so busy and I get the attention I need. read more

Just once I'd like to walk into this store and have one of the staff actually say hello to me. Maybe I don't look the part of your typical customer, but you never know, I might actually buy something if someone bothered to interact with me. I do buy quality comfort shoes, but generally go to other stores where staff make the effort to be friendly and helpful. And why do you not put prices on anything? I'm sure you offer a quality product, which is why I've bothered to give you two stars, but you really do need to offer some sort of customer service, even if it's just a friendly "Hello, is there anything I can help you with today?" read more

I haven't been treated as rudely, and as patronizingly as I was today when I visited this place in a very long time. When I walked into the store, the salespeople were at the other end, behind the counter, looking me up and down as I approached as though wondering what I would be doing in their store. One of the salespeople, a middle-aged woman with blue eyes, greeted me and asked me how I was. I responded in kind, and said that I wanted custom-made shoes. Instead of addressing my question, she ignores me and starts asking about my extended insurance coverage, and then tells me I need a prescription for such shoes. Then she looked at my feet and said "oh you don't need them -- you don't have deformed feet..." Stunned, I laughed aloud and said yes, I do need these shoes. Then her equally tone-deaf, socially-clueless colleague (an older male wearing glasses) started asking again about my insurance, implying that I must not be able to afford the shoes I need, lest my insurance cover them. They then tell me that their other location makes the shoes I need. I said okay, and walked out. I neither know nor care what has caused those two to behave the way they do, but I will say that they really ought to check themselves and their assumptions in the future. read more

I was lead into spending a lot of money on a pair of hiking boots. I told the sales staff that I spend a lot of time out doors and need a show that will keep my foot dry, walk on ice etc. They highly recommended a boot and even though it was expensive I thought, ok I'm making an investment. On my fourth time wearing the boot , I was only taking my dog for an early morning walk , it was raining, the boot got completely soaked. I brought it back and they sent it to "the lab". Apparently the boot isn't leaking but I was told that maybe it's what I was wearing and water got thru the top. These boots were beyond soaked. All I was doing was wearing pants that I normally would to walk my dog in! And that much water got in. I don't want the boots anymore but the salesman said "he stands behind the boot" which I replied even though you felt how soaked it got from a 30 minute walk. So now I apparently have to buy special pants and socks to go with these expensive boots. I feel ripped off and beyond annoyed. What a waste of money! read more

I'm sorry, but If I had the choice of giving this business no stars, I would. The customer service is plain rude. I got shoes there in the past, but I stopped going because a bald guy who used to work there, gave me a horrible look and didn't reply to me when I said hi, as if I was a piece of trash. The only reason why I went back today, after a year or so, was because they do carry good products and they are close to me. There were two sales persons there and I was not acknowledged during the first 15 minutes. I actually was the one saying hi to the sales person when grabbing a shoe right next to me. If I hadn't say hi, I'm not sure he would've. The icing on the cake was when the guy laughed and said "ok" after I said I would be back with more time. He didn't get that was a polite way for me to say I couldn't wait for them to "do me the favour" of helping me. read more
